One vegetarian lunch in Tokyo, easy metro access
Hi. I have a long layover at Narita. I'd like to go into Tokyo, have lunch and spend maybe an hour walking around. I've never been there and don't speak a word of Japanese so easy navigation is a premium. I'm strictly vegetarian - no fish, eggs are ok. I'm fine spending money for a quality place. Where should I go?
Vegetarian at Narita Airport

SINGAPORE - Upscale, Great food, Lively/Trendy with Vegetarian Options
Thanks all! Is Ci Yan open for lunch only?
Flying to Singapore
I'm flying United from IAD to Tokyo and then on to Signapore, business class. Will the airline-provided kosher meals be edible or should I just bring my own food?
Also - according to the web I can only find one kosher place in Singapore. Is there anywhere other than Awafi?
SINGAPORE - Upscale, Great food, Lively/Trendy with Vegetarian Options
I too am traveling to Singapore and only eat vegetarian - no fish sauce, no hidden baby shrimp please! Any updates on this thread?
Tel Aviv
Thanks all! My favorites were pasha - really good! and a grill in shuk hacarmel called makor bracha.
Halva in Jerusalem
Two years ago there were many people selling halva in machane yehuda. Now I can only find one stand and their product is so-so. What happened? And where can I find the good stuff now? Thanks and chag sameach from a kitnyot-eating hound.
Vegetarian in Basel
I would welcome any suggestions for vegetarian friendly places in Basel say up to 50 dollars per person without wine. I don't eat fish. I'm staying near the train station. I already ate the yummy mushroom stew in Marketplatz. Thanks!
Great food in Basel Switzerland
Any updates? Anything a bit cheaper and vegetarian friendly?
Visiting vineyards in Israel
Anyone been to vineyards as a tourist? Any advice on where to go?
Mold on Hanging Salamis
I hung a couple of salamis up to turn soft salami into hard salami. Foolishly, I had a couple of them touching. After a week, I noticed some white mold growing on the spots where the salamis were touching. It didn't spread elsewhere, and the mold came off when I washed them. I've re-hung them further apart. Think they are safe to eat?
Tel Aviv
I'll be there the week before Pesach. Where should I eat? I already did a search on the board and nothing much came up. I'm interested in anything but fish, any price level is ok.
anniversary dinner in DC for vegetarian and meateater
I would recommend Rasika or Dino.
Capital City Cheesecake in Takoma Park, MD
I went on Sunday. I think I like the coffee better at Starbucks, but the cheesecake was quite nice. It's not a bad place to sit and read the paper. Oh, and it being Takoma Park, of course you can compost everything!
Mama's Soul Food in Temple Hills, MD
Anyone been? How is it? It has a reputation as a veggie-friendly soul food place.
Chow-Friendly Veggie Hotel on the Beach in Bali or Phuket?
Thanks. Often for resorts, its convenient to eat where you sleep.
Chow-Friendly Veggie Hotel on the Beach in Bali or Phuket?
I'm looking for a place that is veggie-friendly (no fish, egg is ok) in Bali or Phuket on the beach. I'm one person, and would prefer a simple eco-lodge place to a super-upscale resort hotel. I'm flexible with regard to price. I'd appreciate any thoughts and recommendations.
Kosher Parmesan On Line
Any leads? I live in DC and am having trouble finding anything good.
Sunday brunch at Pomegranate Grill in Potomac MD
Has anyone tried it since they reopened? The menu looks interesting.
Prime Ko's Gyu Kakuni
Thanks - went with steak last night, but will try this the next time I'm there.
Prime Ko's Gyu Kakuni
The menu describes it as '12 hour sake marinated short ribs, wild mushrooms, and mashed potatoes.'' Nu, have you tried it? How was it?
Chow-friendly shabat in Southern Europe
I will spend a few days in southern Europe in March on vacation, folded around a work trip. My trip will probably include shabat. My destination is flexible, although I've already spent time in northern Italy and Greece. I'm flexible with regard to cost. What's a good chow-friendly destination where spending shabat would be pleasurable?
Veggie-friendly dinner near Gaithersburg?
Where should I go on Thursday for dinner? I'm open to a variety of price level and up to say a 15 minute drive. It will just be me. I don't eat meat or fish, but eggs are fine. I did a search and the only relevant looking thread that I found was about Burma Road. Any other suggestions?
Bringing food into Mexico
Maybe if you get the meat packed in vaccuum sealed plastic, as many butchers now offer, you'/ll have an easier time getting it in.
Chocolate covered nuts
Who makes the best chocolate covered nuts? I prefer high quality dark chocolate. Thanks!
