ISO Thomy, Swiss tomato paste in a tube
Does anyone know where to find this amazing product? I'm looking for the large-size tube of pure tomato paste. The packaging is distinctive: the cap is red with daisy petals. Not interested in the many Italian varieties. It's THOMY or bust! Anyone know where to find it in Toronto?

I heard it said that if you use Yukon Golds, you don't have to peel the potatoes. Does anyone have experience making latkes with unpeeled Yukon Golds? If not, what kind of potatoe do you use? Epicurious says peeled russets. Any other suggestions? And for frying, is sunflower the best kind of vegetable oil to use? Would love to hear your thoughts. And Chappy Chanukah!

If you are looking for a retail store for high quality organic meat, you must try The Healthy Butcher (on Queen or Eglinton. Eglinton is the larger store). Absolutely superb meat.
Best electronic kitchen scale?
I've been using a Salter, but it died. I tried changing the batteries and still got an "Err" message. I very much liked the feature of being able to recalibrate to zero after putting something on the scale that holds whatever it is that you are weighing. Rec, pls?

I was interested in a recipe on epicurious that calls for "dulce de leche" without further explanation. Does anyone know if this means a sauce/syrup that one can buy? If so, does anybody know where to get it in downtown Toronto? I would think that the Latin American stores in Kensington might be a good bet. Would love to hear if you know anything about this. I have been using my mother's ancient Hamilton Beach stand mixmaster, which I love. Unfortunately, I wrecked the beaters. There is no way to replace them so I need advice on which stand mixmaster to buy. I love to bake so I'm willing to invest in a good one. Recs, pls?
