Lively but moderate spot in Midtown pre-Lenny Kravitz concert?
Thank you both for the great ideas.
Lively but moderate spot in Midtown pre-Lenny Kravitz concert?
A friend is going to this concert at Radio City on a Saturday and she is looking for somewhere fun for dinner and cocktails. I am at a loss to help her as I am caught between Irish pubs and restaurants that are too fancy. Does anyone have a middle of the road yet fun idea? It is two gals going, so it can be more appetizer or bar-dining focused. When I say moderate, the price is not really important, it is more the tenor of the place being more fun than stodgy. Thank you in advance!
Office moved to 47th and Park - need good "everyday" lunch options!
Thanks Mollp and AubWah! Great ideas.
ISO a great French Bistro -- midtown or downtown
I like Le Singe Vert in Chelsea and also Antibes Bistro on the Lower East Side. I have been to La Sirene. It is very good, very rich and quite small. I think the other two suggestions I made might be more lively.

Thank you! I mix it up - sometimes a takeout for $10 and other times a sit down for $25. I have great info for my client lunches, so this is more when I am solo or with friends. Great info - thanks again!

Our office recently relocated from Murray Hill to 47th and Park. I am in need of good lunch options! I already found Le Pain Quotidien around 50th and Third which is a fave. Some requests:
1. Best create your own salad bar
2. Best inexpensive but still good sushi
3. Any good spicy options - Indian, Thai, etc.
4. Best slice of pizza
5. Any french bistro bar seating (neighborhood type place)
Any other suggestions you have are welcome!
Thank you!

Thank you for bachelorette weekend recs! Quick report.
Thanks to all of you who (especially Jesuissnob) gave me advice for a recent weekend trip with 6 gals. We had a fantastic time due to your recs. We stayed in two perfect suites at Le Port Royal, bought goodies at the Marche du Vieux-Port, had cocktails at Voodoo, did dinner at Laurie Raphael (the full-on tasting menu with wine pairings!) and had an absolutely amazing brunch at Le Clocher Penche. The weather was perfection and we rode bikes on the Ile d'Orleans.
If any of you ever need advice in New York City, let me know!

Thanks again - we hit Nyonya and they loved it. Still a few more days left on the "tour" so I will use these other suggestions!

Thanks so much to all of you! These are awesome ideas. I really appreciate the burst of ideas!
My NYC International Culinary Tour needs your help!
I have been entertaining my niece all June and July as she has been enjoying a fun college summer internship. We have done French at Cafe Cluny, Greek at Snack, Indian at Dhaba, Chinese at Joe's Shanghai, Vietnamese at Co Ba, Korean at Mandoo Bar, Sushi at Ushiwakamaru, Tapas at Boqueria and Mex at Toloache. She has been an avid participant and I don't want to let her down! Tonight I have my nephew as well and he spent last summer in the city too. I am running low on fun ideas! Any thoughts? We live on West 15th so anywhere below 34th is preferable. East or West sides are fine.
Thanks!

Need assistance for some dining spots in Quebec City for an upscale (seriously!) bachelorette weekend in August
Thanks to you as well - this helps me to focus in on the best selections!
Need assistance for some dining spots in Quebec City for an upscale (seriously!) bachelorette weekend in August
Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply. I will most certainly try these. I have heard so much about the Laurie Raphael I feel I must book that.
Very much appreciate the assistance!
Need assistance for some dining spots in Quebec City for an upscale (seriously!) bachelorette weekend in August
I will be traveling with a total of 7 ladies - all 40 years old - for a bachelorette weekend in August. We will be staying at Le Port Royal hotel. Arriving on a Friday and departing on a Sunday. Everyone attending is from New York City, so they are used to great food whether it be a hole in the wall or at a top notch spot. It is my first trip to QC, so i have no foundation to work with at all. I would greatly appreciate your help in making this special for my sister (the bride-to-be).
Here is what I am seeking:
1. Friday night spot for drinks/appetizers - festive atmosphere. Maybe something with a terrace or rooftop or other outdoor feature.
2. Saturday - a marketplace where we could get wines/cheeses and maybe picnic somewhere along the St. Lawrence (if people do that!)
3. Saturday bistro - alternatively, a suggestion for a good quality neighborhood bistro for lunch.
4. Saturday dinner - Seeking a nice celebration spot - nothing stuffy. Would like a place with some energy but not too crazy. We are used to paying $50-75 each for dinners including drinks, so that would be the price neighborhood I am seeking to top out at.
5. Sunday brunch - any great spots near our hotel where we can send the bride off with a nice champagne toast? This can be a very casual spot - nothing fancy required!
Thanks so much!
Any Menus with Soft Shell Crabs?
I had a terrific soft shell crab appetizer over couscous at A Voce Madison last night. They have a pretty outdoor seating area for these (overdue) late Spring sunny evenings. I'd also recommend the octopus appetizer.

cool place for coffee near the Pleasure Chest (Gr. Village)?
Rocco's on 243 Bleecker is an old-fashioned, long-standing pastry shop down there. It's not a new-school coffee shop but it has a neat history and good coffees.

should we bother going to crispo?
I am also in the "eh" camp. Not so impressed. It is certainly not bad, but I have had better Italian in NYC.
Eleven Madison Park- FLAWLESS!
I just had an INSANELY good lunch there. I recommend it highly.

Casual lunch near Madison and 32nd?
Check ot the Murray Hill threads on this board. But, for a short cut:
1. Artisanal on 32nd between Park and Lex specializes in cheese (a little pricier but they do have lunch specials)
2. Les Halles for a steak-focused French bistro around 28th and Park (gets mixed reviews on this board but they have affortable steak frites, and you can certainly linger).
3. Mandoo Bar on 32nd between Fifth and Broadway for Korean. Yum.
4. Dos Caminos for Mexican also around 27th and Park.
5. Barbes on 36th between Madison and Fifth for French/Moroccan
6. ilili on Fifth Ave between 27thand 28th for Lebanese/Middle Eastern

Ideas for where to meet for a drink before dining at Strip House?
Thank you - nice idea!
Ideas for where to meet for a drink before dining at Strip House?
Dining with gals at Strip House tomorrow. Anyone have an idea for a spot to meet earlier for a nice cocktail? I have not been to Strip House so I was not sure if the bar atmosphere would be good for a drink or if it would be better to go elsewhere. I am looking for a higher end cocktail spot, nothing too downmarket. The restaurant is on East 12th near University. Thanks!
