Thanksgiving in Portland? [Maine]

We are doing the same thing because of that NY Times article!

I was really disappointed and surprised to find that almost every restaurant is closed on Thanksgiving Day itself (so unlike NYC).

I've found these two hotels in Portland that offer Thanksgiving Dinner:

20 Milk Street at the Regency Portland Hotel:

OR

157 Cafe & Bar at the Eastland Park Hotel:

So far the Portland Forum on TripAdvisor favors the Regency over Milk Street, two to one.

real wasabi

I am very sorry to hear that! I thought it was an excellent restaurant.

real wasabi

Megu brings fresh wasabi root to the table and grinds as much as you want when you order sushi/sashimi.

Le Miu, located on Avenue A between 6th and 7th, will give you fresh wasabi if you ask for it. They may charge you extra.

Where to find excellent Mai Tai?

I called the bar in Honolulu that made the Mai Tai that knocked my socks off. They kindly gave me the recipe they use:

1.25 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
.75 ounce bacardi select
.75 ounce bacardi gold
.4 ounce rock candy syrup (simple syrup with vanilla)
.4 ounce orgeat almond syrup
.4 ounce orange Curacao floating on top

They serve it with crushed ice, a purple orchid floating on top and a spear of raw sugar cane in the drink.

Late Breakfast or Really Early Lunch?

Shake Shack at Madison Square Park! 23rd and Madison. Open 11 AM to 11 PM. Fantastic burgers, shakes in a gorgeous park near your hotel.

Where to find excellent Mai Tai?

Thank you so much! I will have to try the place! I hope I get the bartender who makes the awesome Mai Tai ...

Where to find excellent Mai Tai?

I am not familiar with the place. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks.

Where to find excellent Mai Tai?

Unfortunately, there is no longer a NYC location. And the Manhattan Roy's just closed...

Where to find excellent Mai Tai?

I just got back from Honolulu and had excellent Mai Tai's at Halekulani (at House without a Key and Orchids).

They were superb and now I'd like to find an equivalent in Manhattan.

I found a suggestion on Chowhound from two years back for Flatiron Lounge. Does anyone have a more current recommendation?

Thank you.
