I was thinking moderate in NYC would be around $80 a person total. I could be way off though! Also, the date is Saturday, May 22nd. I'm hoping this doesn't coincide with graduation festivities!

I'm from New Orleans and am trying to plan a dinner for a bachelorette party in NYC. I've only been to NYC as a tourist a handful of times and and thus am in desparate need of some help! There will be 8 of us, mid to late twenties, and we're not doing the tacky bachelorette experience, but do want to go somewhere fun and delicious. We're on a moderate budget and would be open to a tapas type meal, but that's not necessary. The bachelorette is a fairly healthy eater, and prefers seafood. Any suggestions are much appreciated!! My boyfriend and I are coming to Boston for his birthday at the end of July. The focus of the trip is going to the night games, but I would like to take him somewhere nice near Fenway for early dinner the day of his birthday. We're from New Orleans so used to good food, but want something totally different than we can get down south. I've never been to Boston so I'm feeling overwhelmed. Also I'm a pescatarian (he's complete carnivore). The boyfriend's main concern will be getting to the game on time. so preferable somewhere that starts serving dinner around 5. Thanks!

Love, love College Inn. It's my go-to place when I am out of ideas. Can eat on a bargain and do po-boys, or can spend a little extra cash and order off the entrees menu. The redfish special changes seasonally and is always great. Service is really great as well.

I'm glad someone brought up Mahoney's. A group of my friends and I went on St. Patrick's Day and had an awful experience. First, I ordered the shrimp remoulade and fried green tomato poboy (my favorite at College Inn). While the shrimp were grilled to perfection, there was hardly any sauce and the bread was stale. I asked for more sauce and was required to pay almost 2 dollars for it. This was after paying what I considered a lot of money for a po-boy, fries, and an Abita. After several of us ate, we decided to stay and drink because it began to rain. We were not rowdy (we're not college students) and paid a lot of money for drinks, yet the woman who worked there (short brown bob, middle-aged) could not have been ruder. She made rude comments under her breath, made a point to shoot our table dirty looks, and handed out beads to the entire restaurant except our table. When some of the guys we were with asked whether they could do Irish Car bombs (I know, I know, but it was St. Pats) the bartender said yes, then the rude woman overheard and refused to do so even though they had all the ingredients. I mean, it was St. Pats at a place called Mahoney's. I will never go back again and it's really too bad because the fries were awesome.

In terms of service, I had the opposite experience. I went on a Friday night and it was painfully slow.
However, in terms of food and decor, I think the experience went well. I am a sucker for exposed brick and chandeliers. The Hamachi main course was excellent, cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the Steak and Frites, which he said was delicious. I tried the fries, they were excellent. The prosecco by the glass was affordable and good quality as well.
I personally, did not like the soft-shell crab appetizer, and was not that excited about the appetizer options that night. It was nice that they split our shared appetizer into 2 separate plates without us asking. The beignets were ok as well.
