New: The Sparrow
I am pretty sure she was a problem back then for Mile End bar.. We do have plenty of Venue places but if you could see the upstairs at Sparrow its really nice and would be a pretty cool venue place. Quite a step above Green Room in terms of decor..Although I do like Green Room.
New: The Sparrow
Might be lame but it is in no way their fault... The woman who owns the Violin school next door has started a petition not to allow Sparrow to have a liquor license. She doesn't want the mess from Cigarettes and stuff the day after a venue... Its just stupid because people sit and smoke outside anyways.... It's her that's the problem! otherwise it would not only be a great rest/bar but a cool place for concert venues they had planned for
Bulldog BBQ
I just got back from a visit to Miami and I was looking for a new restaurant to try..My boyfriend and I decided to go to Bulldogs BBQ on Bicayne Blvd. I had to comment on this restaurant because the food was AMAZING!... The service was even better. I never had such friendly service in Miami. The waiter was quick, smart and super friendly.
There is a reason why Bulldog BBQ was listed as one of the best new BBQ restaurants in America.. As a Canadian I may even go as far as t say North America..
Although I have seen this concept before I was very impressed by everything my partner and I ordered. I also liked the paper towel rack next to the table. As a starter we shared the buffalo chicken wings . I ordered the ribs with a side of mac n cheese. The ribs were perfect! The mac n Cheese made with three different kinds of cheese including a very sharp aged cheddar was out of this world. My partner had the Pulled Brisket Sliders with Sweet potatoe fries. The brisket was soft and lean and marinated in the most delicious juices. One of the best tasting brisket I ever had outside the home... The fries were the best I ever had... I can't wait to go back on my next visit. A+

Montreal Foodie looking for new suggestions in Miami
Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely try some of your recommendations. I will for sure try Yakko San I think I know where that is. I believe the sign outside says Hiros... Used to be next to a little restaurant called Artichokes. Artichokes was amazing! so sad it closed.
Montreal Foodie looking for new suggestions in Miami

Montreal Foodie looking for new suggestions in Miami
I will be in Aventura for the next two weeks and I am looking for some new restaurants to try. I have a car and know my way around so I am pretty much open to anything between Boca and South beach. Normally when I come down I hit up my same favorite restaurants crammed into 2 week visits. Joes, Prime 112, Carppacios, Cafe Ragazi... Anthony's coal fire, Houston's.. Etc..
This time I don't need fancy I just want want quality. The best of everything! Italian, Middle Eastern, Greek, Chinese, Thai, Sushi, Portuguese chicken, Israeli food , Lebanese .. I am open to all suggestions!
I was told to try Joe Allen and Sardinia for example...

West End
It's my favorite brunch in town! The menu is very large and there is always something for somebody to eat. Potatoes are COSMOS style which are delicious!! Very generous portions of eggs, Bacon/sausage/ and most importantly fruit Now I won't ever knock beauties or bagel etc... or so on.. but try getting that much fruit on your plate anywhere else???

Bento boxes and supplies
I am pretty sure I have seen them at Eden, the Asian grocer in La Cite market.
Besides Eden and Miyamoto you can try the Korean Grocery on St Catherine corner Chomedey. I know it's a Korean store but they do have Japanese products. In the front of the store they have soy bottles, bento boxes, pans, chopsticks etc..
Lucille's NDG (old O' Bistro location)
Perhaps it's the location that didn't work...A family style diner should not be on Saint Denis in my opinion...
Lucille's NDG (old O' Bistro location)
On Saint- Denis corner Gilford there is a Pizzaiole restaurant in what looks like an authentic old fashion diner. This kind of set up with actual diner style food is what we are missing in Montreal. I am often in Connecticut and they have the most amazing high end family diners all over New England. Or.... a diner like the famous Buckhead diner in Atlanta.

I really like Lemeac although I haven't been since they got a new chef.. http://www.restaurantlemeac.com/fr-CA/index.aspx
Pot au feu de saumon à la fleur de sel which is Salmon in a chicken based broth is delicious. Also if 10:00 PM is not too late for you to eat they have an after 10 special for $22 appetizer and Entree.
Montreal has some really fabulous Greek/ Mediterranean cuisine. Philinos http://www.philinos.com/index.html this is one of the better greek restaurants in Montreal. Everything is delicious from the Greek salads, Tzatziki, their pita bread is amazing! they have a variety of spreads on their Pikilia platter which is a great appetizer to share. Known for their lamb chops, grilled chicken, Jumbo shrimps and fresh fish. Make a reservation because sometimes closed for private dinners. They have a lovely terrace you can request!

Also Greek food...reasonably priced and the food always fresh. During the week they have a special of Salad or Spanikopata and a choice of various fish , Shrimp, chicken, or meat served with rice pilaf and Greek Lima beans for $15-20 / person.
Casa Tapas http://www.casatapas.com/

Sushi?
I would make reservations at any of the below:
I really like Sho-Dan on Metcalf Downtown. The specialty rolls that aren't on the menu are the best! Although not cheap! I do believe it's one of the better known sushi restaurants in Montreal.
http://www.sho-dan.com/
I also really like GINGERS for sushi on Pine and St Laurent... If you go try the sushi dessert its AMAZING!

La Louisianne
Thanks for the review! I haven't been to La Louisianne in several years... Glad to hear it's still good. I will have to go back soon!
Cote St-Luc BBQ
Agora does have very good Greek chicken but I prefer Nostos on L'Acadie for the lemon roasted chicken. The marinade is out of this world! I also really like their fries. When I was in Greece a few years back they put the same kind of fries in my Gyro. Nosto's knows how its done. I like that the restaurant is more spacious then Agora. I always feel like people are eating on top of me at Agora. I also sometimes feel like im sittig in a geriatric centre...
Nostos

Mont-Royal Bagel
The bagels are so so.. They are trying to get their name out there because they would like to expand. They are advertising a lot now for it to compete with St Viateur bagel. I think they will start serving breakfast soon. They need to work on the freshness of the other products besides the bagels. I really don't find salads that look like they've just been sitting for a day or two appetizing. Selection of stuff at the TMR location seemed quite limited at the moment. I would only go back in a few months when they are more organized.
Salad anyone?
Chez Nicks on Greene Avenue in Westmount also makes nice salads. You can also try foumagerie on Sherbrooke St corner Prince Albert. They make really good salads, sandwiches , soups. Both excellent choices for a great lunch .
Montrea Locals - What do you consider the best small hole in the wall resto?
Italian food is a weakness of mine and I really enjoy Rôtisserie Italienne 1933
Sainte Catherine W. Atwater or Guy-Concordia metro. They have a counter where you order your food and they will call your name when it's ready. Table and counter top seating in a small but cute atmosphere. The owners are the real deal. I love these guys! Now opened on weekends which it wasn't in the past. Only accepts cash $. Fair priced! fast! excellent excellent food. It is also very convienient if you are going to a movie at the AMC
