Striped Bass T-Town-insulting!

I can definitely relate. My experience with S Bass staff was from professional (from gum chewing hostess, to (loud) cellphone-in-ear waiters). Food was definitely lousy, and the pricing was surprisingly high (I guess my perception was in relation to the quality of the food). It's as if they've been around so long- that they don't even bother trying anymore. Too bad. I've gone to SC and have been pleased, though I now go elsewear for seafood...

Frozen Yogurt coming to westchester

Thanks for the update! Once I get the word, I'll def be there!

Ice cream desserts in Westchester?

I love Main Street Sweets in Tarrytown. They make all of their ice cream on the premises and always have great new flavors. They bake goodies too, but I haven't tried those, as I am strictly an ice cream lover!

Hunting for greasy soul food joints...

Thanks to all for the tips! Anyone heard about the Five Spot in the Clinton Hill area?

Oooh! I've never heard of this place! Thanks for the tip!

Anyone been to the Sunflower Cafe in Sleepy Hollow?

Finally visited Sunflower Cafe. Place is nicely decorated, featuring an amazing photo exibition by a local (Sleepy Hollow) photographer. I visited the cafe today (Tuesday) in the early afternoon and was surprised to see that the place was bustling with lots of writer types on laptops and artsy looking folks. They have a TON of beverage offerings (coffee, teas, blends, smoothies and such). They also have a wide selection of lite fare (wraps, sandwhiches, sweet stuff). They had a very interesting looking Fig and Goat Cheese Cheescake.... and offer an extensive breakfast menu (including organic pancakes and such). They DO offer yoga on their deck. I'm excited, as I think this place will be around for a long time, unlike the former biz- Lighthouse Cafe.

Hunting for greasy soul food joints...

Yes, I know most health-minded people would run past screaming these joints, but I just love satifying my craving at old school soul food spots. Problem is, I'm having trouble finding them these days... any help would be appreciated... open to any tristate locs

Looking for a Good BBQ Caterer in Southern Westchester

Hate to seem lowbrow- but Ribs on the Run (a BBQ dive in Yonkers) has been reliable in the past, as well as Dallas BBQ (various locations in the boroughs, including the upper Bronx). I found both to be flexible (meaning that you can haggle a bit regarding available options and pricing- particularly when I needed to balance taste, quantity and budget. Dinasour BBQ (Manhattan) may have expanded catering delivery options too... I've ordered and picked up food, then hired locals to set up and serve (worked out cheaper, than hiring "their" staff- but I was exhausted from managing the process). Anyway, good luck...

interesting about the menu... sounds like this place might be a lot like their predecessor (Lighthouse Cafe). I hope they fare better...

Anyone been to the Sunflower Cafe in Sleepy Hollow?

Certainly! for a myriad of cheap spanish eats, i go to Corona's Lunch in sleepy hollow.

Corona’s Lunch 194 Beekman Ave, Sleepy Hollow (914) 631-6393 (reaching them by phone can be a bit hit or miss)

I usually get a Cuban Sandwich ($5.50). packed with slim slices of ham, cheese, juicy hunks of pernil, on nicely squashed crunchy bread. I've tried the fish soup (it's more like a soupy rice that's packed with chunks of fish, chopped squid, and shrimp here and there. it was certainly a hit during one packed lunchtime visit. it was tasty, but way too fishy (smelling) for me. they have great pernil and their black beans are seasoned nicely. Tostones are perfectly fried (fresh to order, so be prepared to wait). menu rotates, written on a chalkboard.

the place is owed and operated by a dominican family. looks like "mom" is the main cook. place is packed during lunch and weekends. portions are ample. i spied some spanish brand sodas in the cooler, was happy to see that they had my favorite mexican soda (Jarito's).

I heard about this place and drove by it the other day. Looks like they took over the old Lighthouse Cafe. The loc. is a bit off the beaten path, but not far from my favorite Spanish cheap-easts spot, so I'm hoping that it's worth a try. Let me know what your thoughts are...
