Recent Marben, since the change of staff?
Anyone know if they're still doing the Sunday Night Pig Roasts? Couldn't find any info about it on their website.
Recent Marben, since the change of staff?
Has anyone been to Marben since Carl, Ryan, and Sasha left? Has the quality dropped or the direction changed?
I was thinking about making it a birthday dinner destination in a couple of weeks, but now I'm unsure. Thanks!
Best nabeyaki udon in Toronto?
Neither have websites. You can find some reviews of Ematei for sure, and get an idea of their menu. Tokyo Grill generally doesn't take reservations. They have like 6 tables in the front and maybe 5 in the back, so not that big. It'll be busy if you go around dinner time. Nabeyaki udon will probably be like $11 or $12.
I enjoy their sukiyaki, and their oyakodon. Most of their stuff is decent.
Latest Charlie Burger
Beaver flapper Chicharron -- I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere.
best salads in Toronto- 2012
Whatever the current version of Splendido's mushroom salad is, is always fantastic.
yummy yummy dumpling - my preferred spot downtown
according to the menu on the website, they do have xiao long bao here. $5.99 for 6. It's listed under buns, though.
Any great porchetta places in GTA

Where can I find beef bung or other natural sausage casings in Toronto?
Just saw a few types of casings at Concord Food Centre by Dufferin and Hwy 7.
Best Doughnuts in Toronto
Sticky Rice Sesame doughnuts at the Korean bakery inside the Galleria supermarket at yonge and steeles. Take 'em home and heat them up and enjoy.
The Burger's Priest new location??
Went this evening, lineups inside were probably 10 deep at worst. Most people were taking it to go, so it wasn't too hard to find a stool if you really wanted one. Obliterated a Priest with cheesy chili fries. The priest was fantastic, but not too sure how the cheeseburger would stand up on its own. Milkshakes are not available yet.
Burger Cellar a couple stores down cannot be pleased.
Group Brunch/Lunch/Dinner (~30pp) Thornhill/Richmond Hill/North York/Markham
I'd say look at Chinese places-- whichever can give you a private room of that size. Emperor, Yang's, or Regal are options.
Restaurant "Har Gow" on Danforth
When it closes for good, I'd rather call it "Har Tsow".
eh? eh? Anyone?
ISO dried smoked salmon
Costco sounds like the place to go to get them at a reasonable price. Thanks.
ISO dried smoked salmon
Hey folks,
I'm looking for smoked salmon-- the dried stuff that comes in boxes and they sell in souvenir shops at the airport. Anywhere I can get it where I won't have to pay the usual airport premium?
And any recommendations on brands?
Thanks!
Persian restaurants at Yonge/Finch area?
Try Super Khorak Supermarket at Yonge and Newton. Great hot table. I usually get their kebabs though.
Thursday fresh pasta emergency
Also a bit out of the area you mentioned, but not TOO far is Pasta Casereccia specializes in making fresh pasta, in Vaughan. They'll definitely have fettuccine (though their pappardelle is my fave).
It's at 160 Applewood Cres, just north of Jane and Hwy 7.
Men-Only Birthday Bash - N44, Auberge du Pommier or Centro?!
And I should add that service was impeccable.
Men-Only Birthday Bash - N44, Auberge du Pommier or Centro?!
We had the tasting menu last October. Not sure who the chef was at the time. I really enjoyed pretty much every dish.
Here are the photos (minus one course I forgot to snap)

A shame Blacktree's too far. I was going to suggest Haisai.

Southern Rub Smokehouse
Next time, don't order individual meals. Order a big platter and share. Better deal. Glad you enjoyed it.
Men-Only Birthday Bash - N44, Auberge du Pommier or Centro?!
I'm sure "romantic" is exactly what Charles is going for.
Had to tasting menu at Auberge last fall and loved the earthiness of it.
What are they yelling about when you enter Guu!?
Yeah, when you leave. That's what I meant, sorry.
When you enter, I think it's great to yell out, "onaka suita!" as demandingly as possible.
What are they yelling about when you enter Guu!?
you should be yelling back "gochisosamadeshita."
Kiva's $6.00 bagel
It's like any other bagel place. Once they slice it in half for you and put something on it, the price goes up 500%. You're going from paying for retail to paying for service.
Just buy a half dozen bagels if you're interesting in trying them, and add your own cheese.
Moving to Toronto
Would have to respectfully disagree with the Mother Dumplings rec. I find them generally uninspired, and their side dishes are a total afterthought, sometimes inedible. Unfortch, I can't offer a better suggestion for dumplings in Chinatown as I haven't tried much in the area for years.
Night It Up and Waterfront Night Market 2011
I saw them selling that. Noted the $5 price tag, and the size of it (about two bites) and decided to pass. Nice to hear it tasted good.
Best thing we had were the Malaysian Murtabaks for $8. Obviously made by folks who knew what they were doing. Pretty filling, too.
Night It Up and Waterfront Night Market 2011
Two words to sum up most of the stalls at Night It Up:
Amateur Hour.
