Help for business trip
I'm coming into town from LA, hosting some business partners from the SF Bay Area. I'm looking for restaurants that capture the NYC experience. Food has to be good of course but also a fun/funky/only in Manhattan environment would be great. Ideally not so crowded and loud that we can't converse. I've read threads on the individual restaurants below, but was curious what people thought would have the largest wow factor:

Upscale Vegetarian in San Francisco
My friends are getting married and I want to get them a gift certificate for a meal at a nice restaurant. However, they are vegetarians and I don't really know what the best options are. The restaurant doesn't have to be vegan, but I want them to have more than just one or two items as options.
Romantic Steak Dinner
I am looking for a nice, romantic restaurant in San Francisco to take my girlfriend for dinner. I am looking for a good steak, but it doesn't have to be a steak house per se. Pricey is okay, but I am happy for suggestions at all price ranges.
