Pret A Manger coming to Chicago!
Yay!!! I ate lunch here three times a week in NYC - the chicken mozzarella baguette and the mezze salad are both amazing!
gyro place in grand central station
The only thing I get there is the Greek Salad with chicken. That's really good.
Must-Try Manhattan Ice Creams?
Second the Fresh Mint at Labortorio. Toasted Coconut and Pear Sorbet at Cones. Lychee ice cream at Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. Key Lime Frozen Yogurt at Emack and Bolios (tastes like Ice Cream).
Brunch West Village
Wallse has a great brunch...we did my mother's 65th birthday brunch there last year.
It's my Birthday! Where to go for Drinks Before Jean George Tonight?
Another great option is the Parlor at the Cafe Des Artistes...cutest bar ever, super yummy champagne cocktails.
Crispo - Any Good?
Also a big fan of the polenta with smoked mozzarella and prosciutto and the orichette with sausage and broccoli rabe.
What's the last restaurant you ate at?
Hmm...Brunch at Henry's on Saturday, Dragon roll at Sushi a Go Go Friday night, Malaysian at Nyonya on Thursday...
Bar/Lounge Recommendations
Second Wined Up...also a glass of wine won't make you all sloshy at the meal!
Fried clams in the city?
Actually had some decent ones at the Oyster Bar a couple of weeks ago.
What's good at 105th and Central Park West?
I live right there...so here goes. On Columbus btwn 107 and 108 A just moved to a bigger space, and the food is great. Thai Market on Amsterdam btwn 107 and 108 is really good for Manhattan Thai. Crepes on Columbus (108 and Columbus) has a great brunch, as does Zanny's Cafe on 108 and Columbus (great sandwiches at lunch too). Saurin Park Cafe on 110 and CPW has nice sandwiches (the brie and pear is a favorite), also L'exquistus on 107 and Manhattan, great new orleans gumbo. The deli on 108 and manhattan makes great, greasy egg and cheeses.
Indian or sushi, Houston to Gramercy?
I like Choshi for sushi on 18th and Irving, and Tamarind for Indian on 22nd.
Frozen yogurt/gelato/ice cream around Tribeca?
Walk to the B'way Bloomingdale's for their awesome yogurt.
kampuchea banh mi killer?
It's not a "traditional" bahn mi, but the skirt steak sandwich is insane.
Aquagrill Lunch Review
It's probably my dad' favorite (tie between that, Gotham, and San Domenico). I love the tuna with jasmine ricecakes, and they have an amazing swordfish special at times.
Pinkberry Comes to Columbia Main Campus
Ooh...I live right there...that could be deadly!
Asian-Style Ribs
Chow Bar's plum glazed ribs are amazing. Had good Tamarind Glazed ribs at Kampuchea last night!
Does Maple Walnut ice cream exist anymore in NYC?
Hinsch's in Brooklyn has it occasionally too. Straight shot on the "R", less of a pain than Staten Island.
Best Veggie Burger
I actually really like Cafe Orlin on St. Mark's. Their veggie burger is really tasty!
Looking for the name of the new restaurant where Banana and Caviar (or Rocco's) was? Anyone know the name or has anyone been yet? Any reviews?
Well, Commune was pretty good, but that was the last one!
Best place to study?
Not sure if it's still there, but Broken Cup Cafe on 22nd btwn 1st and 2nd was a good place, because it was really off the beaten path. My writing group used to meet there and sit for hours.
Tokyo Pop UWS disaster
I have ordered takeout from them, and really enjoyed it, without an issue. I will not be dining at the restaurant now, though!
