Seabreeze Fishery, Hazlet
Has anyone visited Seabreeze Fishery on Route 35 in Hazlet since it opened? It replaced Dino's Fishery earlier this month. I saw some chatter at Yelp but the comments are all over the place. Chowhound tends to be a more reliable source. Any thoughts?
Matawan Cafe, a.k.a. Chopped Salad Shoppe, a.k.a., Philly Cheesesteaks, a.k.a. 18Burgers, a.k.a. ...
Salad Works is always clean. I also like the salads at Houlihans. Thanks for giving us a report on your experience.
Ridiculous Beer list at Maloney's, Matawan.
Maloney's is adding even more taps -- over 100 draft beers. Interesting idea, but I'm concerned that they don't have the volume of customers to keep that many beers fresh. And the clientele are often Buds, not Rogue Dead Guys, so I'm not sure the variety and quality will matter. Online comments suggest that their bottled beer collection is hit or miss as well.
We dropped by Maloney's one night about a week ago for drinks and snacks and they had a live rock band blasting the place. The acoustics are awful and we couldn't hear ourselves think much less talk.
The website has been under construction for months now. I suspect it seemed like a good idea but has turned out to be a data entry nightmare. Promotion of beer tastings on the website and on Facebook would go a long way towards bringing in the right clientele.
A more well-rounded business plan would do a world of good. I hate to see another vacant shop on Main Street. Another 25 taps isn't the answer.
Siam Smiles Matawan NJ
The Homestead website is no longer active. The restaurant is still open. We ate there today and the food is still great. My daughter had pad thai and I had a chicken and mushroom soup.
New Restaurants in Matawan?
We ate there once. The dining space is rather vast and empty, so I rate ambiance quite low. The bar is at the other end of the room and seems to be the place's real focus. Maybe the previous owner set it up this way, but there is just no cozy feeling here. The dining area's booths are the old Poet's Inn wooden booths, which I always thought were a bit cold and uncomfortable. I don't think the place is worth the price. We ate at the Poet's Inn from time to time, but it was never anything to write home about. Sorry for the bad review. There are even better bars around.
