a nice brunch restaurant near Columbia, MD for a Baby Shower
I did a baby shower brunch at Elkridge Furnace Inn a few years ago. It was quite nice. I love Victoria's, btw...but if you're looking for "elegant," I wouldn't put it in that category!

Help with Bone In Ribeye Roast, asap!!!
Perfectly medium rare and delicious! 225 degrees for about 2 and a half hours, rest for about 20 minutes (would've done it longer, but it was gettng late!!). Made a great horseradish sauce to go with, along w/brussel sprouts and bacon, and sweet potatoes. Wonderful meal! Only problem? No leftovers for sandwiched. :-(
Thanks for all the help!
Help with Bone In Ribeye Roast, asap!!!
Good lord, people! Lots of responses. It's been in since 3:30 at 225 degrees. Waiting for it to get to 125, then pulling it out to rest. It's about 100 degrees right now. Meat Play By Play. I'll you all know the outcome. :-) It's such an art.
Help with Bone In Ribeye Roast, asap!!!
The package says "Ranchers Reserve Ribeye Roast Bone In." It is 3.43 lbs. So, if I follow your method, 25 minutes per pound at 225 degrees? Correct? (Or, maybe I should just make it into individual ribeye steaks!!!!! That...I know how to do!) Thanks to all for the help!
Help with Bone In Ribeye Roast, asap!!!
Is a Ribeye Roast cooked the same as a Prime Rib Roast (or Standing Rib Roast)?
Help with Bone In Ribeye Roast, asap!!!
Bought a Bone In Ribeye Roast (just under 4 lbs) yesterday on sale, but have never made one. Do I slice it into individual Ribeye Steaks or roast the whole thing like I would a prime rib or tenderloin and carve? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I want this for dinner tonight!
World Peace Cookies problem
I always roll them into balls and flatten a bit with my palm, then sprinkle coarse salt on top prior to baking. I've never had a problem with them spreading too much. In my experience, too much butter means they spread.....although chilling them should help this a bit!
Porterhouse from Peter Luger
I actually won some last year. They were HUGE and delicious.
Polenta question....please help!
I was thinking of making a polenta dish for Christmas (needed a vegetarian and wheat free dish.....that would go nicely w/Beef Tenderloin). I make it with garlic, shallots, parm cheese, rosemary, etc, and then spread it in a dish to set. I cut it in squares and then sautee and crisp up in a bit of olive oil and butter, then top w/caramelized onions, mushrooms and rosemary. It's pretty tasty, but I'm dealing with a dilemma:
Can I do everything, including the sauteeing part, ahead of time, and then put on a sheet pan in the oven to "reheat" right before I put it out for dinner? I'm having about 20 people over and don't want to be standing over a pan last minute.
If this isn't possible.....I may have to change my dish!!! Maybe do a root veggie gratin? Thoughts?
Need a vegetarian, wheat free main course to go along w/Beef Tenderloin at Christmas!!! Help!
Seriously a wealth of info here.....thank you so much. I really like the idea of the roasted veggie gratin. I also thought about a Butternut Squash Lasagna, but fear that rice lasagna noodles wouldn't be too tasty. Thoughts?
Also, a side note: I have had a lovely roasted Acorn Squash at a Houston's Restaurant many years ago. I think it had butter and a sprinkle of brown sugar on it, then topped with toasted pistachios (or was it walnuts??). Does that sound "hearty" enough??? Hmmm.... so many choices now!
Vin de Savoie Apremont....help me find it!!!
I don't know much about wine, but I do know what I like when I try it! I had this wine at a DC restaurant this past weekend and absolutely loved it. The problem: can't find it anywhere near me! Can anyone assist?

Plan my meals.....never been to Chicago!
Coming to Chicago for a Saturday thru Monday quickie trip. Need suggestions for Saturday lunch (pizza?), Saturday night dinner, Sunday breakfast and Sunday dinner after the Bears game.....
Staying somewhere downtown, but not sure which hotel yet...any suggestions would be great, as well!
Help plan my hubby's surprise b-day weekend!
DC'er coming to Chicago for an early October weekend. My husband grew up in Chicago, but hasn't been back as an adult! This is my first trip. Anyway, he's a big Bears fan, and his 40th birthday is coming up. I'm surprising him with a weekend trip and a Bears game. So, I need some help! Saturday lunch, Saturday and Sunday night dinner (after the game, Sunday, of course). One dinner must be a "Chicago" steakhouse, the other night is totally open....we love all kinds of great food. Lunch, of course, will have to be Chicago pizza. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated! Not sure where we are staying yet, but it will be somewhere downtown.
Thanks so much!
Venue for 20th High School Reunion, HELP!
I posted once before on this, but only got one reply. Hoping someone can help with some suggestions! I need to find a place (restaurant/bar) in or around Montgomery County for a high school reunion. I'm assuming we'll have around 100 people (total guess, but let's start there). We don't want to do a sit down dinner, but heavy apps and a cash bar. Any ideas of places that would be fun and rent to a large group?
Thanks!

Help QUICK! MD girl needs help in VA
Heading to a meeting this afternoon at the community college in Loudon. Anywhere good to grab a quick lunch? I know NOTHING about that area!
Thanks!!
Help!!!!! Please.....
Just did a count, and it's more like 17 kids (some are babies).....and I TRY to make these things small, but it never works out that way!!
Help!!!!! Please.....
So, here's the deal. I'm having a joint b-day party for my little ones at my house this weekend. It's going to be about 50 people (about 1/2 will be kids). My first plan was to BUY Pork BBQ for sandwiches (from a local BBQ joint), and make all the sides. Then, I decided to make the BBQ in several slow cookers. Now, I'm rethinking this. I'll be doing some pigs in a blanket and baked mac 'n cheese, too. These, obviously, will need the oven. Since I was going to do the BBQ ahead of time, I really won't have time/space to reheat it. (I was going to put it all in one of those big foil containers, instead of having crockpots out on the table.)
SO.....I'm trying to think of something that is served cold/room temp. Should I do a bunch of sandwiches (giant subs cut into individual portions) w/all the fixins on the side? Or, do you have other suggestions? Trying to keep it simple, and we don't want to be on the grill or cooking much that day.
The Menu:
Main (BBQ or other)
Pigs in a Blanket
Baked Mac 'N Cheese
Tomato Feta Salad
Fruit Platter
Chips
Cupcakes
Oh, please help!!!!! I think I'm overthinking it and unnecessarily stressin' myself out (I always do!).
Fave Sides/Salad recipes for a party...post 'em, please!
Party is for my 2 little ones....so it's a mix of adults and kids under 4. Getting Pork BBQ from a local restaurant, but I'll be making all the sides/salads. I'm looking for your favorite go-to's for a large group (probably about 40 or so people total).
Thanks in advance!

Looking to perfect a Mojito
I am having a birthday party for my 2 little ones and of course, need some spirits for the adults! :-) I was going to make a HUGE bin of Sangria (which I've done many times before.....I have a big plastic bin with a spout that I use for parties), but was thinking of doing a giant vat of Mojitos, instead. Would this work out? And, what about the amounts of everything? (And, for such a large amount, I actually like the Limeade idea......maybe unauthentic, but easy and good!)
Anyone have ideas or thoughts to help me out?
healthy in Silver Spring....
I work in downtown Silver Spring and have been trying to cut back/diet a bit lately. Can anyone give me suggestions of healthy things to get at the plethora of chains and/or handful of not chain places for lunch?
Anything edible from Panera for lunch?
Not sure if you'll get this prior to your lunch today, but I'm not a huge fan of Panera, however, I do really like their Mediteranean Veggie Sandwich....get it on Ciabatta, extra peppers.
