Grist Mill ---> The Falls ---> MJ's ?? (Tinton Falls NJ)

Based on reports here, we tried MJs in Tinton Falls for the first time. We sat on the back deck, which on a summer night is very lovely. The service was a bit slow (it was a Friday night and I get very thirsty and impatient on a Friday night). We ordered a french onion soup and two salads. The salads were fresh and well-prepared. However, delivered w/out dressing. It took a few minutes to get someone's attention to get the dressing. We'd go back because the food was fresh and given this area, inexpensive.

TEMPLE - Red Bank

Two of us went to Temple last night, and we did not have a great experience. For the price, $82 with tip for 2 appetizers and 2 dinners, we'd have done better at Little Schezuan in Little Silver for quality and price.

I had scallops. They were wet scallops complete with a chemical taste. The vegetables were nothing more or less than you would find at any Chinese restaurant. The dish was supposed to be spicy, but it was not. My appetizer of calamari was ok, but salty. The ground chicken to wrap in lettuce leaves was ok. Filet mignon with mushrooms over spinach was ok, but it was supposed to be very spicy and there was no heat whatsoever.

Zoe an American Bistro Little Silver NJ

Went to Zoe on Friday night. They offer some Greek specialties, which is what we tried.
Started with Greek salads. A nice salad, but it will be better when tomatoes are in season. Pickled anchovies instead of the ones in oil! Nice!

My husband had the pork souvlaki, which he liked a lot. I had the moussaka, which was very good. Not sloppy like it can be. We'll go back.

They are kid friendly with a special "kids menu."
The prices are quite reasonable. We got out of there for $48. not including tip.

It was crowed at 7:30 PM on Friday. I expect that will thin out over time. Also, a bit noisy.

It's a brave move to charge $27 for a hangar steak in a new restaurant in this economic climate. The location has been a "hot spot" for a few years, already.

Ocean Cafe Shrewsbury, NJ

After recommendations from several friends, we finally had lunch at the Ocean Cafe today.
It was very, very good. I had a white bean and vegetable soup. My husband had the carrot ginger soup. We liked the carrot ginger the best.

Then, we each had a "summer roll." Mine was shrimp with rice noodles, avocado, carrot, cucumber and greens, with a mayo/pesto dipping sauce. The husband had the tunal roll. Both were very good.

We were pleased to learn that they have a small dinner menu (they're only open until 8 PM).
We'll be getting take out there soon.

Best Indian restaurant in Edison?

Moksha off Oak Tree Road is very good. We've gone there with Indian friends who like it very much. The service can be inattentive and not at all polished. But the food is very good.

Tavolo, Long Branch, NJ

We've visited several times early on a Friday evening. It's usually busy. The service is good and friendly, though sometimes inattentive if you sit in the back. The food is good, and not the usual Italian fare. There are lentils on the menu, which I find interesting and tasty. The hot pepper and sausage pizza is good. Salads are good, but a bit pricey.

And, after dinner you can walk across the street (ok, small highway) to the beach!

Red Red Bank, NJ

We like this place. The service is always professional. The food is very good. We like the hangar steak very much, but they recently removed it from the menu. We usually go early in the evening (6:30ish). It gets pretty crowded later on the weekends.

Saigon II Lincroft, NJ

We eat at Saigon several times a year. The food is fresh, the price is right. It's good. Not fabulous, but very serviceable. A lot closer than driving to Edison. Spring rolls are good, currys are good, crepe appetizer is good.
