Right now we have a reservation at Joe Beef for his birthday, as I have heard from many people that it is a must try. Sounds like CCP or APDC are more high end, but how does the food compare?

Thanks again!

A Family of Foodies going to MONTREAL to celebrate my Dad's 60th Birthday

Hello,

I am going to Montreal in June with my family (3 of us) to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday. We are a VERY food oriented family, as my Mom and I have been in the restaurant industry our entire life and my Dad is an incredible chef.

We will be in Montreal for 3 nights / 4 days and are looking for great foodie recs - restaurants, markets, stores, etc.

Although we probably will have one special meal on his actual bday which I am looking for recommendations on (ccp, apdc, joe beef?) we are also looking for great affordable spots where the Montreal locals go to eat, snack, etc.

Any help on this would be much appreciated as I am really looking forward to diving into all the great food Montreal has to offer!

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Meskerem vs Queen of Sheba

I am about to run out of the office and get Ethiopian food with my mom who is visiting from out of town. I have not been to either places and both seems to get solid reviews on CHOW. Anyone have a preference and/or recommendations of what we should order?

Thanks!

Wondee Siam - What to order?

This is great... Thanks so much for the recommendations everyone! I have to get back there ASAP!

Wondee Siam - What to order?

Hey everyone,

Going to Wondee Siam tonight for the first time. What do you recommend I order? From the other posts I read it seems like their may be a more authentic menu that is in Thai? Please fill me in.

Thanks in advance!

Keens - What to order?

Hey everyone,

After reading all the great reviews for Keens Steakhouse over the years, I am finally going tonight. Besides the Mutton Chops, what else should we order there?

Thanks in advance!

8 nights in Tokyo

Norabow looks awesome....thanks for the suggestion lost squirrel! What are your favorite sushi spots in Tokyo?

8 nights in Tokyo

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the initial posts. I have now done some research and I want to see what everyone thinks of my choices and if you have any other suggestions.

Tonkatsu - Tonki

Ramen - Menya Kissou, Rokurinsha, I think these two serve the same style Ramen. Is there another place I should try with a different style?

Sushi - Sushi Mizunati looks like the place to go, but I am not sure I want to spend $300 for a meal. Are there other places people can recommend that have great quality fish but are a little less expensive? In this case I am especially curious where the locals go.

Yakitori - Fuku

Tempura - Kondo or Mikawa

Eel - Komagata Dojo

I am still looking for good soba, udon, dumblings....If anyone cant point me in the right direction taht would be much appreciated!

Lost Squirrel - I really appreciate the invitation, but I am still working on my itinerary. I will let you know as soon as I figure everything out if Fuku on the 25th works for me. It is so nice of you to extend the offer!

8 nights in Tokyo

I am a first time poster...do I need to be more specific in terms of neighborhood or budget? Please let me know what I should change so I can get some feedback. Thanks!

8 nights in Tokyo

Hey everyone!

I just booked that flight to Tokyo and will be there from 4/25- 5/3. I am staying at my friends apartment in Ningyocho and will also be taking 2 day trips to Kamakura and Nikko. I am a huge foody and the Japanese cuisine is probably the driving force for my trip to Tokyo. I have been doing some research, but I thought I would ask you for all of your recommendations.

I am basically looking for the best places to get:

Sushi (both inside and outside the fish market)
Yakitori
Tempura
Ramen
Soba
And anything else with mentioning....like which malls to go to for food, or other types of food to try.

I am not trying to spend too much money on food, but I do want to go to the best spots and I am willing to pay for them. Above all, I am looking for the places that the locals go to. Also, if you have a recommendation for one or two amazing meals that is real expensive, that is fine too. Thanks in advance....I am looking forward to your answers!
