Neptune suggestions

TAKA has great food !! But no decor, no charm, and is too loud and they seat you too close to the other tables............

Neptune suggestions

Same thing ?? Vic's not good at all. CARMEN'S PIZZA at pete and elda's bar is THE BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA ON THE SHORE and i do mean THIN............

Fish! - Asbury Park

Fish is at 601 mattison ave. 732-455-8181.

Fish! - Asbury Park

Oh yes, I agree, TAKA is wonderful for the food. But, like i said, to me the "SPACE" is not enjoyable at all. Too loud, no walls or decor to absorb the noise. the tables are too close together, to me, that is a "bad thing". I like some space when i am spending a lot of money on dinner. I like my conversation private, and i do not enjoy practically touching elbows with stangers while i am eating. there really needs to be more space and some decor, it almost feels like a cafeteria.......

Fish! - Asbury Park

Fish is located in the lobby of the old "Post building" at the end of Mattison. It was a bank years ago....

Fish! - Asbury Park

In general, I find the restaurants in Asbury Park to be very "HIT OR MISS". I do not think there is one that hits the mark every time. We have tried them ALL many times. Stella can be GREAT and another night, STELLA can be awful, you just never quite sure what you are going to get on any given night in Asbury Park. This goes for all the restaurants, not just Stella. As for "The Boards", I have been there, it was SO BAD, that I will not be giving it another chance. All the tables around us said the same thing..........

Fish! - Asbury Park

I would agree, TAKA is good. The thing I do not like there is the "space" . It's just one big room and gets very loud and noisy at times. Also, they seat the tables so close. When it's a "date" night and you have to practically sit touching the people at the next table, it's not a nice experience. When I am spending well over 100$$$ for dinner, I like a little space around me, I do not want to hear the entire conversation of the table sitting very close to me.

Fish! - Asbury Park

Just found out that the reason the lights are so BRIGHT at "FISH" is because they forget to put in Dimmer switches, so the whole place just has one setting "BRIGHT". I would not lounge at this bar for that reason alone. They really need to get this fixed, it's very BRIGHT in this place........

Fish! - Asbury Park

The menu is very limited and they did not have any specials........no surf and turf, no steamed lobster, and no pasta..........

Fish! - Asbury Park

We went to "FISH" in asbury park tonight !! It was just ok.......we will return to try again. We were greeted (not) by a lackluster, disenchanted hostess who seated us. The space is clean, crisp and new. We thought the lights were too bright for the dinner hour and should have been dimmed. No candles on the tables either, and there were like vinlyl tablecloths that would be just wiped off after you leave as opposed to fresh linen tablecloths. There seemed to be some sort of water or flood in the kitchen and we heard the sound of a broom sweeping water the whole time we were there. We ordered 2 drinks (11$$) EACH !! and waited about 15 minutes for them to get to the table , they were served to us without beverage knapkins. We had ordered 2 appetizers while we were waiting, a warm crab dip ( bland and blah ) and a lobster mac and cheese ( good ). We ordered a Halibut (28$$) which was a tiny portion and scallops (27$$) an ok portion cosisting of 3 very large scallops. The problem was that we were not even halway done with our apps when they dropped our entrees !! our bill for the 2 apps, 2 drinks, and 2 entrees was 107 $$$ PLUS TIP !!! rather high for asbury park and for the size of the portions.

The Boards Restaurant-Asbury

YES mary pr26, I agree with you !!!

The Boards Restaurant-Asbury

Yes Joe, we have never returned and do not intend to. Stella is OK, not great. Very noisy in stella and loud. WE have eaten there well over 20 times and the service has ranged from awful and pathetic to great. The menu is tiny and very limited and they do not honor requests.

Stella Marina - Asbury Park

I agree LEGALDUDE. the service has gotten much better this summer, however, the menu is VERY limited and they never have any specials !! They still let people smoke on the upstairs deck which is very annoying, there is a sign NO SMOKING, but they do not enforce it. Also, they do not try to please the customer. They REFUSE to offer a half portion of pasta to have as an appetizer !! Is that such a difficult request ?? considering how limited the menu is, you would think they would try and work with the customer to make them happy.

Stella Marina Bar & Restaurant

Looking for Good Basic Italian nothing too gourmet, Monmouth area.

La Dolce Vita in BELMAR on ocean ave. Has good food, but the service is very poor. I have been there 4 times this summer and each time they are short of servers and very backed up. the servers are also inexperienced and some are "borrowed" from the other location and do not seem to know what they are doing. had to wait 45 min for a table for 2, waited 15 minutes to get menus after we were seated and after 15 min got up and got them myself. never offered a bread basket refill or grated cheese for the pasta, had to flag down the food runner and tell them he had our food that he was carrying around trying to find out where it goes. Too bad, cause the food is good, once they fix the service problems it will be great again. last year the younger guy was there and kept things in order, this year there is an older man at the door who seems very confused.

Vic's in Bradley beach.........really ?? Last time I was there was about 2 years ago and it was awful. Pizza was not even any good. For pizza it's Carmen's at pete and elda's or Brick oven in bradley beach. For food, Jimmy's, la Dolce vita in belmar or possibly stella marina which has a very limited menu .

The Boards Restaurant-Asbury

This is still not a reason to visit the boards. Service is awful. Food is not much better. Don't bother.

The Boards Restaurant-Asbury

The Boards does not serve "Bread", even though we ordered apps, salads and entrees, when we asked for some "bread" the server said, "we do not have bread, just hamburger rolls". I said, "never mind". They should give a nice bread basket with entrees.

Langosta Lounge, Asbury Park

Also, the HOSTESS at MOONSTRUCK can be a bit rude at times and a bit sassy. He sometimes makes you feel like he's doing you a favor to let you dine at his restaurant.

The Boards Restaurant-Asbury

YOU are right BRUCEFANS !! Good Food and service is NOT found at "The BOARDS" ! The 2 of us spent 128$$ on dinner, what a waste is right !!

The Boards Restaurant-Asbury

We went to "The Boards" in asbury park on Tuesday July, 6 and we did not care for it at all. We arrived at 8:15 pm and sat outside. The service was not good at all and neither was the food. This is a VERY casual place on the boardwalk with a fabulous view of the ocean, but it ends there. The waitstaff seems very new and confused, even the young man who was bringing the food out did not seem to know the table numbers, we had to flag him down twice and say "That's our food". We had apps, salads and entrees and were shocked when the server told us that they do not offer "bread", I would think if a restaurant is serving salads and entrees that they should at least offer a nice "Bread Basket" with some flavored oils to go with dinner. Also, candles on the tables would be a nice touch. The food was nothing to get excited about. The steamed clams were good, but the Mac and cheese app. was bland and overpriced for the portion they gave, again, it was very bland, no taste whatsoever. Caesar Salad was plain, barely a touch a dressing and the romaine still watery. Also, the salad did not have anchovies. The "Wedge" salad was plain with what my partner called a "Bottled blue cheese dressing". The Salmon was dry, overcooked and had a lot of bones !! My 21$$ pork chop was a bit dry, but had a nice topping of apples that were very tasty. We did not want to chance dessert. The Service was poor. We were seated next to the hostess station on the boardwalk and we heard several people complaining as they were leaving. The table behind us was so upset that they told the hostess, "SERVICE WAS AWFUL, TELL HER THAT'S WHY SHE GOT A 1$$ TIP". Nobody ever came by our table to ask if everything was alright with our food. Seems to me that with a new restaurant that the owner or manager would come around and thank you and see how everything is, that never happened. There were no thank you's , no goodbye, nothing. We do not feel the need to return to "The BOARDS".

New Restaurant - Vivas - Belmar

Casa solar in Belmar is a "GEM". Try it for yourself and find out.

BarCar in Fleetwood, NY

I took my mom there on Christmas eve. At that time, they had a small menu and didn't have any specials, I'm not sure if that has changed. Food was O.K. the service was not so good though. There was only one woman working as a waitress, she was wearing black jeans and a long apron. clearly, there were too many customers for just one waitress, we sat with empty cocktail glasses and an empty bread basket for quite some time. I hope things have improved by now. I am going to try it again soon, hopefully they have hired a better wait staff and expanded the menu.

Brickwall, Asbury Park

would you like to share that recipe?? or at least where to find it??? Thank you !!

Craving Cupcakes in Monmouth County

Yes, I agree, not their strong point. Last summer, we bought a very expensive box of cupcakes from baker boys on the boardwalk in asbury park. The cupcakes were very, very dry. They tasted ok, but were so, so dry, just awful. I promised myself that I would never go there again.

"Molinari's" in Neptune

"Belmonte's" formerly known as "Isabella's" in Asbury Park

Oh, ok. Thank you. Same chef, just new owners, so I guess things are the same. Thank you for the information.

Brickwall, Asbury Park

Oh, it's not "gourmet" for sure................just quick, pubby, taverny food at best. I hate to repeat myself, but once again the other night, I was had to walk through a cloud of smoke just to get in the door, so yucky.
