New and notable special occasion restaurant

Six/Seven in the Edgewater is nice and has a great view and good food and always does well for special occasions.

Poppy could also be nice. It can get a little loud, but their food is wonderful and they are good at service as well.

Upscale Lunch Tasting Menu in Seattle

Blueacre has a version of one
http://blueacreseafood.com/Menus/Lunc...
It is three courses for $20 that you can choose from a couple of things. Not exactly what you had in mind, but it is good.

Downtown vegan

You could try the newish Veggie Grill on 4th. It is very close to the hall and is pretty good - casual, but might be worth checking out.

Redmond area after Odysseo

If it is for after a Saturday day showing then the Pomegranate Bistro would work well (not open for dinner on Sundays)

Seattle or Bellevue SeaStar?

Yes. Seattle. Location is prettier and it is in Seattle not Bellevue, and the staff is better. Not much better - just better. Also it is a little quieter. Bellevue's gets rather loud. But both are good.

'tis the season for a King salmon BBQ

recruiting dinner

I know there are some people on the board who do not like it, but honestly for your needs I think SeaStar would work very well. It looks great, the food is good, and service has always been wonderful. Noise has never been an issue for us there and if you let them know in advance when you book they can be sure to put you in a quiet spot.

Recommendations for group brunch/lunch reservations in Seattle

Terra Plata would be good - especially if you could get a reservation for the rooftop area. It should be a great day for it.

Where to get new harvest olive oil?

If you are downtown I would try either Big John PFI

Or 11 Olives in Pacific Place

King Crab?

Hoping to plan a weekend trip up to Vancouver/Richmond to do the king crab at a local Chinese establishment. Any word on when the season/specials are going to start? Hoping to book my hotel somewhat in advance, but want to make sure that I do not miss out this year.

Also any recommendations on who has the best crab? Will be staying at the Pacific Rim, but will have a car. Thanks

Eating on Christmas, not Christmasy

Blueacre will be open on Christmas eve and they have great seafood and are not doing anything really special for Christmas Eve
http://blueacreseafood.com/Menus.html

Many of the area's local Chinese establishments will be open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

Café Presse is also open Christmas Eve and would be a fun choice

Blueacre has Cioppino and also has good shellfish. It is downtown and not too bad to get to from the Marriott.

quick lunch near the convention center?

Blueacre is a good choice. Some other ideas are to walk up the hill to Melrose Market where you can grab an excellent sandwich at Homegrown or go to Taylor's Shellfish and have them shuck you some oysters at their small bar and grab some chowder.
You can also get a good quick lunch at Wild Rye right in the convention center or the crepe place right on Pike outside the convention center.

Dinner in Key Arena Area

The newish Collections Cafe is right across the lawn from Key Arena in the Seattle Center and is very good. http://www.chihulygardenandglass.com/ Service is good and the decor is worth checking out. Food is very good as well.

Asking for rec's for a few areas of focus

Oysters: Walrus and Carpenter for the vibe and the food; Elliot's for tradition and a great oyster happy hour; Taylor Shellfish - just to sit at the oyster bar and have them shuck them for you. Plus you will like the Melrose Market.
Crab: Seatown; Blueacre; Chandler's Crabhouse has a great view
Only in Seattle: Terra Plata; Salumi; Paseo; Quinn's; Boat Street
Cask Beer: There is Bottleworks and you could try Brouwer's Café for a good pub. You could also check out Full Throttle Bottles.

First time in Seattle, near Convention Center

If you are looking for someplace fast and you are attending sessions at the convention center your two best bets for a quick bit are probably the Crepe place right outside the center on Pike and Wild Rye - which is across the street on Pike.
http://www.lacreperievoila.com/menu
http://wildryecafe.com/_index.php

You can head 9 blocks West down Pike to get to Pike Place market and all it has to offer - from street stalls to fine dining. The Crumpet Shop is always fun. There is a weath of ideas for the market on the board with a little searching.

You can also head a few blocks East from the Convention Center up Pike to the Melrose Market which has a number of good options including Taylor Shellfish (worth it even if you are from Boston), Terra Plata, Homegrown sandwhiches, and Sitka & Spruce. http://www.melrosemarketseattle.com/

The entire area between Boren and Melrose and Pike and Pine has a number of other good options as well including Tango, Machiavelli's, and the Baguette Box.
http://www.tangorestaurant.com/
http://machiavellis.com/dining.html
http://www.baguettebox.com/capitolhil...

For coffee and pastry you could head a few blocks SE to Belle Epicurean: http://www.belleepicurean.com/ or a little further to Fonte http://cafefonte.com/

That should get you started. There are a number of other good places downtown or you could take the Monorail from Westlake to the Seattle Center to check out the new Armory or Collections Cafe or take the SLUT (South Lake Union Trolly) from Westlake to check out the dining in South Lake Union including Brave Horse and Serious Pie or you could take the light rail down to the ID district.

Thanksgiving in Seattle

This is one of the lists from last year of what was open for Thanksgiving dinner in Seattle. I like ART and BluuWater and both are downtown.
http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/voraci...

For a really nice Thanksgiving dinner you can dine at the Georgian in the Fairmont. It has a combo buffet - plated meal. Nice starters and desserts on the boards and then a plated meal.
