Well, yeah, that "was" the plan..so much for plans! ;) After researching and reading so many great reviews, I was torn and then thought,"What the hell?," right? ;) Will try to report back!

Vegas Dining Splurge - Recommendations, Please! :)

Thanks to everyone's help, I've decided on Taste of Wynn at Alex for dinner and Sterling Sunday brunch the next day. I'm really looking forward to it! Thanks so much!

Questions about Alex at Wynn

Thanks everyone for all the great feedback. I was all set to try Alex for the total dining experience (at such a great value with the Taste of Wynn) and was super-psyched to see Wagyu on the menu (b/c I'm a steak kind of girl and have always wanted to try Wagyu), but am now thinking maybe I should instead splurge on a Wagyu at CUT (would try the Kobe, but a little beyond my budget). Would the Wagyu be any better there? (but if I recall correctly, it's also SRF Wagyu, so maybe it won't make a difference?). I guess I have to get my priorities straight ;)...is it all about the steak (in which case, I guess I would go with CUT) or is it about the total dining experience and having the chance to eat at one of Vegas' best restaurants (on the cheap, relatively speaking). I guess I should take advantage of Taste of Wynn...I mean, Wagyu will always be on the CUT menu and I can always go to the one at home in LA for a special occasion one day. ;)

Questions about Alex at Wynn

I'm planning on trying the Taste of Wynn menu at the Alex, which currently features a Wagyu entree. Do you by chance know what cut the Wagyu is? (For Taste of Wynn, I can't imagine it being a prime cut). ? Also, while I have no doubt that the dining experience will be sublime, my only concern is that I'm going to leave hungry! ha. (I read one guy's post somewhere who said he left hungry and wanting to go to McDonald's). I don't expect to be bursting at the seams, but will I at least be satisfied? Thx!

Wow, so it's unanimous...skip the buffet, huh? Just curious if all the responders have tried the Sterling Brunch Buffet. ? Only reason I ask is b/c after researching, Sterling sounds pretty impressive and has gotten really great reviews on both Chowhound & Yelp. Sounds to be the creme de la creme of all Vegas buffets...free flowing Pierre Jouet, caviar, whole Maine lobsters, filet, etc, etc. (One blogger even went so far as to say that it beat most upscale sit down restaurants, including CUT). ???

Vegas Dining Splurge - Recommendations, Please! :)

Heading out to Vegas in a couple of weeks and would love your opinion...if I were going to splurge on a meal, would you recommend the Sterling Brunch Buffet at Bally's or a nice steak dinner at one of the Vegas steakhouses (Cut, Craftsteak, BOA, Carnevino, etc).

???

I know, it's like comparing apples and oranges...high end buffet vs upscale steak. I figure I can get a good steak in any city, but Vegas IS the buffet capital of the world, after all. And the draw for me would be the AYCE lobster. That said, it still IS a buffet...what would you do?

THX!

ideas for party food needed!

thx everyone for all the great ideas, but i think i found a decent pizza place that fits the bill! petrillos in san gabriel...they do large rectangular family size pizzas that are cut into squares (so the smaller slices are nice for a kiddie party). AND, their pizza is yummy! def no costco pizza. ;)

thanks everyone! i really appreciate it!

ideas for party food needed!

i'm located in the pasadena area, party will be in the los feliz area...so anything in the san gabriel valley or los feliz/glendale/burbank area. another friend suggested picking up kogi truck tacos/burritos...but not sure if the kids would be into it. ?

ideas for party food needed!

picking just one & planning menus around one of these choices. will prob end up making some of the food (for example, if i went w/ the fried chicken, would prob make mac n' cheese for the kiddos, etc...so kids & adults don't necessarily have to have the same thing. kids will range from toddlers to 8 yrs old). i know costco/albertson's isn't all that exciting, but they're back ups. was not gonna order the in-n-out truck (which i think is like $1k), but rather...somehow pre-arrange some mass order and just pick up like...120 cheeseburgers (i have no idea if they'd accomodate me). so just looking for other creative food ideas off the beaten path that one might not normally think of for party food (just today, had a thought around phillipe's french dipped sandwiches or pink's). so something along those lines. thanks everyone!
