Where to get gift certificate?
Need to buy gift cert. for dinner or wine for my brother and sister-in-law (as a thanks for throwing me a party). They are in Santa Monica. They've been to all big names, fancy places. Looking for upscale but interesting place they might have heard of but not been to, etc. Thanks!
6 Meals in Seattle for 1st-Timer
Have business in SEA. Arrive on Sunday afternoon and am around until Tues late morning. Staying near Pike Place with no car. Need specifics on where to eat (not fancy), culminating with what to take on the train for lunch on way to PDX. Am by myself, so please tell me if any places are in questionable areas, etc. Would like to have Asian. Where? Maybe carnitas @ El Puerco Lloron? Daily Dozen? Also, any SEA-only food shops? Thanks!
7 Meals for Food Writer & Picky Partner
Hi-
Coming to town for book reading and need advice. Staying in Nob Hill w/o car. Have breakfast, lunch, dinner on Fri, same on sat, and breakfast Sunday. Would like to go to Farmer's Market on Sat (and walk from there to Telegraph Hill? Into Chinatown?). Need help figuring out not just where but where makes sense given that I have to be in Noe Valley by 2pm on Sat. Rest of days are open. Thinking of Mamacita, maybe Spruce, and would like suggestions for snacks (cookies or other treats). Tartine? Husband arrives for lunch on Friday and from there, we'd like to explore. Perhaps people might suggestion eateries in conjunction with wanderings? Taquerias in the Mission? Thanks for any and all help. We're game for maybe one pricier meal but not more than that - more interested in interesting or must-eats or must take-homes. Would also like to try yuba (love tofu, have never eaten that, though). THANKS!
Macaroons - best?
I am in love with the macaroons from Hi-Rise in Cambridge - the coconut ones, not the almond ones. They are crunchy-chewy on the outside and a bit soft inside. Where else has great macaroons around town? I'm a latercomer to liking coconut...And anyone know how to make them turn out crunchy like that?
San Miguel Market Question
Just got back from SMA and loved it. Am desperate to know how to make the GREÑUDAS i ate at the Tuesday market - cripsy, chewy coconut mounds, some with vanilla and honey, some with cajeta. Any help is greatly appreciated...
Also...are these regional? Available in Mexico City? Which are the other best markets to visit next?
Help with recipe!? Please! [Moved from Mexico]
