Salted Caramel Ice Cream Pairings?

I do make my own ice cream. Salted caramel ice cream used to be my favorite, until I became vegan, of course... It is so very easy to make your own ice cream. In fact, salted caramel is probably the most difficult ice cream I have ever made, and the only difficult portion is making the caramel a good level of burnt. You should definitely try the recipe in 'The Perfect Scoop'. Dynamite.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream Pairings?

Hello, everyone! I have been put in charge of making dessert for my family's Easter get-together. Seeing how it is going to be 75 degrees and sunny, I thought some delicous salted caramel ice cream would be the perfect treat. However, I am vegan and so have very little experience with dessert flavor combinations. I am not sure what else to pair with the ice cream. I need your ideas, pronto! I was thinking maybe a chocolate brownie or some sort of cake. I am a bit lost though, any and all suggestions will be helpful. Thanks!

Cherry Dessert!

Father's Day is sneaking on up and I wanted to surprise my dad with a homemade dessert after I take him out to dinner. One of his favorite things is cherries, and I just know he would love some sort of dessert that incorporates cherries. So, I am asking you chowhounds to help me out with some great ideas and recipes. I dont mind if it is a cake, cookie, tart, pie, mousse, or anything else, I just want something that is really delicous. Thanks for your help.

Vegetarian main dishes?

I am veg, and my favorite dish is Chili. Chili can be made in so many different ways that it can be done within the hour time frame (hello food pro). Also, I love adding cashews to veg chili. It gives it a much heartier texture and taste. Good luck.

Why does my caramel burn?

I really do not understand why you would not use a thermometer. This is one of those situations that is eprfect for a thermometer, as it can guarantee accurcay and consistency time and time again. What I would suggest you do, however, is to find the temperature that suits your taste, rather than blindly following a recipe. But, after you know what temp YOU are looking for, then use the thermometer!

So, what are some of your favorite picnic recipes?

Oreo Dessert

Hello Everyone. I have been handed the task of making a birthday dessert (It doesn't have to be a cake but it certainly could be!) for a man who absolutely loves Oreos. I have thought of some sort of cake, pudding, cheesecake, brownie, and ice cream applications, but was wondering if anybody had any concrete ideas for an Oreo dessert? Ideas and recipes are both welcomed. What do ya got?

Crushed Apples?

It is a recipe for apple fritters. I tried it once already with applesauce, but the flavor was highly diluted in the finished product. She says that the syrupy liquid flavored the entire fritter, making the entire good taste like apples, not just a donut with apple chunks in it. That is what I am trying to replicate.

Crushed Apples?

Hello, all. My grandmother has recently given me a recipe from her old restaraunt that calls for both "crushed apples" and "chipped apples". She says that both of these products were canned goods, that were basically apples in some sort of liquid. I cannot seem to find either ingredient anywhere, even through wholesale food suppliers, and so now I am going to try and make my own. I am guessing that the liquid was some sort of simple syrup that was apple flavored. I was just wondering if anyone had any insights on where I could find these ingredients, what the ingredients are, how I could replicate them, or just about anything else on this topic. Thanks for your help!
