Mendocino Grille Report
I'm surprised to see people lavish praise on Mendocino. Maybe I just went on an off-night, but everyone in our party of three found the quality of the food to be just "ok" and very overpriced. The food wasn't bad, it just a very forgettable meal. For this price range, there are many better options, even within Georgetown.
That said, they certainly have a nice wine selection.
Crawfish in Gainesville or JAX?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I lucked out: there was a crawfish festival on and I got my fix there. Good stuff!
Orlando emergency
If you are in the I-Drive area, Hanamizuki is well worth a visit. Top notch Japanese food of all kinds, not just sushi.
Crawfish in Gainesville or JAX?
Can anyone recommend a good place for crawfish in Gainesvile or maybe around Jacksonville (Gainesville is better, but I'm in Jacksonville occasionally).
I've never tried crawfish, so I want to make sure that I have the real deal!

Bagels in Vancouver
Someone was looking for good bagels in Vancouver. Here's my recs:
1) Solly's
This is my favourite bagel shop in Vancouver because not only are their bagels good, but they also make decent sandwiches with them. Their cinnamon rolls and the poppy/salt encrusted "twists" are great too, especially when they're still warm from the oven. Last time I visited the Kits location about a year ago they seemed to be going downhill, so your mileage may vary.
2) Siegel's
I've only been a couple of times, and while I thought they did a good bagel, it never quite grabbed the way Solly's did.

Thanks for the recommendation for Baked and Wired, will totally check that one out.
Five Guys... let's just say I'm not going to start THAT debate :-)
Help me get acquainted with Georgetown/Foggy Bottom
I was in Silver Spring for a little while before, but what I'm really missing is my old neighborhood near downtown Vancouver BC. So much good, cheap good of all kinds, ranging from greek, chinese, indian, sushi, bagels, french and much more. DC beats Vancouver for the higher end type dining, but those smaller places with great, interesting food are proving to be harder to find (that said I did find an awesome Chinese place in Wheaton: Hollywood East, which has Honk Kong style Chinese food, unlike most places in the US).
Help me get acquainted with Georgetown/Foggy Bottom
I recently moved close to 26th and Penn (right on the border of Georgetown and Foggy Bottom) and I'm looking for the go-to comfortable kinds of places that every neighborhood needs. Things like a good coffee shop with great bagels and pastries, good burger places, cheap casual bistros with good food, good cheap sushi, decent by the slice pizza, good chinese... that sort of thing. Don't get me wrong, I like dining out, but sometimes you just want to have a nice casual inexpensive meal that is reasonable quality.
Moby Dick's is a firm favorite of mine in this category. Amma's can be fun, and Bangkok Joe's is definitely a contender.
On the Georgetown side, most of the places are expensive, overrun with tourists, have mediocre food, or all three but I'm certain there's gems I haven't found yet. On the Foggy Bottom side, a lot of places seem only open for lunch and it's surprisingly bereft of life at night. Weird.
1st Trip to DC--Restaurant Suggestions?
Georgetown less busy on weekends? Ha. Not a chance of that. Its a zoo on the weekends.
I would recommend going on a week day. and make sure you soak up some of the ambience by wandering some of the back streets, not just M Street. Food-wise there's a few interesting choices like Leopold's (modern euro/German) and Amma's (vegetarian Indian).
ANNIVERSARY TRIP TO FLORIDA KEYS
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Seven Fish yet. That place is top notch and I felt it has more interesting food than most other places in Key West. It would be my vote for an anniversary dinner, especially as it's away from the hustle and bustle that is Duval St.
I also second the earlier recommendation for Nine One Five on Duval St.
