Where can I get pastured eggs in Orange County? Hi there, Anyone have a lead on where one can get pastured eggs in Orange County? Talking about the eggs whose yolks are super yellow-y and where the chickens are eating all the stuff that chickens should be eating (bugs etc etc). Thanks in advance |

(Money no object) Best Fish/Seafood restaurant in Santa Monica or Malibu Hi Guys, Need a recommendation for a big-spending relative of mine. He is visiting LA from Europe and wants to spend some money in the flashiest seafood place in LA and has asked me to help him out. I am not one who generally enjoys fish in restaurants (and I don't think he knows the difference between good and bad fish) -- I prefer ones that I freshly-caught myself -- but no matter -- your tips are most appreciated in advance. So, ambiance and location and view are most important with the quality of the food being secondary. (Sad, I know). |

Fried Dough quest in Los Angeles Hungarian fried dough is delicious. It is called Langos. Pronounced "Lahn-gosh". What is the name of the place that your friend says has it? |

Where to find Central European-style plum dumplings in OC? Looking for Szilvásgombóc (in Hungarian) or Zwetschkenknödel (German) in Orange County. Traditional recipes call for a potato-based dough. Called Jager Haus in Anaheim, they don't serve them. |

Suggestions for Sunday brunch/breakfast in OC (Laguna/Newport/CM/Irvine)? Looks intriguing. |

Great info. Any other tips? |

Suggestions for Sunday brunch/breakfast in OC (Laguna/Newport/CM/Irvine)? We're taking a friend for a birthday breakfast. Problem is I know all the places in OC and keep hoping that some Chowhound will enlighten me about a hitherto unknown (great) place. Right now, in consideration we have Taco Rosa Champagne Buffet, Beachcomber, Omlette Parlour, 333 --- but I am not excited. Any diamonds in the rough out there? (Yes, Ramos House Cafe is out. A bit too pricey.) Doesn't have to be in a great location ala Beachcomber. But food should be solid and there should be a bit of ambience. ----- Taco Rosa |

Try Old World (German) Market in HB. ----- |

Great feedback. Thanks. I may just indulge in a mini pot pie at Daily Grill's Happy Hour. It doesn't look like La Palma is really any good. |

@smallgirlbigcity I received the following quote from another guide: ---------------- LUJAN DE CUYO REGION 09:00am Pick up at the Hotel Return to Mendoza City at 5:30pm.. ---------------- Do these costs mesh with yours? Thanks. |

Any tips? Have heard mixed reviews of La Palma Chicken Pie Shop in Anaheim. Same for Phillip's Chicken Pies in Seal Beach. Are they worth trying? |

Hi there, Anyone have any informed suggestions of worthwhile wineries to visit in Mendoza, Argentina? We will be there for two day and will be hiring a driver to take us around a few places, and hopefully enjoy an asado at one. Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks. |

Need some OC hidden gem recs tonight We ended up at Crow Bar as my friends hadn't been. I have been before. Still totally overrated/overpriced IMHO. I had their (deconstructed) Irish "Stew" which was sucked. |

Need some OC hidden gem recs tonight Good suggestions all. The yakitori/Japanese recs have me thinking shabu-shabu -- any specifics restaurants that do shabu-shabu well? Thanks again. |

Need some OC hidden gem recs tonight Taking some foodie friends out tonight. The local big name and big price places won't impress them. Modern Marche, Flemings etc etc But good/great food at any price is always appreciated. My go-to for under-appreciated hidden gems is usually Kappo Sui. But I took them there last time. Any recs would be most welcome. TIA! |

Tito's Tacos -- What up with this place? The deal is that Tito's Tacos (like Pink's) is vastly overrated and has built a cult following because...it has a cult following. Akin to Paris Hilton being famous, for being famous. Go once. Say that you have been. And then don't go back. |

Brief Nicaragua update...well, not so brief..... FYI the ubiquitous black beans and rice are called gallo pinto. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallo_pinto Nicas love their gallo pinto. |

I second Pearson's Port. |

Opah, Houstons, Gulfstream, Bandera or other in Irvine/Newport Beach All three are decent. I would do Bandera's because it's location in the heart of CdM is best. Plus you can bring your own wine without corkage fee. The others may also allow this. After dinner, you can walk across the street to the Quiet Woman or down the street to Port. Gulfstream location is okay. Houston's location is not good for post-dinner walking/drinking/socializing. |

L.A's Twenty-Five Most Notable Burgers That is some great food porn. But to not have the Father's Office burger on that list is insane. |

Grass fed/free-range meats in Orange County Questions: a) Where do I get some? b) How much more can I expect to pay? c) Is it worth it? Thanks. |

Apparently, there is a Hungarian BBQ (WTF?) restaurant in Hollywood. http://www.transylvaniabbq.com/ The menu makes no sense to me. |
|
|
@josephnl Apparently, I wasn't clear enough for you. Hungarian restaurants and food: * Otto's Import Store & Delicatessen * Alpine Village |
|

I haven't heard of Carolina's. BTW attached to this comment is a list of Hungarian restaurants -- the last two, Alpine Village and Old World sell Hungarian products. Have I missed any in Southern California? ----- Old World German Restaurant Otto's Import Store & Delicatessen Maximilian's Oxygen Lounge and Restaurant Alpine Village |

Clover machine-made coffee Westside LA or OC? Thanks. |

Clover machine-made coffee Westside LA or OC? I need to try the damn stuff, but I don't have time to drive up to Silver Lake (LA Mill) - any tips? TIA. |

Aside from the places mentioned, you might want to try Oxygen Lounge in Tarzana. It is owned by Hungarians and serve Hungarian food. Although, I don't think you will be blown away. ----- |

Pavich's Brick Oven Pizzeria in San Pedro My wife and I just go back from trying it out. The pizza is fantastic. Without a doubt, one of the best in California. We were torn between what we should order, so Zdenko recommended we try: 1/3 Croatian 1/3 Romana 1/3 Quattro Gusti Absolutely delicious. He might be opening a larger version of his pizzeria in Santa Monica or perhaps even in Orange County. We also took some sauerkraut and cabbage rolls to go. ----- |
