@ c oliver......No, Manhattan is only part of NYC. There are (5) boroughs that comprise NYC and Manhattan is only )1) of them. As I said before "you obviously don't understand this area".

@ C Oliver..........
I didn't recommend Fairfield Cty be added to the Manhattan board.
Try to reread my post.
Also, why are you commenting about this thread when it is only a NYC Metro issue and you obviously don't understand this area?

@squid kun

The 99.7% applies only to the posters who used the Fairfield County, Ct. board when it was listed separately on the NYC board.

Fairfield County, Ct.

Originally the Fairfield County, Ct. board was included and listed separately on the NYC board as was Westchester County.
Fairfield County interests in general are closely related to both NYC and Westchester County.
As it is now, we are lumped in together with the balance of Ct. and Ma. and RI. Since then, most of Ct. posters have left out of frustration.

Just checking back in, after a few years have gone by, to see where F'field County, Ct is listed on your site.
Big surprise, it is still listed under Southern New England.
Your management still insists on disregarding the overwhelming response from your customers, about 99.7%, that want F'field County to be listed with NYC, etc., as it was originally.
This decision to ignore your NYC Metro customers is just incomprehensible.
I'll check back in (5) years hopefully, after your decision makers may have rotated out of the decision making process for the for the NYC Metro area.

Best Cuban Sandwich in NYC -- What makes it authentic?

But, the type of pan cubano must be "pan de agua".

Noise, deafening noise

I agree 100% but, it is a crap shoot to find a restaurant with consistantly reasonable noise levels.
Uva on the UES is a prime example you never know if the sound level is going to be acceptable.

DOLCE CUBANO - STAMFORD

I would expect a restaurant named Dolce Cubano to have mostly a Cuban menu otherwise, why the name.
By my count, I only see (2) of about (20) entrees that would be representative as Cuban food.
Speaking only for myself; if, after I had (3) glasses of wine and found the food to be only fair at best then the food prep must be pretty bad.
Good point about the coats.

Any north Thai restaurant recs for SW Ct?

Could also be a south Thai place that has an alternate north Thai menu.
Also, Westchester area would be fine.

Manhattan Asian Restaurants That Are Open After the Storm

I was out in Chicago last month and went to a storefront Thai restaurant near Lincoln Square on N. Damen Ave. Their regular menu has the usual South Thai entrees but you can also ask for their "other" menu which they mainly have for their north Thai customers.
The food I had was very good & the place is very clean.
Definitely worth a visit.

Best of Stamford

El Charrito Taco Truck is Mexican not Spanish.
But, I agree that their food & value is very good.

Barcelona is a good pick for Spanish and the vibe as well. What a goldmine these owners have.

What is this boards favorite Cuban joint?

Versailles is a good choice & the neighborhood is just fine. It is a "must stop" for most politicians and Cubans that are visiting Miami area. I prefer it over La Carreta that is somewhat across SW8st. They are both owned by the same family.
But, I feel most of SW8st (Calle Ocho) is now populated by Central Americans and doesn't have quite the same feel as it did back in the '60's and '70's.
Another place I especially like for Cuban food is Las Culebrinas, the one on Bird Rd (4708).
Enjoy your trip & the food.

Winery restaurants on the NY. wine trail. (Downstate).

A few years ago we visited wineries along the N.Y. wine trail. I think it was located in Dutchess County or the Hudson Valley.
One of the wineries had a restaurant that provided lunch and or dinner. Does anyone recall such a winery with a restaurant?

Winery restaurants on the Ct. wine trail.

Thanks, but none in western Ct. have restaurants. It is looking more likely that I was in NY around the Dutchess/Hudson Valley area.
I will probably do a similar post on the NY board.

Winery restaurants on the Ct. wine trail.

Thanks for the Sharpe Hill replies but that is not an area we would have gone towards. The winery I'm trying to recall is more western Ct near the NY border between New Milford & Kent. It may have even been across the border & in NY.
Again, thanks for both replies.

FAIRFIELD CTY. #2 IN USA FOR MOST RESTAURANTS PER CAPITA

This article is bogus from the very start. Their premise is "Top Cities for Eating Out" but, they include Fairfield County & Long Island, neither of which are cities. Typical "dumbed down" article.

Cuban Sandwiches - Manhattan Dish of the Month August 2012

I only know about Miami restaurants. I gave up looking for it in Manhattan. Union City is probably the nearest town that has Cuban bakeries for pan de agua & either make the sandwich or could steer you to a restaurant that does. Good luck!

Cuban Sandwiches - Manhattan Dish of the Month August 2012

Listing the sandwich as a "Cuban sandwich" doesn't make it a Cuban sandwich. A prerequisite of a Cuban sandwich is the bread must be Pan de Agua. Use any other bread and it just becomes an undistinguished sandwich. I'm not saying the other sandwiches are unlikeable but, only that they are not as described.
It is like making a paella and using the wrong rice.

Authentic Mexican food and great cocktails

How about El Parador on E34 near the tunnel entrance.
Been around a long time, must be doing something right.
I remember when they were located a few blocks away on 2nd Ave. in the late 60's.

A very good choice before the game if you like Jamaican.

Coppelia and other Cuban

Coppelia is NOT a place I would go for Cuban food after reading the Gael Greene link above. There wasn't one dish that could be considered as traditional Cuban. I'm not suggesting that the food is good or bad just that none are traditional.
