Favorite ways to use up a giant bunch of cilantro? I make "Cilantro Pesto" and use in on salad, pasta, meats. Just follow any pesto recipe. Or go rogue and add ginger / lemon instead. |

Passover Dinner: Not Brisket, so what now? I usually make a brisket for Passover. But this year I have someone coming that does not eat red meat. Chicken is fine, and my go-to dish in these situation is Chicken Marbella. But I'm so tired of that. I'd like something as easy as Marbella (toss a big pan in the oven and don't worry so much about it)... Anyone have any good ideas? |

What dessert to bring to in-laws for X-mas eve? It's time to put an end to this. Next year, if you choose to bring something, you can't be surprised or annoyed if they don't like it. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Next year ask them exactly what you should bring, bring nothing or bring what you like and totally ignore their response. It's all you from here on out. |

What cookies are you baking for Christmas this year? 2011 Edition That looks great! I might sprinkle the top with sanding sugar for some sparkle. It says to freeze for an hour. Do you think you could freeze for a few days? I might add this to my Sunday mix. |

Grocery Stores around the world-quirks? My favorite thing to do when I travel is to go to local grocery and hardware stores. You can learn so much more about a place visiting them. Also, you can find better souvenirs than any snowglobe laden store will have. |

For me the fake allergy thing is bad because you have to remember which allergies you've said you have (these pot lucks are every few weeks) and you'll have to not eat something great from someone you trust because it has the same ingredient you're supposedly allergic to. Are people really watching who eats what? I would think it's people milling about, taking a little of this, a little of that. You don't have to have a reason not to eat something. Just don't take it. And if the person in question pushes it on you, take a bit... and just mush it into something else on your plate and toss it. I'm doubting this is a fear of getting sick, but rather an ick factor on your part... yes? |

When Thanksgiving and its customs are foreign to you Since Thanksgiving is one of the rare holidays that is non-denominational makes it the perfect holiday for anyone, of any nationality, religion or non, background etc. to celebrate. For once we have a holiday that doesn't require the purchase of gifts or candy or flowers. Thanksgiving allows everyone to reflect on "Thanks" in their own way, incorporating their own cultures and customs. The only uniting factor is you get together with those you love, give thanks and eat. And except for the parade, not horribly commercialized. (The parade is personal favorite, but I understand it's not for everyone). I don't find it fraught with madness or something to be dragged to. I find it warm and endearing. And it welcomes all with open arms. So if the OP doesn't want to join a communal celebration, perhaps take the day for quiet reflection on what they have gratitude for. Either that or go to a movie. |

What is Your Thanksgiving First Course? Since 1956 (well before me)... Ours has been an Eastern European Stuffed Cabbage. My Great Aunt Ethel was in charge until she died, then I took over. I think I put the recipe up here a few years back. |

When Thanksgiving and its customs are foreign to you I get what you're saying... But I do enjoy celebrating holidays that are not mine. I didn't grow up with Christmas, but I love joining my friend's celebrations. Thanksgiving in my family isn't madness. Perhaps you can find a friend who has a nice simple "Thankful" Thanksgiving and enjoy that. Or create your own tradition. Maybe its a day you try a new recipe. Or an internet free day. Or a day you watch movies you always meant to see, but never did. Or invite a bunch of other people who don't do Thanksgiving over and have them each bring a dish from their childhood. It's not that hard to figure out how to spend a day. |

ISO Tiny Tiny Disposable Aluminum Pie Tins I've got those tiiiiiny paper muffin cups. They're great. I host an annual Holiday Dessert open house. I've found that if you make everything in a big size, people take one piece of cake and stop. If you make everything miniature, they graze and graze. It's more fun. Dessert Dim Sum. ; ) While the tins on Kitchen Dance are close, they're not exact. The dim sum ones are much shallower. Really like a pie tin, but less than 2" across. I think my only hope is to try and buy some from the dim sum restaurant. |

I just can't find them for sale anywhere on the net. That steamer in the pic is about 5" across. So the tins are no more than 2". |

I can't remember what I was watching... But someone gave peanut butter to kids in a country where peanut butter doesn't exist. The kids, for the most part, HATED it. They ate many things that U.S. kids would declare repulsive. Proving most pickiness is a learned response. Even insect eating. |

Care for baker's half sheet and What does Ina use? Believe me, she gets new pans for every episodes. Go into any professional kitchen and their pans looked well used. Don't worry so much about how they look. |
