Raleigh - best in downtown?

Stanbury is very good about calling you back if they can help you in any way. They have done that for us when we asked them to call us if a new time opened up.

Not a Me First World

OK, here goes...Waiting to snag a bar seat at Mateo...crowded this past Saturday night. If you have been there you know that you kind of have to stand behind people to get a seat. I have done it there before, no problem. Try to watch my distance so as not to intrude upon the couple finishing up. Another woman politely asks if I am waiting for the couple to get up-I say yes, thanks for asking-she says I'll stand and wait down here then. A group of 4 comes in, moves past me, sees me waiting and goes further up the bar. The couple at the bar begin to get up-the guy in the party of 4 moves down and with his back turned slides in to the woman's seat as she is barely out of it. I look at the guy and say, I was waiting for those 2 seats, and you know I was here before you. To which he replied: Too bad! Yikes! I should have at that point jumped into the other seat and said Now what! you want to buy me a drink? I left...frustrated and moved on... and thoroughly enjoyed JuJu. (where you put your name down for a bar seat on a busy night)

So the purpose of my long winded story is to say thanks to all of my fellow diners who look out for each other, show respect, and understand that there are unwritten "rules" of playing fair while waiting. And thanks to Nana's and Stanbury for recognizing that bar seats are valuable and for keeping everyone happy while waiting. Like I tell my kids I teach: It's not a me first world.

Nanataco in Durham open

Ate a variety of tacos the week it first opened--smoke duck taco, pork and chicken. Thought all were good, but didn't like the thickness of the corn tortillas-Atmoshphere fun-margarita okay.

7 Dinners in 7 Nights

We just got back from NOLA, and tried to eat as much as we could and did not get to go everywhere we wanted. these are not in order just places we liked.

August, Cochon, Coquette, Commander's, Luke, Casementos, and would try Stella, Bayona, or Herbsaint.

Help with Upscale Lunch

Try Coquette on Magazine. We had a delicious lunch there and the atmosphere was nice, and would make for a nice upscale lunch. The dinner menu which changes daily looked fabulous!
We also ate at Commander's for lunch(garden room) and it was lovely.

Where should we go for dinner?

Just got back from New Orleans this past Sunday, and I would highly recommend Coquette! what a dining experience--everything we ate was exceptional. We were there for lunch as our last hurrah before heading back home. I did take a peek at the dinner menu and it looked wonderful as well. We also ate at other restaurants that were noteworthy . We went to Cochon, August, Mr. B's(least favorite) Commander's(Garden Room) Casamentos, Joey K's, Acme, Luke. There were others that we wanted to try as well. Heard the food at Coop's is good. Didn't get to Bayona or Stella. Will have to try it out on another visit.
