Food and Drink Specials on a Friday Night?

Is there anywhere with good drink specials and maybe small plates or tapas on a Friday night in the CBD, Warehouse District or FQ?

perfect service..

This list is really pretentious. If you want to be served by a robot, go to an automat.

who loves verti marte?

In my opinion it's just dirtier and one is much more likely to get a stomachache eating their greasy poboys with "special" sauces. I don't know why I feel that Quarter Master is better. Just a better track record with it I guess.

I second the "dirty marte" comment. Too, too, gross. Even when I lived a block away it was a no-go. And, I am a broke college student who will eat anything. I prefer Quarter Master.

Crescent City Farmer's Market?

The Saturday market is nice, but if you are from somewhere with a really well-established market it may leave you underwhelmed. It is small and crowded and in a unappealing location in the Central Business District. I live in the French Quarter and have for eight years, but I still think back to my hometown market in Michigan wistfully each time I venture to the CC farmer's market. But if more people support it, it can only get better, right?

Milan Lounge...opinions, etc. Please!

Hello, I am a young woman about to move into an apartment very, very close to the Milan Lounge. I would like some information about that secretive bar! Who goes there? What is it like? Could I go there alone to have a beer without a problem? Thanks in advance!

Free snacks?

As someone who has worked on Bourbon Street for several years I must comment on the 3 for 1 specials. They are generally a horrible value. You may get three bottles of beer for one price, but the price could easily be 10 or more dollars. And if you get 3 for 1 with mixed drinks it is generally a weak, "triple shot" cocktail for the same upwards of 10 dollar price range.
Try MRB in the Quarter for cheap ($3.00 wells with a heavy handed pour) drinks and a good atmosphere, they have all the sports packages and a reasonably priced kitchen out back. Also Molly's on the Market has $2.00 high lifes on, I believe, thursday. And R Bar has free shrimp boils, oysters and bbq periodically.

Tomato / Seafood Festival

It was certainly too hot and the tomato section was horribly crowded. We were jostled and shoved and waited in long lines in the heat. It was not a pleasant experience. The seafood part in the French Market was better but we hit that second and by that point we just got snowballs and left because it was just too uncomfortable. The basil and tomato crepe from crepes ala cart and the shrimp stuffed roasted tomato over jasmine rice from a vietnamese place were good, but would have been better with space and comfort. Also the chef demonstrations were held on much too small a stage, it was impossible to see or hear, Chef Andrea was sweating into his food!

Inexpensive Sunday Brunch

I'm not really impressed with EAT either. I used to really enjoy breakfast/brunch at the Quarter Scene so maybe I'm being unfair with the comparison but the food and service at EAT has really seemed to have gone down hill. The servers are unkempt and rude and the food is subpar.

The Cost of a Sazerac...

I am a waitress and the restaurant that I work for has just added a "specialty cocktail" menu. One of the cocktails included is a sazerac, the cost that they have decided on for the drink is $17.00!!! This to me is akin to robbery. We do not have the best atmpsphere, the prices are not listed on the menu and though the bartender is competent she is in no way a master mixologist or anything.... What do you all think? I feel bad selling them. Also, a mint julep is $15.... ouch.

I thought Lola's Would be Better...

After living on Esplanade for the last 5 years, my boyfriend and I went to Lola's for dinner tonight. It was okay, at least the antipasto plate, crabmeat tropical and bread with garlic spread were good. The paella, seafood for me, meat for my boyfriend, was so-so, the seafood with an overwhelmingly fishy taste and tough seafood, including dry mussels, small, dry shrimp, etc. Oh well, the atmosphere was good but when we tried to pay for the 70-some dollar check with a hundred dollar bill we were told that it would be a while before we could get change as their bank is small. We payed with a check instead but come on, this place is cash only, they should probably be prepared for people paying with, uh, cash... Also, we had to wait for our sangria while our server ran to the neighboring store to buy pens, weird. By the way I work as a server at two restaurants and my boyfriend is a chef, so I am not too fussy. Just thought it would be more exceptional I gues... thoughts?

Has anyone tried Adolphos?

The service is snotty, food subpar for the price. Menu often lists things that are unavailable or not presented with dishes (side salads, etc). After being treated very poorly there about six months ago I have not been back. The dining room is musty and old fashioned, the kitchen tiny, the cooks unhygenic looking and the servers very very rude, plus service is much too slow.

Inexpensive Restaurant for Dinner in the French Quarter

Fiorella's has been really bad lately since they opened with the new owners. I live less than three blocks from there so we used to go often. The service is also very slow, the prices have been raised and the fried chicken is a shadow of its former goodness. 13 on Frenchmen has good food as does Bennachin on Royal (but really slow service), also Aldolfo's can be expensive, last time we went my companion ordered the lamb special and it ended up being around forty dollars just for his entree. Coop's on Decatur is good if it is not too busy, the food and service suffers greatly on a crowded evening. Yo Mama's on St. Peter St. has really, really, good hamburgers served with baked potatoes or salad.

Looking for farm to table restaurant in Nola!

Well I am born and raised in New Orleans and I would consider much of the local cuisine to be "heavy". Red beans, smothered pork chops, anything served with a mound of white rice, fried shrimp, roast beef poboys with debris, oysters with rich toppings (Rockefeller, etc.), all jambalya, big chunks of white french bread served with everything, stuffed artichokes, meatballs with tomato gravy, and much more. Heavy can be good sometimes, and we also have lighter things.

Restaurant Galvez

This restaurant has opened in what was formerly Bella Luna in the French Market. The cuisine is Spainish and Tapas and it looks like its going to be pretty amazing. Paella in the most beautiful dining room in the Quarter!
