paris restaurant suggestions--need HELP

Hi!

I am going to paris from oct 2-10. Will be staying at the le meridien etoile. I have already made reservations at L'Astrance and Le Cinq for lunch. I am undecided on whether to do the same at Guy Savoy or Taillevent. I'm thinking of changing Le Cinq for Taillevent. Any tips?

Also, I want to eat duck confit near the hotel. are there good restaurants or bistros near it? Lastly, as to chocolates and pastries, if its possible, just give me a run through of the best. I'm definitely going to Laduree. Not sure about Fauchon or Pierre Herme.

I have been planning on where to dine for almost a week. And all I've got is L'Astrance :( . please help! thanks.

even my reply was deleted!

thanks for the advice. i'm staying at the peninsula. i have doubts with michelin being applied to HK/MACAU or for that matter outside of europe. usually when im in new york i use zagat.

i think they have biases in favor of european chefs. but i was a bit surprise that bias didn't work for spoon.

i think homegrown guides are better...

at least you know your food. ;). you transferred? even if you are no longer at l'atelier will you still recommend it? i might just go there for lunch and try the prix fixe.

sadly, i dont know how to speak and write cantonese :(

hey sher. this is to digress a bit. i'm flying to HK this may and i haven't been there for almost a decade. and i read in a previous thread that you work for l'atelier. so i assume you are a certified foodie. anyway, i'm probably trying either caprice, l'atelier and gaddi's but not all of them. my problem is with cantonese food. I'd like to try the authentic ones and not those found in 5 star hotels. care to give some tips?

thanks!
