Zayeqa Farmington Hills MI [Detroit area]
I stopped by there (Kababish) for lunch today. Shared the Paya, Haleem,Chappli Kebab, and Shammi Kebab. Wonderful meal.
Taco King is now open in Tienda La Libertad [Ann Arbor, MI]
Outside of Menudo, I can't recall having any tripe (beef or pork) at a Mexican place. I'd actually be pretty interested to try a pork tripe taco.

If that's the one that had the slivers of potatoes in it, then it is actually quite good.

Actually I'm a big fan of pork intestine dishes at most Chinese places. They definitely seem to taste "cleaner" than you might expect. I recall having a tripas taco at Taqueria La Fiesta before and wasn't a fan of that prep ( they were fried , as opposed to the steamed ones I sometimes get with carnitas at Dos Hermanos)

Was it tripe or did it say tripas ? Because I thought tripas actually referred to intestines and I see that on many taqueria menus.
Chicago's best Chinese bun?
Almost right across from St. Anna is another bakery(name escapes me) that I think does a really good job with their buns ( and their egg tarts)
Ypbor Yan (Emerald City)
It might be worth your while yo check out some other spots around here that do Sichuan too. I've done my MaPo Tofu( that or water boiled pork/lamb seem to be my default Sichuan dishes) challenge with the various places.

Are they still doing the steam table with the various guisados ?
Ypbor Yan (Emerald City)
For the record, I am taking credit for trying this place first lol, After posting in the other thread, I realized I hadn't been here in a few months so I corrected that last Friday. I am in complete agreement on the Flame Noodles ( I thought it was ground pork). I also enjoyed the Fish fragrant pork, but the Gong Bao Chicken did nothing for me. Just seemed like regular old Chinese American Kung Pao. That's pretty much the only misfire that I've had here though.
Spicy Chinese Food - DTW
Never been to Trizest, so can't compare but I've been to Emerald City a few times( They've owned about a year or so, I remember posting something on here about it a while back) I've enjoyed the spicy dumplings, ma po tofu, tea smoked duck, cumin lamb, and spicy pork intestines here. They also kept some of the chinese/korean dishes, so you can still get ja jang myun here.
Best of Detroit report in Real Detroit Weekly your thoughts? LINK
Have you ever read their restaurant reviews ? All of them sound like they were written by the restaurant's PR firm. Real Detroit is great for entertainment listings, music reports, and interviews with actors/singers. It's abysmal for food , for the most part.
Looking for good Mexican in Novi/Farmington Hills [DTW]
There's a La Casita in Westland ? Or are you thinking of Dos Hermanos ?
Aloha Hawaiian BBQ- Dearborn [DTW]
Demmit, I kinda figured this was a wild goose chase ( I found much the same results through Google.) I would love a Hawaiian plate lunch place since one of my friends spent a week there in July and was raving about some of the plate lunch spots.
Queso fresco - Detroit/Ann Arbor area
Dos Hermanos would have it, so would Tienda de Libertad by LIberty and Stadium.
DTW Lanna Thai Cuisine - Shelby Township - Northern Thai?
This would be nice. Eating Thai in Chicago( the places you mentioned plus TAC and Arroy) has completely ruined eating Thai food in Michigan for me.
Why aren't we talking about Biercamp in A2? [Ann Arbor, MI]
I went today. My wallet hates me , but my stomach loves me. Those two never seem to be in sync.

The heck ??? How did I not know about this place? Must.Visit.Soon.
Pool Tables and Food in Ann Arbor/Ypsi
Last time I walked by the place, the pool side definitely looked closed, but that was during the summer. Also, if you try Aubree's , be aware that they took out a couple of pools tables ( and put in some shuffleboard tables) so if you're going during a high traffic time you're going to have a wait.
Kimchi in Metro Detroit?
Yeah it really is. Got a good fish stew from there the other day too.
Kimchi in Metro Detroit?
I'll also toss Manna onto that list. All three of the A2 places make their own Kimchi , in additon to selling jarred versions.
Dim sum recommendations? [Detroit]
I second Asia City. In addition to standard Dim Sum fare you get stuff like Congee, stewed tripe, soy milk pudding with syrup, roast pork, roast duck, and jellyfish. All served
from carts.
Oden in Metro Detroit?
I don't know of any restaurants that serve it offhand, but I'm almost positive that you can find frozen packets of the ingredients that make it up at Japanese grocery stores. Try One World Market in Novi.
Mani osteria Ann Arbor Brief review
Count me as a fan. I dined here last Thursday and throroughly enjoyed my meal. I tried the pork belly and marinated tomato appetizers and had the farmer's market pizza of the day ( hot copa, fresh peaches, goat cheese, and red onion.) I sat in the back by the oven, so it was pretty cool to see the kitchen at work while I dined.
[Ann Arbor MI] Lucky Kitchen on Plymouth Road
Seoul Street ( the chicken place) isn't in that same courtyard. It's further down Plymouth , in the same strip as Great Plains Burger.

Lol, I can't remember the name of the Syrian place either, but I love their Kafta and Syrian yogurt.
[Ann Arbor MI] Lucky Kitchen on Plymouth Road
They have ( at least last time I was there) about 20 or so items on sheets of paper on their wall. Some of the stuff was good, but nothing I had there was better than the "other menu" stuff I've had at Kai Garden or Great Lake for example. I've never had anything from the Plymouth Rd. location because I'm rarely on that side of town .

Lutong Pinoy Filipino Cuisine in Madison Hts [DTW]
I guess I need to check this place out because , besides a meal I had at the old location, nothing I've tried in the way of Filipino food in this area touches a good Korean JIgae stew or BBQ IMO.
Chinatown Best Hong Kong Style Congee (Jook)
I've tried most of the cafes in Chinatown ( except for Tasty City) and IMO, the best one I had was at Sweet Station. None of em were bad though, but keep in mind I've never been to Toronto so no clue how they measure up.
"Thai Temple" Sunday outdoor foodcourt in Warren? [DTW]
Man, this place sounds great. I hope to get a chance to make it out there, but if not at least I have a Chicago trip next month to satisfy any authentic Thai urges.
