Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

I had the calamari, and they were excellent... the best I've ever had in this area. Calamari is tough to get just right... I'll have to try them again and see if Crush is consistent. Pizza was excellent, too.

Market Basket heebie-jeebies

I live in Nashua and go to the Hudson MB. It is actually more convenient to get to, and you don't have to deal with DW highway or Amherst St. Plus, there is a liquor store next door, and you have Stop and Shop across the street if you feel like wasting money (although they occasionally have some good sale items - visit both in one trip!)

waltham restaurants

Is Mimi's Steak Subs still there? I used to like it (back in the 1980s, however)

Where to eat in/around Lausanne Switzerland?

I lived in Geneva in the early 1990s and my wife and I went to Girardet's once. It was very good, but not worth the price. There were a number of restaurants in Suisse Romande which were just as good for less money. I hope to get back to Switzerland sometime soon; the food is generally excellent wherever you go.

Request for "reviews" of four Nashua NH restaurants

Peddlar's Daughter is a great place to go for a beer and some atmosphere, but avoid the food. I've eaten there several times over a period of several years (last time about 1.5 years ago, so maybe it has improved) but it was always pretty bad. It's a shame, really, because otherwise the place has a lot going for it.

Meena's Kitchen in Nashua

I had the lunch buffet there a couple of months ago and was not impressed. But given the generally positive response of others, I think I may give them another try.

Sausage King in Nashua?

Has anyone tried the Sausage King on Main Street (or at Home Depot)? It always smells good, and I heard they make their own sausage, although I'm not sure if that is true. Any good or bad experiences there?

Mustard Fruit

Thanks; we don't have A&P, but I'll check the fancy cheese section of some of our markets around here. BTW, I'm not too impressed with the selection of cheeses in the stores, we could use a good cheese shop in So. NH.

I've been thinking of trying a recipe, but the mostardo I remember had some more exotic fruits in it, and I don't feel like buying qumquats, etc. for a small batch... maybe I'll just have to make a bigger batch and give some away.

Mustard Fruit

Does anyone know where I can buy mustard fruit in So. NH, or maybe No. Mass.? I used to buy it when I lived in Europe, and it is a personal favorite. I believe it is called "mostarda" in Italian, but it seemed to be popular in other parts of Europe as well, especially Switz. and Germany.
Thanks

Greek Food in Nashua, NH?

Seven Hill (was) Turkish, but is now gone.

Try Cedar's - it is Lebanese (I think) which is similar, and the food is excellent.

Montpelier for brunch

There's a collective food market there (forget the name) which makes excellent sandwiches.

Market Basket - Is it OK?

Best place to buy ground buffalo in Nashua area is Hudson Stop&Shop, 4.29/lb. Shop the specials at S&S, and go across the street to MB for everything else.

Best foodie location in Vermont

How about a trip to Quebec City, if you haven't been there too often? Lotsa good food there...

Eating out in/near Old Orchard Beach, Maine

We go to nearby Ferry Beach every year, and have not had any outstanding food in the area. Hopefully someone out there knows of a hidden gem...

U.S. across Mass.

LOTS of good food in Waltham.

Nashua, NH -- lunch/dinner venues for bachelorette party?

Check the Favorite Casual restaurants in Nashua, NH thread for some suggestions on restaurants.

Margarita's is a great venue, but the food is mediocre at best. Probably a good place for a party, though.

Best NE summer food festivals? Music/other activities also a pro!

I'll second that... the Festival should not be missed. The price is right (free) and the variety of food available is excellent.

Organic produce etc. near Nashua, NH?

You might also check Trader Joe's in Tyngsboro. They have a lot of organics there, as well as many other good things to eat.

Favorite Casual restaurants in Nashua, NH

Haven't been to You Yous for ages... drove by yesterday and it looked like it may be gone... does anybody know? Didn't get a good look, so maybe I'm wrong.

Also, didn't the tall guy that runs the place used to be in charge at the old Ming Garden back in the 80s?

Denver Pizza

Thank all of you for the suggestions... I'll try some of those on my next visit.

RE the post on 4/9, these relatives have similar tastes and are well-travelled people who know food. None of us have ever been the chain restaurant or steakhouse afficionados in particular, but have very broad tastes.

I was fortunate as a child in the 60s that Denver had so many diverse ethnic restaurants (Korean, Thai, Japanese, Mexican, etc.) that didn't appear in many other parts of the country until much later.

Again, thanks for the suggestions.

Denver Pizza

As a native Denverite who has lived in Southern NH for many years, I have to admit that my original hometown could certainly use some better restaurants. Whenever I am visiting relatives in Denver, I am disappointed in the restaurants. The last one I really liked was (if I remember correctly) The French Bistro near Lincoln St. (?) but it has apparently closed. Compared to what I can get in Boston (or even Nashua!) the Denver restaurant scene is very disappointing. And this is going out with people who know good food when they see it.

OK... tell me I'm wrong (please). If somebody can recommend a good quality, reasonable value restaurant in Denver, I'll have something to try on my next visit.

Favorite Casual restaurants in Nashua, NH

Green Tea in Hudson... not as fancy or as good as Lilac Blossom, but decent food at a fair price.
There's a place on Amherst St. called Aspirations, which makes very good sandwiches and other things, although I haven't been there a while. I don't think they are open for dinner.

Organic produce etc. near Nashua, NH?

I think this is the place:
Harvest Market of Hollis
2 Market Place
Hollis, New Hampshire 03049
(603) 465-2968

Thai near Nashua NH

Many years ago there was a Thai place near Merrimack line, Bangkok Oriental Cuisine, which had fantastic food and the woman that ran it, Mowl, was a real character. I heard that she opened a Thai restaurant in Lowell.... would anyone know about that?

Organic produce etc. near Nashua, NH?

There's a market in Hollis NH of all places, can't remember the name, which as I recall has a lot of organic food.

Finding kitchen supply stores?

Was still open last time I looked. It looks like something out of the 1950s, but they have a lot of things of interest.

Lunch options in Nashua, NH?

Cedars Cafe has excellent falafel, hummus, etc. but is on Amherst Street (exit 7 or 8).
There is a new tacqueria downtown near the courthouse, which I have not tried, but it comes very well recommended by friends.

Greek Grocery In NH?

The bigger Market Basket Stores (Nashua Exits 1 and 8) have some Greek items.

Dinner after Incredibrew, Nashua NH

Two Mexican on DW highway. The better one (in my opinion, having grown up in the Western US) is La Carreta, but it is often very crowded. The other is Hacienda del Rio.

Dinner after Incredibrew, Nashua NH

Another place to consider is the Saffron Bistro, on Main St. downtown. Haven't been there for awhile, but it was excellent the last time. A bit expensive, but the food justifies the price. Check out http://www.thesaffronbistro.com/
I also like Fody's, Lilac Blossom, Surf, Michael Timothy's.
