Domenica service

We went tonight for the first and last time. Piss poor service from beginning to end.No greeting, no explanation of the menu or wine list. brought out each of our 4 drinks one at a time. The waiter placed our leftover box of pizza ON THE FLOOR. We were not impressed with anything we ordered.
antipasta platter, chicken liver crostini ( pretty good ) and 3 different pizzas. 2 of 4 desserts were good and we liked our wine . After all the glowing reviews we were sorely disappointed. Horribly loud hotel atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and go to August instead.

Commanders on Monday plus Bday rec

Just wanted to add that Galatoire's is closed on Monday.
Parkway Tavern is very close to City Park.
I don't think Commander's Palace is ever "empty'.
Enjoy your trip !

An IRISH HOUSE visit is worth your while.

Sadly, I must agree. Loved the Irish breakfast on the first visit. The following three visits spiraled downward food wise. On the last visit I was served the most pitiful eggs benedict I have ever come across...two tiny little eggs atop a dried out English muffin and NO hollandaise. REALLY ??? And I sooo much wanted to love this place. Shame on you Chef Murphy !

NOLA Cook's Stores? Vintage/Antique Cookware?

Le Foret

Was there on 6/25. Had a wonderful meal.

Where to go vs. where to repeat?

Galatoire's does a wonderful Chicken Bonne Femme... I'd get it there instead of Tujaque's.

Live Lobster

Thanks CharlieH ! Hong Kong Market had exactly what I wanted. Got a couple of 3+ Lb lobsters whereas Rouses only had the chix. Dorignac's was sold out. HKM will be my go to for lobster from now on. Plus I got to stock up on all my asian ingredients.

Where is the best place in NO for live lobster ( to take home to cook ) ?

Pastis liqueur in BHAM area?

Any good liqour store should have it. Look for the brand name Ricard or Pernod.

Best Caramel Cake in Birmingham

I love Savages' caramel cake. http://www.birminghammenus.com/savages/

Feelings in the Marigny

I never made an argument that they were better than anywhere else. You took care of that yourself. I just thought your comparison to pepper water eas overly harsh. As for Fitzmorris, I could care less... just passing along a recent review. Ego ??? Not me pal !

Feelings in the Marigny

Whatever. I happen to like Feelings and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Feelings in the Marigny

I never said theat the BBQ shrimp were as good as Mr. B's. But pepper water ??? I don't think so.
I think that Feeling's is an above average neighborhood restaurant with decent food , a great staff and incredible atmosphere.
In no way was I comparing it to a Brennan family restaurant, but since they've been in business since 1979 they must be doing something right. Ya think ??

Feelings in the Marigny

That doesn't sound like my experience with their BBQ Shrimp.

Cajun in Gulf Shores

I hate to say it but you need to get back on I-10 and head about 5 hours west.

Eating in Gulf Shores AL

Lulu's for burgers !

Cane Vinegar

Thanks. Found it at Dorignac's. I was looking in the wrong place and looking for that yellow label.

Cane Vinegar

Can anyone tell me where I can buy some Steen's Cane Vinegar in the New Orleans area ?

BerkeleySQ [moved from New Orleans board]

Dear bourbonstjoe, so glad you liked the recipe !

Bozo's Gooood

Then you wouldn't like Middendorf's either. Stick with the farm raised that you're used to at the AYCE buffet.

Looseleaf Tea

Bring plenty of Gelt !!! HaHa
