Where to buy djon djon?

Hello,

I've been looking to buy some djon djon (Haitian black mushrooms) for a while now and have had no luck. Does anyone know where to get these or the bouillon version made by Maggi?

Thanks!

Vancouver Dim Sum Carts near Westin Bayshore?

Hi everyone and thanks for all the recommendations. We ended up going to Kirin and it was awesome. Was moderately confident ordering off the menu. Great food. Thanks again!

Vancouver Dim Sum Carts near Westin Bayshore?

Thanks grayelf and clutterer. I had read that thread and still was undecided, hence the post. What about non-cart restos? Carts are definitely the appeal, however, I can be flexible on the experience as long as the food is good.

Vancouver Dim Sum Carts near Westin Bayshore?

Hello,

My sister and I are from Ottawa, ON and are going to be in Vancouver this weekend, staying at the Westin Bayshore. We don't have a car and would really like to go to a good dim sum place with carts on Sunday. Anyone have recommendations for something close to the Westin Bayshore within not-too-expensive taxi distance? I know that Floata is close however I'm a little reluctant by the reviews on here.

Thanks!

Looking for a family-friendly buffet breakfast and dinner place in Kingston, ON

Hello,

I'm going to Kingston this weekend and am looking for a family-friendly dinner and buffet breakfast/brunch place for me, my sister, 8 yo. nephew and mom. I'm down for super exotic stuff, however, my sister and mom are more chicken and steak types. My nephew? He's all about the fries and the bacon. Any ideas on where we should go that'll please all tastebuds involved?

Thanks!

Going to Algiers, Algeria - what should I try?

Hi there!

I'm a Canadian going to Algiers next week and was wondering if anyone could give some restaurant recommendations or types of food and drink I should try. I hear fresh dates are amazing and don't want to miss any other culinary opportunities. I'll be there for a week. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Ottawa - Looking for pizza oil

Hello,

I'm desperately looking for a store in Ottawa that sells Grand 'Aroma's Pizza&Pizza flavoured oil:

http://www.fineitalianfood.com/produc...

To my dismay, they're out of stock at Nicastro's on Merivale and I need to find something for the mini pizza dinner I'm hosting this weekend. Barring that, can anyone suggest a store where I can find good pizza oil? I've already checked La Bottega in the Market, Nicastro's on Bank and on Merivale. I've put together my own pizza oil at the last minute in case I can't find anything though I'm worried that it won't be as awesome.

Thanks!

I'm Back! My Nova Scotia Recommendations

We went to the Fundy Restaurant for Digby scallops after a recommendation from a couple we met in Lunenburg and was disappointed. Maybe it was an off day but our service was slow and the food over priced (and not that great).

We stayed the night in Digby and went to the Royal Fundy Seafood Market & Eatery at 144 Water Street near the Fishermans Wharf for lunch the next day. What a difference! This is where the locals go and the small eatery beside the market was bustling with local customers. The price was great and the food even better. The food was very basic - grilled or fried scallops or clams, lobster rolls, seafood chowder, steamed mussels, etc. We all said that we should have skipped the over-rated Fundy Restaurant the night before.

I also ate a bacon and scallop sub at Subway and nearly retched. I would have liked to have tried the McLobster, just to say that I did.
