Brooklyn Chef's Profile
Problem night in SF
We will be staying 4 days at the Fairmont Hotel in SF. The first night we will be dining with 10-12 people. The people in the group seem to have a variety of food allegeries and restrictions. We, therefore, are looking for a restaurant that can accommodate 12 people, with good food and an extensive menu, and not too far from the hotel. "American" food would probably be the best choice, but we are open to suggestions. Please HELP!
Savannah & Charleston Restaurant Recommendations
We will be spending a week iin Charleston and Savannah, and we are looking for good or even better great Southern restaurants. Any recommendations?
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 5 BEST DISHES AT BROOKLYN RESTAURANTS?
1. Steak at Peter Lugers - just by the number of times it has been mentioned, it must be the best dish in Brooklyn.
2. Shrimp Francese - The Queen
3. Lasagna (Tuscan style) - Fragoli (Court Street)
4. Harvest Pancakes - Tom's Restaurant (Even without Gus the pancakes are great)
5. Mussels in white wine - Bar Tabac
I only had the pork chop at Vinegar Hill House once and it was delicious, but I'd have to be just as pleased one more time before putting it in my top five.
Steak Restaurant in Brooklyn
Of course, there is no other steakhouse that can compete with Peter Lugers in Brooklyn. Having said that - last night we ate at Prime Meat on Court Street and it was very good. The restaurant was recently opened by the people from "Frankies" down the block. It is very small with an oldtime steakhouse atmosphere. Service was attentive, but the preparation process was slow- our steak did alot of "resting" before it was sliced and served. There were 3 in our party. We shared a boiled white weiner with a Bavarian pretzel and sweet mustard for an appetizer. The 36oz ribeye steak was perfectly cooked (although alittle fatty even for ribeye) and was delicious. As sides we had mushroom spatzel and braised cabbage, both excellent. With a bottle of wine, but no dessert the bill was a reasonable $116+tip.
Anyone recommend any other steakhouses in Brooklyn?

Sushi in Park Slope?
J-PAN SUSHI is on 5th Avenue around 1st or 2nd Street. Sushi is always fresh, generous portions and extremely friendly service. I could be away for a month and they still remember my preferences. Also reasonably priced.
