I'm flying into RDU for a 10am meeting in Winston-Salem the next day. Any recommendations for a quick breakfast? Thanks in advance.

Recommendations For San Fran Restos? - bringing my "foodie" son....

San Francisco is a perfect place for a 13 year old foodie. My suggestions are for the location as well as the food.

Wing Wings or Rosamunde Sausage on Haight (visit Zero Friends and Upper Playground for skate art).

St Francis Fountain, Wise Sons Deli, Linea Caffe and Dandelion Chocolate in the Mission (Clarion Alley is a must see).

Namu Gaji and Tartine Bakery (near Dolores Park, bring a frisbee).

Very specific restaurant criteria

I can't vouch for the old fashioned but Park Tavern might work.

Solo Dining San Francisco

Both Gracias Madre and Nopalito have comfortable counter seating for solo diners.

Favorite grocery stores in SF?

Welcome to SF. Noriega Produce and Other Avenues are both great. Below are my go to for groceries. I also recommend InstaCart or GoodEggs grocery delivery services.

Andronico's on Irving at Funston (Inner Sunset). Parking lot is a huge plus. If you subscribe to their email list, you'll regularly get $5 off $25 purchase coupons. My husband loves the olive bar here. I like the butcher. They have a nice eat-in area.

Mollie Stones on Portola Dr (Twin Peaks). Free parking lot in the back of the store, meters in the front parking lot. High quality meat.

Rainbow Grocery (Mission/SOMA). Free parking. A little out of your way but worth it for the bulk selection. The free cheese samples in the back are fun for a kid.

Alemany Farmers Market. Best prices for seasonal produce. Lots of samples for kids and a great scene.

Your Favorite $5 or under bites in San Francisco

Taco Dorado at La Palma on 24th

What cookbooks have you bought lately or are you lusting after? October 2014 Edition. [old]

I just tried 2 recipes from The Brown Sugar Kitchen Cookbook by Tanya Holland, Creole Shrimp and Spicy Coleslaw. There are 2 bundt cake recipes I want to try next. I like how the book also pays homage to the roots of the neighborhood.

Westside - kid friendly place to watch football game

Looking for a place with dinner and drinks that we can watch the football game at 5pm. We have a restaurant savvy 5 year old with us. Mid-priced great food and/or Happy Hour specials would be great.

I bought a bottle of Lemon Gingerade at Rainbow Grocery in SF. The label says you can refill it but I'm not sure where to get it on tap. Does anyone know?

group of 15 coming in from LA

A search for 6pm reservations for 15 on OpenTable had lots of choices. My first pick would be Original Joes's in North Beach. Availability didn't come up on OpenTable but I would give them a call. Credo in the Financial District is a good choice. Might be fun to take over the front room at Nombe in the Mission. Also try the newly opened Schroeder's on Front St.

Where to take a 16 year old for dinner in the Mission [SF]?

st francis fountain

visiting, sunset area [San Francisco]

Shin Toe Bul Yi for Korean fried chicken - Taraval St.

2nd Nopalito, Park Chow, Devils Teeth and Outerlands.

Great eats (dishes or restaurants) easy walk from caltrain stations (any)

Marlowe at 4th and King, SF - Across the street from the station. I get cravings for the sauteed wild mushrooms.

Cafe Borrone or The Refuge in Menlo Park. Great outdoor seating at Cafe Borrone.

Palo Alto Creamery on Emerson, Palo Alto. Caribbean French Toast or any of the lunch specials.

Dishes you can only get on one day of the week

I tried the Pal's Takeaway burger. Typically only offered on Wednesday's but they had some today. It was really good. I recommend it.

Quest for amazing ingredients in SF

Little Bee Bakery in Bernal Heights: soft opening today [San Francisco]

I was just there and got the first brownie sold! They also have Four Barrel Coffee and Three Twins ice cream. See below for email from Bernalwood newsletter...

According to the sign in the window, the new Little Bee Bakery from Bernal neighbor (and Chez Panisse alum) Stacie Pierce is set to open for a soft-launch starting today in the former Rock Candy Shop space at 521 Cortland.

The interior has received a thorough renovation, and a sign in the window says Little Bee will begin flight testing on October 11-13 from noon to 6 pm.

Dec. 7th 2013 need rehearsal dinner recommendation!! [San Francisco]

A private party at Boulette's Larder at the Ferry Bldg.

chowhound family that likes adventure with great foodie places

Go during the daytime to Joe's Cable Car for great hamburgers and a fun atmosphere. Namu Gaji or grab a picnic from BiRite Grocery to eat in Dolores Park at the end of the block. If you love mexican and want a vegan food adventure, check out Gracias Madre on Mission. The kids might like the candy case at St. Francis Fountain on 24th.

Last minute trip to Bay Area and have no idea where to eat.

How about Fusebox in Oakland? Not sure when you'll be passing through and would check on their hours before you head there.

There's a brewery and gastropub trend in the East Bay lately. I like Drakes in San Leandro. They may have food trucks onsite. Sierra Nevada and Moxy's in Berkeley and a lot of new places in Oakland.

Not too many places on the North Coast but I just got a tip about the food at Garcia River Casino in Point Arena. It is not a 24 hour casino.

Spicy food in San Mateo

killers recs everyone thanks!

Give me your best

Just got an announcement from UrbanDaddy about Big Sur's first new restaurant in 10 years, Big Sur Roadhouse. http://www.glenoaksbigsur.com/roadhou...

Marlowe might work for one of your dinners. Do not fail to order the side of wild mushrooms.

SF Restaurant recs for FOODIES WITH KIDS.

Might be out of your way but there are always kids at Gialina in Glen Park. It's steps away from a BART station.

Weekend escape in August - Need some guidance

Other options in North Beach are Original Joe's, The House or Park Tavern. 51 Romolo, Comstock Saloon or Rickhouse for drinks after.

For farm to table in the Mission on Sunday, other choices would be Local Mission Eatery or Slow Club. It should take you 25 minutes to get to the airport from the Mission. Or how about Plow on Potrero Hill?

Smoke 'n Wings BBQ Smoke House in San Jose

Checked it out on Sunday and the tri-tip was amazing. Also tried the ribs, brisket and two types of chicken wings. Everything was great.

Lunch for 10-15 persons on weekday in NW San Francisco

2nd on Presidio Social Club. Across the way is Dixie, which could easily handle a party of 15.
