Easter Brunch near airport
Super close to SFO is Kincaids Steakhouse. Not exactly foodie fare but its a nice place.
Only foodie destination near Sea Ranch is Twofish bakery or the fine dining restaurant at Sea Ranch. Best food options are further up North in Mendocino. I recommend stopping at Andy's Produce Market or Whole Foods in Sebastopol and stocking up before heading to the coast.
Family dinner in San Francisco
Park Chalet across from Ocean Beach. Good for large parties, low key and good atmosphere for teens. If it's nice out the teens can hang out on the patio.
Chicken noodle soup
I go to the chicken soup at St. Francis fountain when I'm stressed. Max's Diner matzoh ball soup never disappoints.
Food and restaurant recs for mom-son visit in March
a couple ideas that might be fun for a 12 yr old are...
Hop the cable car to the Tonga Room at the Fairmont. I think there's a buffet.
Take him to shop at Upper Playground, then have lunch at Memphis Minnies.
For the special meal, how about Wayfare Tavern?
Whats a good place for lunch? South of Market area?
Custom Burger, Citizens Band, salad bar at Harvest Urban market
Casual, inexpensive resto for large party on a Saturday
This is far away from the Mission but Park Chalet across from Ocean Beach is great for large groups. They have a parking lot and a nice patio.
Pacific Catch or Park Chow in the Sunset are other ideas. Closer to the Mission, Liberty Cafe in Bernal Heights has a patio area that would accomodate 13 people.
Best lunch spots in the mission??

visiting sf
The best clam chowder is down the coast 40 minutes to the Miramar Beach Restaurant in Half Moon Bay. I don't have any recommendations for SF except a vendor at the Inner Sunset Farmers Market on Sunday mornings. They're a caterer from Santa Cruz and have 3 or 4 soups to choose from, all delicious. I've had a clam chowder, white bean lavendar, jambalaya and gazpacho. You'll find them near the end at 8th St.

Top 5 Bay Area Sandwiches?
The mushroom or any other sandwich from the Sentinal on Montgomery.
SF Neighborhoods
Definitely the Mission. Local Mission Eatery and Pals Takeaway are both great.
I love Clement St. Halu on 8th and Schuberts Bakery are my favorites. Shop at Green Apple books and Kamei restaurant supply.
Hayes Valley is really nice. For food alone, Absinthe, Arlequin Cafe, Bar Jules, Suppenkuche, Smitten Ice Cream, Miette, La Boulange. There are great shoe shops here.
Noe Valley is awesome on a Saturday when the farmers market is there. Toast for breakfast or lunch, La Boulange or Noe Valley Bakery for something sweet and gorgeous, Ambiance and Just For Fun for shopping.

Help Us Fill In The Blanks
Number one recommendation for beer and dining is Monks Kettle. More of a restaurant experience than a brewery tasting, beer is the star here. Other places known for cocktails are Bar Agricole, Comstock Saloon and Smugglers Cove. Stop in at House of Shields for a drink and the atmosphere. You might hit Dynamo Donuts early in the day for the best selection of donuts. Maybe grab lunch nearby at St. Francis Fountain, Local Mission Eatery or to go from Pals Takeaway.

Summer 2011 farmers market watch
Inspiring descriptions and didn't know about the Serramonte farmers market, thanks! I still can't get over the incredible red color of the tomatoes on sale for a $1 a lb these days. Just cooked up a batch of yellow, purple and green green beans with some garlic and bacon. Giant eggplants on sale for a $1 each and scored a beautiful bunch of radishes. Any ideas for the radishes? I once read about eating them with butter and salt.
Best Take-out Places for a "Big Salad" (Dinner)?
They close at 9 but the takeout salad bar at Canyon Market in Glen Park is great. Open later is Frtjz. They make a good salad.

Food items that might "Wow" a pre-teen?
What a thoughtful host you are. Might be fun for you to let her pick where she wants to go one night. St Francis Fountain would be cool for lunch. Does she watch food shows? If yes, Wayfare Tavern, Papalote, Dynamo Donut, Juhu Beach Club or Citizen Cake might interest her. Cocktails and great food at Zero Zero.

SF: Ice Cream Tour: one afternoon
I just discovered Xanath on Valencia. The flavors were really unique. I had a goat cheese with a caramel flavor, delicious.
Upscale Kid-Friendly Restaurant in SF?
Chenery Park is a white tablecloth place with Kids Night on Tuesday evenings. The reviews seem good. We had dinner with my 18 month old granddaughter at Social Kitchen and Brewery. It was so loud in there that the baby screamed for fun and no one noticed! Food is definitely brewery fare.

eating w kids in SF
If you plan on visiting Golden Gate Park, it might be fun to go to kids night at Giorgio's Pizza (4-6pm Wednesdays) on Clement St. Kids get to make their own pizza.
Toast in Noe Valley would be good for breakfast or lunch. Phat Philly, Papalote, St. Francis Fountain, all on 24th in the Mission, are good choices for lunch. Frtjz on Valencia or Hayes has a fun selection of dipping sauces to go with their fries. Kids like Mel's Diner. A crazy and cheap place would be Tommy's Joynt. Convenient if your interested in hitting the movie theater across the street.
For the party of 8, a cheaper option might be Park Chalet out by Ocean Beach. There's a patio out back where the kids can hangout when they're not at the table.

1 Day Food Itinerary - key is it is a Sunday - Your help
How about brunch at Lime in the Castro District (always lines waiting to go in but the scene is cool), then head over to 18th St in the Mission neighborhood for lunch at Delfina Pizzeria or Tartine Bakery. Another option is to grab a picnic from BiRite grocery and hang out at Dolores Park if the weather is nice. Make your way to the Ferry Plaza for a walk through and take in the views of the bay. For dinner and something different, checkout Kokkari Estiatorio near the Embarcadero. To end the evening, head to North Beach and grab a pastry at Mara's or a glass of wine at a sidewalk cafe.

Ideas for Most Awesomest Food Day Ever?
SF Weekly just printed their top 92 favorite dishes in yesterdays edition. Might be fun to pick from the list. On my list to try are 10. Oboru tofu at Eiji, 26. Nopa's mussels with harissa, 36. Seven Hills ravioli uovo, 48. Filetti pizza at Una Pizza Napoletana, 60. The Rebel Within from Tell Tale Preserve, 84. Tandoori fish at Lahore Karshi. There's also a cool list called Best Dishes Worth Hunting Down in the SF Weekly Best of the Bay issue that came out last week.
Or how about a bar bites crawl? Comstock, Bar Agricole and Pi Bar are ideas.

Drinks/ Appetizers near UCSF Parnassus?
Not sure if they would be open to only drinks and appetizers but Villa Romana on Irving at 9th Ave has a room in the back you might be able to snag. When we used it there was a minimum charge ($200 or $300) but you may be able to meet it with so many attending.
Pacific Catch around the corner at 9th and Lincoln might be able to help you. Great drinks and apps here.

Weekend trip to SF
Welcome in advance to SF. I appreciate that sometimes you want a quick recommendation without reading 10 blogs. Chowhound can be a foodie encyclopedia but it's also a community. I second the bid for Chez Maman. It's fun to grab a cookie at Baked next door during the day. My favorites and wishlist are always changing but here's where I would go these days...

Coming to the Bay Area and Need some help eating!!!
King of Noodles on Irving in the Sunset district for handmade noodles. This place is a dive with slow service but the food is great. For Mexican like you've never tried, check out the vegan Gracias Madre on Mission. I doubt there's a place like this anywhere else in the states and it's worth the price. Also love Nopalito for upscale Mexican. For cool local flavor, maybe have lunch at Local Mission Eatery, coffee at Philz next door and then walk over to Humphrey Slocombe (a foodie must) for ice cream.

Honeymooners coming to San Fran! Looking for a unique local spot.
I agree with the Kokkari recommendation. Let the couple know to get reservations. There's a table for 2 upstairs overlooking the oven at Zuni Cafe that I thought was really romantic. Chez Spencer is getting rave reviews for its romantic atmosphere.
