Ok I remember one of its incarnations was Resto du Bonheur...

Openings in 2012

Kim Ramen on St. Mathieu below de Maisonneuve, next to Golden Stone, previously another Chinese joint whose name I forget. Promises hand pulled noodles on its sign. Chef-looking dude was outside yacking with someone but the dining room looked empty. Hope it's good!

As long as it's good, bring it on! The lineups at Kazu are getting nuts.

Haha! They were playing 80s when I was there. Luckily I like it.

Glad you tried lunch-it sounds like a better deal than supper.
We had the lamb stew, the chicken soup and the rendang.
I liked the rendang:coconutty, meaty bits falling off the bone.
The lamb stew, not so much: watery, a bit bland, skimpy meat.
The soup was homey and comforting though also a bit bland. Like the shredded chicken, cabbage, egg and vermicelli mix though.
Dessert was either ice cream or cheesecake which we skipped.
I kinda thought the portions, though they came with rice, were a bit on the small side for $13. I think the soup was $4 or $5?
The server-owner was great and accommodating.
I don't know anything about Indonesian food so I'll defer to others who do.
I would like to try the other dishes especially the apps.
Also liked the sambal on the side which perked everything up.
More power to them!

Dropped by for banh mi taco tonight and noticed no lineup at Bangkok compared to long one for Grumman - funny...

Last-Minute Birthday Cake -- Help!

Pekarna for quick fix not fancy cakes; they always have a couple ready to go.

Downtown donuts?

Sometimes the Chinese bakeries make fried bread-donutty confections-so maybe Harmonie at Guy-Concordia metro or Cocobun at Alexis Nihon Plaza.

Korean - 2012 update?

Golf place would be Shabu Shabu- some friends like it. For fancier, Atti on University that another friend likes but it's so so for me. I used to like Manna on Bishop but it's been hit and miss lately. I do like the blood sausage at Kagopa.

ISO Prepared rotisserie/bbq chicken Atwater Mkt area

I've heard good things about Sparta Rotisserie&Grill on Ste Catherine opposite Plaza Alexis Nihon.
I haven't heard a thing about Rosty on St. Jacques near Atwater.
I have heard a lot of things about New System BBQ on Notre Dame and that's a strictly fast food-to-each-their-own place.

Punjab Sweet: So cheap and so good!

Thanks for post! Passed by and noticed these new names;want to go try! How was Chand/ex Curry&Nan?

Best and Worst Grocery Store Finds...

Dutch Gourmet thick cut chips at IGA-yum. Like thicker chips normally and these I find tastier and not as greasy or salty as Ruffles thick cut. Tried sea salt flavour only because the other two or three didn't entice(Szechuan and can't remember the others).

Olivier Potier - New amazing pastry shop and bakery

Croissant ok, heavier and spongier than I'd like.
Apple turnover pastry good, inside like store-bought applesauce. Prefer their pastries so far: eclair was good though could do without the coconut; the lemon tartlet thingy was delish, not too sweet and just enough lemon for me; a chocolate tartlet thingy was the best with a bit of caramel hiding in there-yum.
Very nice folks. Can't say same for a snooty client who appeared to believe service revolved around her and then brushed right in front of me whilst I was in line behind her as if I weren't there just so she could get to the other counter, but I digress.

Montreal baked goods - specific questions

Olivier Potier's croissants not as good as Fous Desserts I find, kinda spongy.
Apple turnover pastry quite nice but the insides like store-bought applesauce.
Maybe Sweet Lee's for homey stuff; tasty little cheesecakes if you like.

24 hour Breakfast in Montreal

Haven't been for awhile but le Club Sandwich in the Gay Village used to have all day breakfasts and from what I've heard, they still do but best to check.

Opinions on best Thai food?

Went a few weeks ago and wasn't impressed. Everything had an underlying sweetness. The beef salad was the best in terms of presentation, taste and fiery kick. Like theproo, we also shared the red curry duck and the eggplant and shrimp. The curry was better only because it was nice ans saucy, but the sweetness killed it and not spicy even though it was requested. Both dishes had measly amounts of protein. We also had the beef curry crispy noodle dish( forget the exact name) which was a bizarre mix of soft lo-mein type noodles in curry sauce with some crispy strands on top. Again sweet. Again four measly pieces of meat. The desserts (Ginger creme caramel & pandan creme brûlée) were okay. For the price, it was disappointing. The service was friendly and efficient. I like the space-modern, airy as opposed to the traditional Thai restos awash in deep, dark colours and knick-knacks. Meh, I say.

Keung Kee

Old Sun Sing Lung BBQ meatery bought by Keung Kee folks for reportedly fast-ish food including BBQ meat.

Kem CoBa – Delectable ice cream in Mile-End

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm not a Facebooker and appreciate the tip!

High Tea

I second Gryphon d'Or in NDG.
I've heard good things about Renoir in the Sofitel Hotel which may be more your cup of tea, pardon the pun...
