Whistler: Nagomi Sushi
We were in Whistler over Christmas. Hit the usual spots. But one new restaurant was absolutely a standout - Nagomi Sushi. Two former sushi chefs from Sachi. Great quality fish. Rice a bit cold on the nigiri, but hey, this is Whistler. We ended up going 2x.

Walla Walla: Wineries with restaurants or picnic areas?
Most of the wineries in WW aren't zoned for restaurants, so no worries there. And I agree fully with above.
one dinner in Seattle
I would highly recommend Lark. Its not specifically seafood focused, but its small plates and I have had seafood plates there. Amazing.
Walla Walla: Wineries with restaurants or picnic areas?
Yes they will allow you to bring food.
For lunch, Salumerie on 2nd is a good place for meat and cheese. They can also do a boxed lunch if you call ahead. Luscious has some prepared salads in their case. And Merchants has a bit of stuff. I also highly recommend the Taco truck La Monarcha on Issacs in the Napa Auto Parts parking lot for take out Mexican. Perfect for winery picnic. I eat there a few times a week during harvest.
Super 1 Foods is a better bet than Safeway.
But its still a challenge. Lots of online ordering for those living in WW.
Walla Walla: Wineries with restaurants or picnic areas?
They opened a Pho Shop and its really good. It opened a few months back.
New Yorker's first time in Seattle
Former UWS, now Seattle resident.
One word: Sushi. You'd have to spend 5x what you get in Seattle. Plenty of info on the board.
Agree with Green Leaf
Walla Walla: Wineries with restaurants or picnic areas?
None of the wineries have restaurants. My winery, Gramercy Cellars, has a picnic area. Other picnic type areas: Va Piano, Pepper Bridge, aMaurice
Don't miss Saffron restaurant.
FYI - Abeja by appointment only or with reservations. Also - July and August can be HOT.
Where can I buy Domaine Rollin Pernand-Vergelesses 2003?
They have a retail store on the UWS. And those wines are consistently good year after year. Not sure if you have red or white, but the white is a steal.
Vancouver help?
Yeah - Sripraphai is totally worth it. Also suggest bringing wine with you.
Vancouver help?
Going to Vancouver this weekend and am planning on this lineup:
Kintaro Ramen
Vijs
GUU For Garlic
Shanghai River Restaurant (Richmond) - specifically for xiaolongbaos
Sun Sui Wah Restaurant (Vancouver)
Ajisai Sushi Bar
I am a total food geek, former restaurant professional, so looking for food quality, don't really care about atmosphere. Used to live in NYC and would get on subway for 45 mins for amazing thai in dive location. So thats kind of places I am looking for.
How does this line up look? Anything I am missing or should change?

Irish Pub/Food
I travel to Boston frequently and am always blown away by how good the traditional Irish food is there, for obvious reasons. Is there any Irish Pub in Seattle or beyond that serves great Irish food (particularly Irish stew), not fried pub food and burgers?
And who pours the best Guinness?
Wine tasting after work - Seattle
Go to Purple. Lots of wine. Or Wild Ginger and sit in the bar.
SEA: Wines from Alsace
I second the vote for McCarthy & Schiering on Queen Anne. Best store in Seattle. They will order for you. I like - Mann, Dirler, Deiss, Weinbach and Bott-Geyl for Alsace.
Also - try Austria for Riesling, whcih I think are a step above the typical Rieslings from Alsace. Look for a wine from the Wachau at the "Smaragd" level.
Foodie/Winegeek in Vegas on a Fixed Budget!!
Also - Noodles at Bellagio and the Friday dim sum lunch at the Mirage Coffee Shop

Wonders wanted in Walla Walla
Its a real small city, so I'm giving you basically most everything.
Dinner:
26 Brix Bistro - Mike Davis is a great chef. If you dont see anything on the menu, ask him if he'll cook for you.
Whitehouse Crawford - Chef Jamie again great. Cool location as well.
Also have a drink at the Marcus Whitman bar/lounge. If you get the late night bar urge - The Green Lantern
Lunch:
Luscious
Salumerie - Amazing meats from Seattle, Norhtern CA and NYC
Taco truck on Stateline Road - awesome
Stop by Va Piano for some wine as well. Great wines.
Polish/Russian Food
Anyone know where I can buy Kielbasa and Kruschiki in the Seattle area? Any help greatly appreciated as my Mom is coming to town.
Beato Food and Wine
This was in the PI, which got me inititally interested -
Beato Food and Wine, "a cozy neighborhood osteria," is the baby of Brandon Gillespie, former general manager of Italian Wine Merchants in Manhattan, the upscale wine shop co-owned by Mario Batali. Other creds include a culinary arts diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City and further study in Italy. The remodeled 50-seat space will feature Italian-inspired food and "worldly wines," including Gillespie's private collection from Italy. The chef is Nick Devine, most recently sous chef at the Sorrento Hotel's tony Hunt Club. A full menu will be served from 5 to 9 p.m., with a small-plates menu until 11 p.m.
One detail we especially appreciated, in these days of wine bars and noises: Beato promises acoustic tiles to help encourage a conversation-friendly atmosphere. Opening is scheduled for mid-December, Web site coming soon at beatoseattle.com.

The friends and family was gratis (except wine) but the prices on the menu were posted. I thought the prices were very fair.
I think avg check will be about $35 per without wine for 3 courses. The cuisine is definitely contemporary Italian. I'm new to SEA so don't know a comparison, but if you know Fiamma or L'Impero in NYC, that would be comparable, but Beato is much lower price point. Wine list prices are VERY reasonable. I drank Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella (which is impossible to find) for about $80......I think it satisfies both restaurant and wine bar. You could easily order a full dinner or wine and a few apps. Don’t know about the Ovio people.
Beato Food and Wine
Went to friends and family at a new contemporary Italian spot on California in West Seattle. Very cool, intimate spot. Great food – not the usual SEA Italian staples. Almost like Lark with Italian spin and larger dishes. Awesome wine list, especially if you are into esoteric Italian wines and some back vintages. Owner used to run Italian Wine Merchants in NYC.

Walla Walla
Defenitely try Luscious for lunch. Very diferent than anything else done in Walla Walla.
Also the Salumerie on 2nd has meats from Salumi in Seattle, Berkley and NYC. They are open from Tues - Sat.
And stop by Va Piano Winery for some Pannis. The owner, Justin Wylie, studied in Florence for a number of years and always makes them for Barrel Tasting weekend.
Walla Walla
And our new place Luscious on Alder....a must try for lunch. Sweet Basil Pizza pretty damn good too.
