Opinions on Traiteur Robert Alexis?
We at work have gotten our lunches catered by them for years and have always been pleased with their services. Of course they are simple lunches but the food is always fresh, the items creative and are always looking for an excuse to order there.
Bitchin' Kitchen - Are they kidding???
I'm not Italian but I grew up in the east-end of Montreal. I know people who speak like her. I suspect that it's a bit tongue in cheek with her and that's fine. It's a persona which I happen to find hilarious.
A little relish
I find it lovely. She's new to the city and wants to show it off. I think it's great and talks about a couple of places that I'd love to try. Good job! It's always nice to find people who move to this city and fall in love with it. Their point of view can be very refreshing.
Galette des rois
I did end up buying the fous desserts galette and it was delicious. The family really enjoyed it and so did I. The pastry was nice and flaky and the filling had a great almond taste.
Galette des rois
Mangoannie, would you say that you liked the one from Lescurier better? I haven't bought mine yet and your comment does not sound like a ringing endorsement for the Mame Clafoutis one.
Galette des rois
This is a pretty expansive list. Thanks! I will checkout Mamie Clafoutie since I love their other pastries. Will report back.
Galette des rois
Am looking for a galette des rois for the upcoming epiphany. Anyone have suggestions on where to get a great one. First time celebrating this with the family.
The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs (Episode 8: "Finale") [Spoilers]
Did anyone else notice that Robert Irvine was missing from the pool of ousted contestants? I guess being a sous- chef is beneath him (pun intended)!
Any good restaurant in the East-side of Montreal?
I've always wanted to try Max Rupp. What type of food do they serve? Also, have you tried their take -out?
The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs (Episode 3: "Lets All Go To The Lobby") [SPOILERS]
Agree he lost fair and square but too bad because I would have liked to see more of him too. Loved that he thought he was lucky for even being there, that he refered to himself as a cook and that parting shot was funny. To Chiarello who said he'd come to eat at his restaurant he said well as long as you can get a reservation I'd love to see you there.
The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs (Episode 3: "Lets All Go To The Lobby") [SPOILERS]
The fact that Chef Hughes has avoided tofu does not invalidate his being a top-flight chef. He doesn't like it and therefore has not cooked it. That's all. I've seen Tom Colicchio admit to not liking okra and I'm sure were it foisted on him he would not have known how to cook it despite his talents as a chef. Never mind that it is widely eaten by several people within the United States.
In any case, the success of his restaurant which he jokingly refered to upon leaving Kitchen Stadium is a testament to his talent. And, yes they don't serve tofu.
The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs (Episode 2: "Take Me Out to the Ballgame") [SPOILERS]
I've been to his restaurant in Old Montreal and we had a fantastic meal there. The atmosphere there was also a lot of fun.
I loved that line where Chef Zacharian was running and he said: " I thought he had someone else to do that stuff for him". I think he comes off as a fun guy with a good personality and sense of humour.
The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs (Episode 1: "Primal: Heat and Meat) [SPOILERS]
I also love Chuck Hughes. His enthusiasm is wonderful to watch. When he said he almost cried watching the guys cook in the elimination the following clip seemed to indicate he actually meant it. He's fun to watch.
M Wells at Grunman
Just wanted to know if anyone had been to the M Wells pop-up at Grunman this weekend. Saw some pictures on the New York grubstreet page. It all looked delicious. Am wondering if they will do it again so that I can check it out next time.
Kem CoBa – Delectable ice cream in Mile-End
Can't wait to come see you guys. Hopefully you'll have something fantastic to offer us for the upcoming colder months.
L'arrivage with toddler and baby
I want to go out for brunch for my husband's b-day with the the kids in Old Montreal and am tring to decide between Holder and L'arrivage. Is the later too chic and uptight for the kids? The toddler is well behaved but I don't want to have to worry that we are bugging people since he for some reason is unable to speak softly. Can anyone help with this?
Ville St-Laurent
You can try Andalos which is a great bakery that also serves hot meals for takeout. Else, my co-workers and I like Ottavio's pizza or Japon for sushi.

Madre is now a BYOB
How is the food there? Having some older family members coming into town this weekend and they would like some more upscale latin food. Any other suggestions?
Looking for a restaurant & bar/lounge near the W Montreal for late night food and drink
I think Garde-Manger in Old Montreal might fit the bill. They have a delicious seadood platter and their bar is a lot of fun. Give it a try.
Jarred pasta sauces?
I tried it over the weekend and it is indeed delicous. Tastes like my friend's nonna's sauce. Great tomato taste and nice dose of olive oil which really makes the sauce truly onctuous.
Jarred pasta sauces?
I just bought myself a jar of "naturale" sauce and I can't wait to try it. It was 10$ for the bottle (as per satana_666 kind pricey) but the owner said that this was the sauce that started his business so I'm going to give it a try and report back. I was on such a high from my blueberry sorbet at KemCoBa that I would have bought anything really!
Kem CoBa – Delectable ice cream in Mile-End
Wow! I had the lime-mint sorbet as well as the mango sorbet and both were delicious. You're right the lime-mint was only missing alcohol. The mango tasted so authentically mango. Really good stuff. It was our first time there and I can't wait to go back and try out the other flavours.
Great Vietnamese in Montreal?
I would add Lyla on Jean-Talon off of Parc avenue to your list.
Best Greasy Spoon in Montreal
Love that place. It used to be the fries were the size of an adult man's fingers. A nice helping for just a dollar.
Great granola?
Looking to purchase some awesomely nutty, fruity and all around delicious granola. Anyone have brand recommendations to make?
Five Guys Burgers - Coming to Montreal !
Also had limp fries in Vaudreuil and I also ate in. I would say that fries are not their strong suit.
Casual Montreal with toddlers
If it was in old Montreal, it might be Olive et Gourmando.

Haitian Patties
I have a craving for some haitian patties (I'm partial to the cod ones myself). Does anyone know of some good bakeries? I've been to Merson which is great but am wondering if there are even better ones out there. Looking for flaky pastry and tasty filling.
New Mexican restaurants.
Interesting you should mention the quality of the meat sourced at Iguana Ranas. I had ordered a pork burrito and that smell was a total turnoff! The rest of the food was great but that meat smell was deplorable.
Australian Pie/Tourtiere Australienne
Went on Thursday for the first time and I am smitten. I had the small mushroom and beef pie.The pastry was tasty and flaky which I did not really expect. Very light! They supposedly work on it for quite some time and it shows. Brought home a small beef, bacon and cheese one for hubby who is not a believer in pastry meals and he loved it. I also tried their butter chicken one and liked it too. I can't wait to try out their other flavours.
