DB Burger, Dissapointing!

I had read a lot of posts about the DB Burger at DB Bistro. I finally had the burger put in front of me last night, and I must say, it wasn't as I expected. I am a big burger fan, I must say, Its tough to eat, to get all the flavors in the mouth at once, and the meat is good, but the flavor of the truffle stays seperate from the beef.

The restaurant itself was great, the staff very attentive, and they make a great cocktail. I especially like the pretzle bread in the breadbowl. I don't know that I would go back, to many other choices in NYC.

B&B, should have skipped it...

So went to B&B last night before seeing Phantom. I was very excited to be going to a Mario Batali restaruant last night. Got to the restaurant and was told they would prepare a special table for us, and we were taken back. My wife is newly pregnant, so wine is just not an option right now. We asked for the decaf options to drink, and were given quite the look of distain.

They have a Pre Theatre menu, designed for a good quick meal. We ordered our first course, I had the Vegitable Frito Misto, my wife the salad. The Vegatable Frito Misto was the highlight of the meal, the vegatables had exactly the right amount of crunh to them. The flavor was on point. The sauce that came out was amazing.

My wifes mixed green salad, was boring and uninspired. It was no more of a salad then one would get at the Olive Garden.

The meal course consisted of the 'Brasato al Barolo' for me and my wife had Housemade Pappardelle Bolognese. If there was a winner here it was my wife, although neither dish was something I would order again. The pasta was cooked well, but there was very little sauce. As for the short rib, it was like my own potroast. The horseradich was extremely mild.

The service was inattentive as well, the person who was obviously the manager, stood ackwardly watching the floor, but never asked a thing abotu the meal. The servers stood and talked about several topics, in earshot, meanwhile my drink glass was empty, and I eventually had to call across to get attention.

So lets hope tonights dinner is a step above. Picasso is on tap.

Harrisburg? Is it possible to eat there?

Headed to Harrisburg on Friday, and I can't find any information about good local places for dinner. I refuse to eat in a chain, hate eating in hotels. Staying at the Sheraton Harrisburg, would like to eat an early dinner, and don't want to be dissappointed, any suggestions? Prefer no Italian.

Thanks

3 nights in Las Vegas...

I am heading to Bistro Moderne the following week in NYC, our show is at Mirage, so I don't know how that would play in getting through dinner here and then across to Mirage for Love.

3 nights in Las Vegas...

on the 1025 red eye back east after Love at Mirage. Dinner not an option for later, or would have done that, I mean ideally I would have booked the late night show and gone to dinner before. Upthread someone told me to go to Daniel, they don't open till 530, is that enough time to make it through a meal and then across to Mirage?

3 nights in Las Vegas...

Guy Savoy is closed until July 30th, otherwise would be a no brainer. The Wynn doesn't have anything that would have me to our show in time...I agree Mesa would be a better lunch, and had that as my plan, when I thought I would do Alex. But Alex doesn't have anything to get me out in time.

3 nights in Las Vegas...

Coming to Sin City this week to celebrate my wifes 30th Birthday. Plans so far are Tuesday night, B&B at Venetian. Wednesday Picasso and Thursday Mesa Grill. I am not set in stone on Thursday, we do have tickets to a 7pm show that night, so need a realtively quick meal...Thoughts on choices? I can't make time for Alex, but need ideas for breakfast, Pyraid? And lunches...

Thanks

Dinner before the Phillies

Going to Citizens Bank Park for the Phillies game on Monday, a 7:00 start. We want to have a good meal, not Pizza, not ballpark food. What do you recommend? Can we do a center city place and take the broad st line back down?

Piccasso or Le Cirque for memoriable dinner

Taking my wife for her 30th birthday, and want to do a special dinner, for less then $250 total. It looks like both Le Cirque and Piccasso would fit the bill, she is newly pregnant so no wine will be on the bill. What do you think? Is there an alternate idea? I have heard Alex is great, but she has never been to vegas, I thought it would be nice to see the fountain show during dinner.

Moving to NYC - Where to live for a die-hard foodie?

I would say Astoria is the place for you. The N Line to Times Sqaure is less then 15 mins. You have amazing greek, brazilian, italian, indian and grocery options everywhere you look. The area is safe, and the people are great. For $3000 you could have a small town home.

Felidia or Babbo

Have show tickets for Billy Elliot on Friday, 6.19, don't know if I should try and squeeze in dinner at Babbo, don't want to rush an amazing dinner, or if I should take the last lunch at Felidia, and take our time. Thoughts? I have dreamed of Babbo for a long time.

First NO trip

Very Excited to be going to NOLA next month. We will be in town for three dinners and have planned as follows, Emerils, KPauls, Brightsens. Is there any reason to change one of these three? We have planned lunch on Saturday at Commanders ,and would like to pick up Domolisses and New Orleans School of Cooking ot balance out the week. What are your suggestions on entrees? We booked the "Food Bar" at Emerils hear the show is great.
