New farm-to-table in Purdy's to open
Thanks! I will have to check it out when I'm up in that area.
New farm-to-table in Purdy's to open
What's the address of this place? I can't find it in the patch article or on their website.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
When I drove by, the sign said the Grand Opening is March 23rd.
Thornwood - Khan's Indian Kitchen - below disappointing
Thanks to both of you!! Can't wait to check out both places! I will plan to arrive hungry!
Thornwood - Khan's Indian Kitchen - below disappointing
I was underwhelmed also, but was happy they were there. My meal was just ok. But, along with my meal, I ordered paneer kulcha (naan). That was delicious. Freshly made and not gluey at all!
Are there any other good indian grocers in the area? I like to buy paneer and various other Indian ingredients I can't find in the regular markets.
New to Pleasantville / Thornwood - Recs please!
Thanks!!! These are now on my list to try soon. This week, I actually passed by Westchester Grocery and went inside to see if they carried paneer. I ended up with paneer and takeout lunch that day. Not at all like the selection at the 2 Indian/Pakistani markets we had in Stamford but a good find!
Also, I went to McArthur's Grill tonight with the girls before a movie at Jacob Burns Center and thought it was very good with a great sounding menu for a bar!
Hopefully that yogurt shop opens in time for the summer!
New to Pleasantville / Thornwood - Recs please!
Hi, I'm new to the Pleasantville/Thornwood area. I'm wondering what restaurants are worth trying with and without the kids? (Also looking for take-out recs which is often easier since we have a baby.)
I've had takeout from Lucky Buddha several times and have been very happy with the food (sushi and soups). Price was a bit high though. I tried takeout from O'Asian a few times and it was terrible so they are off our list.
For Italian, I thought A'Mangiare was very good.
What are your go-to places? We like all types of cuisine.
Thanks!
Stamford Restaurant Week - Feb 27 - March 13
Personally, I'm not impressed with the menu choices or value being offered. I'd rather order off the regular menu at any of these places.
New Indian Market on High Ridge Road in Stamford ?
Has anyone been to the new Indian Market on High Ridge Road in Stamford, CT? I think it is called JaiHo Market. I'm wondering how it compares to the Prospect St market in terms of quality, price and selection.
Is Peniche in White Plains still open?
Thanks for the reply. I've never been there but a friend told me to check it out. I'll inform her it closed.
Is Peniche in White Plains still open?
Anyone know if it is still open? The website is still down and I read on Yelp that it is closed.
Announcement: New Board Breakdown for Chowhound
Adding my vote for the return of the Tri-state board! I agree with Amanda, splitting Fairfield & Westchester Counties is a big bummer!
Saturday Night dinner in Sleepy Hollow or Tarrytown
I'm not a fan of Horsefeather's either. Been there a few times with friends and the food has been nothing more than ordinary. To be fair, I have not had the burgers though. I am not a red meat eater.
Is there any good pizza in Stamford?
I'm adding my vote for Remo's since I don't agree with the negative reviews above. We think it's the best in the area. We usually order the Spinach pizza but also liked the White Clam pizza. (We always eat-in instead of take-out, which could make a difference)
Tawa on Summer St.
Thanks. I just checked out the menu and it looks delicious. I'll have to try it.... And did you say Kathi roll? I had one at Aamchi Pao in NYC and it was awesome...I could really go for one of those!
Tawa on Summer St.
The new sign for this plays says Chili Chicken. I thought this was a weird unappealing name. Anyone know what the deal is?
Biddeford ,Maine
Same question-- looking for good places in or around Biddeford. I'm going end of August / beginning of Sept. so I expect the answers may be different due to some seasonal places being open.
I'd also like some suggestions for child friendly places, and maybe some good take out, please! :)
Indian Grocery Store in or around Stamford
Thanks, and I agree those two Shop Rites are not near the same caliber.
Trader Joe's frozen Butter Chicken
I second the Butter Chicken (just had it for lunch) and the Paneer Tikka Masala --it is awesome, just wish it contained more paneer. I also like the frozen garlic naan, but NOT the fresh naan in the bread section. There other indian frozen entrees are very good too. I'm referring to the ones in rectangular boxes, not the round ones.
Indian Grocery Store in or around Stamford
Thanks ChefBoyAreMe and gillyweed. I think I'll try ShopRite first, since it seems to be the safest and cleanest option, and if not I'll look for the place in the Cove area. (If anyone knows what it's called that would help!)
Jon1856, I rarely venture out to Elmsford/White Plains area for groceries, but if I'm ever in the area, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
Salad in Stamford, CT?
Try Sundance Cafe for their 'make your own' salads. You pick the ingredients. But watch out, if you add too many ingredients the price can really add up. They also have soome healthy sandwiches. Either way, it's a cute cafe, and the owners seem nice, so it's worth a lunch. It's at 105 Broad St across from McDonald's.
Indian Grocery Store in or around Stamford
Same question, just a year later. Anyone know? I am looking for a place to buy some paneer.
Mohegan Sun - Which buffet is better?
Thanks chelle, for the lunch recs. I guess we'll just have to do the leg work and check out the buffets. But will they let you inside to see what they have out??? My recollection is tat you can't see that from the line outside.
Mohegan Sun - Which buffet is better?
I'm going to Mohegan Sun Casino this weekend and my small group wants to go to the buffet for dinner. I noticed there are two buffets: Seasons and Sunburst. They are close to the same price ($17 & $20 respectively) so the $3 price difference doesn't make the decision.
Which buffet would you recommend and why? Also, any other recommendations for lunch the next day?
Egane & Clive's on Bedford Street, Stamford
Looks like they took the "Egane & Clive's" sign down a while ago. Does anyone know-- Is Egane & Clive's no more? What kind of food are they serving now?
Where to Buy Fresh Pasta in Westchester?
I second Trotta's in Thornwood. Very good stuff.
Thai Chi in Stamford.
I'm interested in finding out the answer too. Anyone been there since the change?
Muscoot Inn pizza any good?
That's a good idea. That area really needs a Thai place, IMO.
Muscoot Inn pizza any good?
I have passed that place many times on the way upstate to visit family. Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try it one of these days.
Muscoot Inn pizza any good?
Thanks for the replies. Here's the update on my experience:
I left Stamford around 5:15PM on Friday and we were in a time crunch. Since Katonah and the other places were a bit out of the way, I ended up taking my chances on Muscoot pizza to save time. We thought, how bad could it be? My husband ran inside to pick up the pizza and said the place looked like a dump. (We knew that going into this though.) The clientele matched the decor, IYKWIM. Well, we made a Bad, Bad decision. Bad with a capital B. The pizza was HORRIBLE. It tasted like cardboard. How could they mess up pizza so badly? Only my 19 mo. old son ate his piece without complaints.
Next time, I will definitely go to Katonah Pizza station or Il Forno (I remember Il Forno had good food last time I went there which was several years ago).
The question is, with such a prime location, we wondered why they don't fix up that place? Is there a reason they don't? Zoning perhaps? Or maybe the quality of the food just doesn't warrant it?
