Wild Boar Shanks and Ground Goat in Westchester?

I have not been able to find game in Westchester and usually wind up ordering it online. Must admit that goat is not my thing so...

The best local advice I can offer you is to contact Crisfield's in Rye (967-0152) and ask them if they can get it for you.

Minette's Feast "The Delicious Story of Julia Child and her Cat"

Looks adorable. Cats will be cats!

Older recipes that stand up, and more

That's what I always thought. The ships came in with spices from India, Indonesia, and other exotic places, and along the way someone sampled the food, really liked it, and
made a version at home. I also maintain the jambalaya is nothing more than a Creole version of paella.

Harbor steak and seafood in mamaroneck

Speaking of Mamaroneck, I just heard that Brian MacMenamin opend up a restaurant in the Mamaroneck train station called The Club Car. Has anyone been there yet?

Older recipes that stand up, and more

Those caught my attention too. I think one of them might be Sardi's meat sauce. I've always wanted to try Country Captain. It strikes me as being an southern version of a chicken curry.
The boccone dolce seems to be heavenly looking meringue-whipped cream--strawberry cake. Not sure what the fish is though.

Grace's Table--White Plains

It's located on Central Ave--I think the location was Crave? Has anyone read anything about this place? There's a website, but no menu posted. They say they will open on April 9th and the chef worked for Grace Balducci Doria. Grace's Marketplace on Third Ave was my neighborhood take-out place, back in the day, and the food there was always very good. Perhaps she's expanding her territory?

Cuban appetizer

Three Guys from Miami has quite a few appetizer receipes on line at: http://icuban.com/food/index.html

My Cuban husband uses their cookbook a lot, so they're pretty authentic for old and new
Cuban food.

Outdoor wood pizza oven

I'm starting to look around for a pizza oven. Does anyone have feedback on Chicago Brick ovens and their Mario Batali range? How do they compare to Forno Bravo? Thanks!

looking for great purveyor of french sausages

The only place I have seen it is at markys.com. D'Artagnan doesn't seem to make it. However, I hope you will find it in NY.

Bistro Latino in Tuckahoe

We went on Sunday night two weeks ago. The place was quite empty. The scallops and crab croquettes were delicious. We also ordered razor clams and they were a bit blah. However, the cheeses, chorizo, and jamon were impeccable. The staff is lovely and we will return soon. I don't think that this would really be a kid friendly place, given the focus of the menu and the vibe.

Unusual Starch dish wanted.

If you like making pasta, Lidia has a recipe for fregola, from Sardinia, which is like couscous but it's toasted before cooking. Here's the link: http://lidiasitaly.com/recipes/detail/1029

And here is her recipe for making it into a casserole: http://www.keyingredient.com/recipes/204022/baked-fregola-casserola/

Belle Havana--Yonkers

Thanks for the honest review. Havana Central is opening up in the new Ridge Hill center sometime next month. It's a small chain, and by that I mean 2 other places in NYC. We're hoping that will prove to be more authentic.

That sweet, sweet Southern lady....

Not a fan of hers, but I wouldn't gloat if I were you. This is the kind of thing that could, and does, happen to ordinary people as well in positions of power (such as teachers, supervisors, etc.). And of course, it's even easier to charge a public figure with a law suit since you get so much publicity out of it, which goes a long way in shaping the public's perception of the case and the accused (who has already received a lot of negative publicity due to the diabetes flap). It's entirely possible that she’s simply a disgruntled employee (with a very cynical attorney) who has decided that the time was ripe to file this suit given Paula’s current high negativity rating.

Let's see if this person has any concrete evidence to back this up--like a recorded or video taped incident on her phone, witnesses, etc.

Help--Jury Duty in White Plains

Also, Ambadi on Post Rd. (which is across the street from what was The Bengal Tiger) does
very nice take-out Indian food. It's an easy walk from the Courthouse.

Trattoria Vivolo?

I I work in Harrison and enjoy eating there. The food is very fresh, well cooked, and delicious. The owner and staff are quite friendly and accommodating. Since it's an old diner, the front area has booths, some of which are a bit tight, but the back of the room is open and airy. I think that it would be an excellent choice for lunch.

Help Me find my true love!

Such evenings generally end in tears before bedtime...

Have you tried the following website? http://www.hersheyicecream.com/StoreLocator.php.

Korean fried chicken sounds good too. I think there's Korean fried chicken place
in Rockland County somewhere??

Belle Havana--Yonkers

Yes, it's been reopened with new owners and a slightly different name--La Bella Havana. We haven't tried it, so I can't comment on the food. A Cuban cigar salon would be understandable, but hookas?

In White Plains...

Hear, hear! We want Vietnamese food!

In White Plains...

First of all, the noodle shop across from Barnes and Noble has a sign which says "Noodles" and opening soon.

Secondly, across from Iron Tomato, there is a sign saying that Milonga Arepa and Tapas Bar will be opening. They already have a pretty spiffy looking website up: http://milongarestaurant.com.

Unless I missed something, I didn't see anything about arepas on the menu.

Burrata in Eastchester opening

Thanks. I was trying to get more info on this place--such as the owner--but found only this on Craig's list help wanted: " Burrata, is an exciting new farm to table restaurant focusing on Italian rooted food and beverages. Burrata specializes in artisianal wood fired pizza." Also it seems that Michael Psilakis is opening up a place in Westchester.

Burrata in Eastchester opening

Where is this restaurant located?

sorry state of fried chicken in westchester

Try Rye Roadhouse.

Fabada at Fairway Pelham

Very exciting news about Fairway carrying cocido. FYI--it's "morcilla" and Latienda.com always has it, but it is US made. I agree about allowing the real deal Spanish stuff in.

Looking for "local" raw honey in Westchester County

Greenburgh Nature Center was selling honey from their own bees in the gift shop. It was very good and I kept meaning to go back there to get more, but always forgot. I'd give them a call first if you are interested.

Shoprite in Scarsdale

re Portier Smokehouse: The last time I went to the Portier location in Mamaroneck, which was several months ago, Imperial Seafood had taken over their location and was carrying their products

best bread pudding in Westchester, NY area

Admittedly, I haven't tried it, but I've seen it walking by and it looks pretty good: Brioche bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and bourbon creme anglaise at the Rye Roadhouse

Noodle Shop in White Plains

It's near an optician's store and the parking area for City Hall . A Nestle Toll House cookie store lasted about 3 minutes in the same location.
