Planning a day of eating in NYC

Hi all,
My family is planning a day of eating Diners, Drive-ins and Dives style. I am looking for recommendations on the best bite of food you have had around the city. Not the best restaurants, just the single best items.

We did this last year and went to:

Yona Shimmel : Knish
Katz's: Pastrami
Creperie: chocolate crepe
Shake shack: burger and shake
John's : Pizza
Criff dog: hot dog

Here's some ideas of what we are looking for:

Best hot dog
Best pizza
Best Mac and cheese
Best sandwich
Best Dumpling
Best Pierogie
Best chocolate dessert

Or just seriously your favorite bite in Manhattan.

Thanks for the help!

cake for bachelorette

I know that these posts were several years ago, but did you like the taste of the cookies/cake from This Chick Bakes and Cookie Fetish or was it more for the gag?

Thanks!

Rehearsal dinner for 75 people

If it helps at all, we ended up booking the rehearsal dinner at Sidecar at PJ Clarkes, but it ended up costing way more than we originally thought we wanted to spend. Being that it was planned by my fiance's mother I don't have the specifics on costs, but I know that it was probably closer to $110 per person. That said, we did a full open bar, cocktail hour and sit down dinner, it could certainly be done for less with wine and beer only and a buffet style dinner.

Downtown Bridal Shower (50pp) - Need a restaurant

I am looking to find a place to have my bridal shower this spring. I would like to find a small restaurant (that seats 50) or a large private room. I don't want to open presents or play games, or make ribbon hats, but realize that people need to be occupied during these parties, so I thought a wine tasting would be fun. Does anyone know of any restaurants or wine bars that would be able to do a wine tasting brunch/lunch? We are looking to spend around $50pp.

Thanks for your help!

Rehearsal dinner for 75 people

Thanks so much! We don't really have a per person budget yet because we're not really sure what this costs but were thinking around $75/pp.

Cuisine wise we were thinking about American, Italian or Mediterranean, mainly because they are cuisines that most people like, but we are open to anything.

Thanks so much for your help!!

Rehearsal dinner for 75 people

Hi! I am looking for a restaurant for a restaurant for my wedding Rehearsal Dinner (Friday in August). We will be having around 75 people. We're looking for a fun place preferably below 23rd street, but we'll consider anything in Manhattan. Nothing too fancy, but good food is a must.

We are either looking for a place where we can rent out the whole restaurant or where they have a large private room or area that can be sectioned off.

I really appreciate your recommendations!

Thanks,
Dana

Brunch West Village/ Chelsea

Thanks for the heads up on Friedmans' even if the food isn;'t amazing it is always nice to go to a place that understand what Gluten Free means. I can't tell you how many times I have gone through the whole schpeel and ended up with a huge piece of toast laying on top of my eggs.

Brunch West Village/ Chelsea

I am feeling very bored with my weekend brunch staples. I love Good and The Empire Diner and go often, but am looking for something new. Nothing incredibly fancy or expensive, just a great brunch. BTW I have Celiac and can't eat Gluten (Wheat, Rye, Oats and Barley) so bakery's can be challenging.

Any good suggestions in the West Village/ Chelsea area?

Thank you!!

west village

I don't know if it will be $15, but probably not much more if you are only going for entrees. Check out Piccolo Angelo http://www.piccoloangolo.com/

Restaurant with Live Music

That is a good suggestion. Thank you. I was hoping for a place with more contemporary music (mainly because I deal with Jazz and classical all day at work) Something like City Winery would be great. Unfortunately though, I have Celiac and have a hard time eating at City Winery.
