Looking for quick, casual lunch near (or south) of PHX airport

Carolina's would be my suggestion, you can't get much more casual the food is great and it's really close to the airport.

Will be in Tucson tomorrow evening and would like a good place fairly close to the Fox theater,Mexican,Thai,Greek,Italian, doesn't really matter too much, just not outrageously expensive and good,Mom and Pops are my favorites, don't care for chains.Any suggestions appreciated.

I have found Yelp to be misleading and unreliable.

ARRACHERA CARNE ASADA... does it exist in PHX?

I have not seen arrachera on a menu anywhere in the Phx area,They sell it in carnicerias, but that's about it.I got hooked on it in Mexico and always have my eyes open for it whenever I stop at a new place.
I have not tried America's Taco Shop but I have tried Roberto's and I'm pretty sure you will not be impressed, nothing exceptional there.
If you do find arrachera be sure and post where you find it.

Chili in Phoenix?

I have not tried it myself but my son told me he had the best chili ever at Wild Horse West which is out by Lake Pleasant, right off the Carefree Hwy and Lake Pleasant Blvd.it used to be right on the road but they have redone the road so you kind of have to look for it,it's on the south east corner back off the road. They also have a good burger.

I just thought there might be some of you out there that this might interest. Whether you are interested in paticipating or just taking in the event,it should be a lot of fun and for a good cause.

Boston foodies looking for recommendations in Phoenix & Gilbert

For Carnitas, any Pro's Ranch Market food court has the real deal, most of the smaller places don't have what I consider carnitas though it will be on the menu. The closest to you would be 16th.St and Roosevelt.
For Enchiladas it's Rosita's Place .2310 E. McDowell, their chips and salsa are great too.Actually both of these places are fairly close to each other.

If I could have just one Mexican place in Phoenix, what should it be?

Rosita's is my go to Mexican place and has been for years,I used to go there when it was on Buckeye around 20th St. before they moved to McDowell. It is always good, their cheese enchiladas with green chile sauce is one of those things I get a craving for and nothing else will satisfy.Well except for a bean and chorizo foot long burro at Carolina's.You just can't go wrong with either of the two.

Hong Kong-style restaurant in new Lee Lee market

Had to go to Lee Lee's today to shop for specialty items and decided to try the attached Hong Kong Restaurant before shopping due to the "hunger factor" What a terrible disappointment,I can sum it up pretty fast, unfriendly waitress, soured ice tea and cold food.I won't be going back to their restaurant.
Love the market though!

Know of good comals and molcajetes?

There is a flea maket week-ends at 35th ave. and Buckeye called El Gran Mercado, that has a couple of booths that have all kinds of Mexican cooking equipment. .I'm sure you can find everything you are looking for there. It is on the northwest corner. It's huge ,you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

PHX Ranch Market essentials

I always pick up fresh masa para tortillas,it's the best I have ever found anywhere, for making your own tortillas maiz.
I can't pass up their horchata.
And I don't know how I got started on their fried chicken when there are so many things to choose from in the food court but it is really good,It's crispy and not all coating like so many places.
The tortas are great and so are the street tacos.Actually I can't remember anything that I didn't like.

Looking for NM ground chile in Phoenix

http://www.santacruzchili.com/ I guess I should have included this link to their website.I haven't been to their store in Santa Cruz for 5 or 6 years but I remember it being a great little place to look around and take in the aromas of fresh chile.

Looking for NM ground chile in Phoenix

Look for Santa Cruz Chile and Spice Company brand at Basha's or Food City,I think they both carry it. It is made in Santa Cruz Az. and is a great product. It comes in powder or paste,I prefer the paste but both are good.

Recommendations for Wickenburg AZ

Catzen, what dept did you work in at Los Cab?Was Teddy the Chef at that time?
The place is pretty much the same as far as the dining room goes, the bar has been remodeled a couple of times since then. It's still a great place.

Recommendations for Wickenburg AZ

WIckenburg doesn't really have any great resaurants, there are quite a few "okay" places and a few good places but no outstanding spots.
For breakfast I would recommend Twin Wheels Cafe,Cowboy Cafe, and Anita's Cocina.
For lunch the one spot that I really like is Nana's sandwich shop.
Dinner is a little harder to advise,Anita's Cocina has decent Tex-Mex style Mexican food, there is also the Rancho Bar Seven which is spotty at best but has a varied American menu.Charley's Steak House is good for steaks and some seafood and is consistent but not outstanding.Ranco de los Caballeros has great food but is pricey and you will need to call for reservations ,it also has a dress code for dinner.
There is a good place in Congress Az. which is 13 mi. north on hwy. 89 called Nichols West,I have never had a bad meal there and they are moderately priced.Good Luck
There is a excellent Museum in Wickenburg, too bad they don't serve food.

Golden Greek PHX.

After a few bad experiences in new restaurants in the last few months,I stopped into one of my old favorites Tuesday for lunch, the Golden Greek on 35th ave. just north of Glendale.I have been eating lunch there for over 20 years and to tell you the truth,I have never been disappointed. It's like walking into the past, nothing has changed in all those years, the decor, paint, music, nothing. You always know who is going to be your waitress and who is going to be cooking.
It's like visiting an old friend. There's a lot to be said for continuity and it's nice to know there is always a place I can depend on for a great lunch at a great price.
Those of you who are customers of theirs know what I'm talking about, those of you who aren't should give them a try,you won't be disappointed, nothing fancy, just very, very good food at reasonable prices.
