My wife and I visit Sedona every year in fact we are going in about two weeks, and our never miss places are Yavapai at Enchantment; L Auberge, (though these are expensive). The other places we enjoy that are local, is the patio lunch spot, with an organic menu in the shopping area; can't remember the name. And, the coyote cafe, on the hillside. We have had some good experiences. Good Luck.
Cafe San Miguel is very authentic, colonial central mexico, ownership and service is great, the food is fantastic, the snapper, chile relleno, and pollo are favorites. Also, Javier's could also be considered ol'mexico, carne asada, grilled chicken, super margaritas. These are my two "go to" spots.

The best restaurants in Dallas are local neighborhood places with excellent food and service; they don't get much publicity, but they are worth the trip. Have lived in Dallas for a long time, and these are the places I frequent; 1. Cafe San Miguel, on Henderson, authentic Mexican food 2. Salum, personal service, chef owned 3. Lola, best deal in town, great food and wine, nice atmosphere 4. Sevy's, local club/restaurant flavor, and creative menu 5. Of course, Abacus, the best restaurant in Dallas. I would avoid Dragon Fly, the bar is ok, but the restaurant is awful, taking advantage of the out of towners, with poor food, and even worse service.
Sevy's is a good choice in North Dallas; has a private room and a menu of variety; chef owned. St. Martin's on Greenville, nice private room, very reasonable menu; excellent private room service for your party; and in the Greenville neighborhood. Nice combination.
