Anyone who has been to Kaji lately...

we were there this past Saturday.

you can see pictures of what we had here:

Interesting hard ciders, at the LCBO or at restaurants?

Summerhill has them, but very limited supply.

Any Good Restaurants in Trenton Ontario

From what I remember.. Picton was still a good 30 minutes away from Trenton. If nighttime driving isn't your forte (like me) makes it difficult when driving at night.

Cajun Corner - Just Like Being in New Orleans!!!

We stopped by Cajun Corner today to see if we could get a Turducken, but were told they were no longer accepting orders for Christmas. Thankfully, Chef Karen agreed to make us a deep fried turkey.

Also tried the frog legs they were serving today. Very very good!

thanks to everyone who suggested this place... Great little spot!

Lai Wah Heen vs. Lai Toh Heen (in terms of atmosphere)

I'd be curious to know what you had with your tasting menu if you can recall.

We had the truffles tasting menu and thought the same as you.

Chicago-Style Italian Beef Sandwiches in Toronto?

I doubt it exists in Toronto either... big part of the sandwich would be the Giardiniera mix

Lai Wah Heen vs. Lai Toh Heen (in terms of atmosphere)

Lai Toh Heen is more modern, stylish... Lai Wah Heen is a little more elegant and has a decent view if you're by the window.

what are you looking for exactly?

big fat burrito vs burrito boyz

looking for thai around 400 and 7

there's a small Thai place by Vaughan Mills called Bangkok Villa.

Go with some coworkers on occasion for lunch... inexpensive, fast and decent food. Not sure if this is what you're looking for.

big fat burrito vs burrito boyz

Just recently had a burrito tasting tour of BB, BFB and NY subs.
Burrito Boyz was easily our favourite.

Lai Toh Heen

We took pictures of the delivery and take out menu from Lai Toh Heen

Lai Toh Heen

Food was good, nothing really exciting though, except butter squash steamed bun (everything smells of truffle oil - not necessarily a bad thing though). Dim Sum seems to be the way to go.

There are some set dinners available, but couldn't tell you what's included or cost.

Greys Papaya Dogs in Toronto?

how about Papaya King..

Greys Papaya Dogs in Toronto?

nothing...

But what makes Gray's so special is price??

Lai Toh Heen

real truffles

Lai Toh Heen

we were there recently for lunch.

They have some set lunches in the 20-40/person range. Includes dim sum, rice dish and some other things IIRC... have to double-check that though

When were there we ordered the truffles tasting menu

Biryani House Wellesley - Nothing great to say about this place

Went last Thursday and had tasting menus. We thought it was a good experience, parts of dishes were great, others are ok. Best dish was an add on.. not part of tasting menu.

"Square" now "Lai Toh Heen"

Can't say for sure, but it looks like they are.. based on the menu card they give you.

Prince Edward County - Top 3

We each ordered the 6 course tasting menu and were quite surprised by the large portions. If we go again, we'll probably order A La Carte instead and skip out on the desserts which weren't very impressive.

My favourite dishes include the:
1. Velvety Hagerman's Farm Cauliflower Soup with Waupoos Apples and Saffron
2. Sea Scallops with County Sweet Corn Pancakes and White Truffle Oil
3. Seared Duck Foie Gras with Baby Beets Glazed in Sherry Vinegar

TASTE - Prince Edward County

We went to Taste! and had an amazing time. We tried almost everything they offered :)

Kultura

Is the tasting menu available for just 2 people?

Habitat - Anyone?!

We went there a few months ago and we were pretty impressed.

I would agree that the kaiseki dishes are rather small. We each ordered the 7 course option and we were still hungry. So we each ordered an additional appetizer and dessert.

We had the most amazing apple cake (unfortunately it's not on the menu anymore). It was so simple but so delicious. It was definitely one of the best desserts we ever had at any restaurant and that includes top restaurants like Susur and Perigee. What really stood out was the deep fried sugar coated sage leaves. Yum!

Overall, we would still pick Susur or Perigee...

"Square" now "Lai Toh Heen"

The truffle tasting menu was $128 for 2. However, I wouldn't recommend it. It was a bit redundant after a few dishes...the items I would order A La Carte include:
1. Butter squash steamed bun with truffle honey at 2pc - $4
2. Pan-seared roulade of truffle & scallop mousse - $28
3. Yang Chun noodles and lobster with truffle - $18

"Square" now "Lai Toh Heen"

We recently visited Lai Toh Heen and tried their truffle 6 course tasting menu. The most memorable dish was definitely the butter squash steamed bun with truffle honey. Delicious!

Burrito Boyz

isn't that Big Fat Burrito?

Best Peking Duck in or around Toronto?

I agree, Chung King Garden has a great peking duck. The skin is crispy and there's barely any fat between the meat and the skin.

DESSERT ONLY at top restaurants

I was craving for Joanne Yolles' famous coconut cream pie...so I dropped into Pangaea on Friday to see if it was still available; they replaced it with the banana coconut cream tart. Since I didn't have time to dine in, they let me get it to go. I ate it at the office and it was heaven! If they let me get takeout, I'm sure they'll be willing to serve only dessert. I highly recommend Pangaea.

before: prix fixe, NOW: BUFFET (in Toronto, for 12-16 guests)

We've been to the Hot House Sunday brunch buffet and it's definitely a great deal! For a full review with pics, kindly visit

I can't think of any hotels downtown with a dinner buffet but there's a Sunday brunch buffet at Epic located at the Royal York hotel. Although we haven't tried it yet, the sample menu looks delicious! I have to warn you that it is a bit pricy ($49)

Maybe your friends will be willing to change it to a brunch instead of a dinner?!?

TASTE - Prince Edward County

Thanks mbe..
I think we'll be in PEC around that time, so we may check it out.
