NH Lakes Region

What? surly you Jest. I always get my lobster from the lake. :)

NH Lakes Region

Any new not to be missed restaurants in the lakes region in the last couple of years? Hopefully we'll be up there again this year and would love to try new places. Where do we go for the best lobster roll now?

Belfast, Me

thanks again for the many recs. They all sounded great. Any suggestions for further north?

Belfast, Me

Thanks for the suggestions. The more the better as we will be in the area for about 2 weeks. We're also willing to travel outside Belfast if there are "do not miss" places 20 to 30 miles away.

Belfast, Me

Can anyone direct me to good restaurants around Belfast, Me. Basic seafood/ steak restaurants preferred. All price ranges. Thanks.

Slow eaters

I agree. I would give anything to have my sister back to have a slow lunch/dinner with. Cherish the time together.

Recommendations for Moultonborough, NH

Highly recommend The Corner House Inn in Center Sandwich. Great food and atmosphere.
For lunch, go to George's Diner in Meredith. It's been there for years. Had the best grilled cheese ever when we were there last fall. Went back a 2nd and 3rd time.
We're not overly enthused with the Common Man restaurants. Most are just okay.
It's been awhile, but we always enjoyed The Woodshed in Moultonboro.
Canoe has good eats, but service really needs attention.
Check some of the threads for the Lakes Region. I'm sure you will find more recs there.

Rude guest?

You are so right!!! Thanks for that post.

restaurants in whitefield,nh and woodstock,vt

Is anything new in Meredith

Let us know where you went, and how you liked it.

Is anything new in Meredith

The Corner House is always my favorite. Always excellent.

An open letter to my house guest....

I just make it clear to everyone who comes to my house that it's MY Kitchen, and that I do not need help in any way, all the way down to clearing the table. I have my way of doing things, and don't want to have to re-do the dishes. Every one kids me about it, but they respect my wishes and stay out. So, in the future, be very firm to your guest about your kitchen wishes. You may have to repeat yourself firmly, but, they will get the picture and leave your kitchen alone. Actually, everyone is okay with this because they don't have to do dishes.

Lakes region Italian

thanks. haven't been to O's yet, so that will be a good acventure for all.

Lakes region Italian

Thanks, I'll check them out.

Anniston, Gadsden Area

I have tried Top O The River, and cannot handle the way they bus the tables. They carry around this smelly, nasty cart, and scrape the plates into the bins right in front of you, making a very sickening sight. It smelled of sour food and milk. If they would clear the tables, and take care of the plates in the back, it would make for a much more pleasant experience. But, must add that the food was good, if I could have eaten it.

Lakes region Italian

What about Italian Farmhouse in Plymouth? Yea or Nay?

Restaurants in Moultonborough?

Go to Sam and Rosies Cafe and Bakery in Center Harbor for a casual lunch. THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL in the area. It was recommended to us last year on CH and we found it to be true. Also highly recommend Corner House Inn in Center Sandwich.

Lakes region Italian

I noticed that Lexpatti recommended Abondantes in Meredith on another thread, but they no longer have a web site. Have they closed?

Lakes region Italian

We'll be staying on the Meredith side.

Anniston, Gadsden Area

Are there any good non chain restaurants in the Anniston, Gadsden area that we might take guests to? I know that they would not go for any ethnic foods. If cocktails are served, all the better.
Thanks

Party Foods: Which ones are you weary of seeing?

On the flip side, what would you LIKE to see? There are other good suggestions on the thread, but thought you might have some good ideas to share.

Can you help me salvage my pot roast?

I agree with adding more tomato paste(but not very much), stock, and add a pinch of sugar. A neighbor suggested the sugar to me several years ago when I had a similar problem with thyme. good luck.

Did you grow up eating homemade Boston Baked Beans? [moved from Boston]

My husband is from New England and had Baked Beans, Hot Dogs and Brown Bread every Sat night. Being from the south, this was new to me. I have the old bean pot, and make this recipe of baked beans for him whenever he wants them.
Soak red kidney beans overnight
Place drained beans in the pot, and add salt, mustard powder, molasses, brown sugar, meat of choice (usually salt pork or ham hock) cloves, ketchup and bacon, with enough water to cover. I add a whole onion with slices made in top and bottom to the pot. Bake in oven at 275 degrees for 6 hours.

Fredericksburg, Va restaurants.

I thought about going to Wegmans. Glad to hear that it is good. We've been to Bonefish and were looking for a different type place. We would even be interested in a good steak if that is possible there. Thanks for your help.
