Most Memorable Cape Cod Meal of 2011 and Your 2012 Dining Plan?

Oran Mor is pretty amazing especially sitting in the two top roof balcony..I am going to the Drag Brunch at Victor's the 10th. Will report back, Dennis

Fin Cape Cod

What an amazing meal. We reserved the top table near the stairs for comfort. Our res was at 7:30. Karen was our amazing waitress. Ciclista had the Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare
Wasabi-Yuzu Emulsion, Avocado, Sesame Seeds, Cilantro,Togarashi, Lotus Root Chips
$14 and the Mixed Petite Heirloom Lettuces Asian Pear, Goat Cheese, Marcona Almonds, Verjus Vinaigrette $9. Michael had Grilled Atlantic Swordfish Red Wheat Berries, Caramelized Brussels Sprout, Walnuts, Root Vegetable-Veal Glace $28 and I had the pistachio encrusted soft shell crabs with fiddleheads and Japanese salad for $26. Karen chose our wine, a 2010 New Harbor Sauvignon Blanc , New Zealand $9. The evening was laid back, the dining room was subdued and comfortable and the evening was really enjoyable. I love Fin.

Sonoma in Princeton, MA

Tonight we celebrate my mom's b day. We have dined at Sonoma several times most recently several years back for Mother's Day. The setting is serene. We had a very nice server, David. The menu is small but has something for everyone. Mom and my daughter had the special crab bisque. I had a taste. It was very thick ( a little too for my daughter) and full of flavour. I had a few tastes. The bread was hot and crusty. The duo of olive tapenades were refreshing changes from butter. My daughter had a beef carpaccio platter with cheese. She loved the Tazmanian Blue. I had the organic chicken. It was mouthwatering. Mom had a massive pork chop that she enjoyed well. The accompaniments were nice. My J Pinot Gris was crisp and light. Mom loved her J.Lohr Riesling. The key lime tarte was sour and light. We shared one dessert. Our bill was 130+ change before tip. The guitar player serenaded mom with a Happy B day rendition. A perfect night. We had made a few requests prior to dining and Chef Bill was most accomodating. This is a rare gem in central MA.

La Barca in Bonaire - Dutch Caribbean

We had a girls night out last week in Bonaire. The organizer chose La Barca, a little al fresco spot on the water in Kralendijk. We arrived early as some of the tourist ladies wanted to capture sunset. We left around 9:30 after a lovely leisurely dinner. Beside our table of 11 there was a 4 top. Services was paced slowly. With a one time serving of bread and flowing water and wine, we were content with the pace. It might be unpopular with those needing an in and out dining experience. I know the server from 3 years ago when I frequented the place. With so many great dining options I just stopped going to La Barca particularly after the young Italian owner left. Well, my mistake, the place is back to fantastic with homemade pasta and fresh fish. The house white wine was crisp and fresh. I cannot recall the name but it was not a Pinot Grigio but some white. I chose the homemade pasta with fresh mahi mahi and imported shrimp. The pasta was slightly overcooked but delicious. The fish was fresh and delectable. My bill with pasta and two white wines was 34 as I recall before tip.

Can't stop thinking about Cape Cod!! Need suggestions for summer seafood near Brewster.

Guapos is slated to open a new spot near Staples in Orleans. Also, Jomama's opens their Brewster shop tomorrow near JT's on 6A. So many great choices near Nickerson....I was at Sesuit Sunday and had a lovely lunch. The clam plate was amazing. My friend ordered the lobster roll no mayo, hot butter on the side. Sadly, I found the lobster meat spongy and soggy, no flavor. The entire dining area is open now with plenty of room.

The Orleans Inn....pleasant surprise!

I also wonder what the entire story is, Jay...I am not suggesting your story is not true but it's here say really and such info really can discredit a business. I personally prefer sharing personal information of this nature....as they say in Antigua "respect" ...I have never been to OI and quite frankly, have no interest. I do love Sir Crickets nearby and JoMamma's (which by the way is opening a new branch in Brewster)...

What's good in Provincetown

masha, my mom loves the sliced Portuguese bread toasted..I buy a few loaves every time I visit..the malasadas are quite famous too...good rec.....

What's good in Provincetown

Ross's Grill is a fav lunch spot of mine..very lively...Aqua Grille is a fun spot for raw bar and waterfront drinks

What's good in Provincetown

To avoid confusion, and to reinforce suggestions I too can recommend Blackfish, Friendly Fisherman and Karoo Kafe. To add to the mix I would say Jimmy's Hideaway is very good and I cannot wait to try Victor's.

Cape Cod Restauant Week MAY 14-20

Have not been to OE. Happy Eating. I am hoping to dine at Old Queen Ann Inn on the 20th if they do not have a private function. Otherwise perhaps L'Alouette. I had been there many times years back but have yet to go under the present ownership.

Sesuit Harbor Cafe- Dennis MA

Ciclista and I met at Sesuit Cafe for lunch today. The marina was mobbed with folks prepping their boats for the sea. The cafe has one area now for dining as the entire back is used for boat storage. I am not sure if this is temporary. We arrived 12 and had our food 10 minutes later. I had the lobster roll platter (15.99) and Ciclista had the fish sandwich (11.99). We also shared a pretty good cupcake with a nice frosting. My lobster roll was full of nice meat, lots of claws, some filler. The fries (small portion) were crispy good. I love their coleslaw. Ciclista's fish sandwich was massive and pronounced to be delicious. Love being back to my favorite seaside spot.

Harry's at the Depot - Hyannis MA

Go to Harry's for a brew, fair priced wine, Keno, sports tv and small setting. It will be worth watching for when their entertainment starts. The former site was fantastic offering amazing Zydeco and Blues..I have been to McGraths and enjoyed my Guinness watching a game with a friend. Did not eat.

Harry's at the Depot - Hyannis MA

Went after work for a late lunch early dinner with the girls from work. It's a small sports bar sort of place with a lot of after work locals drinking and playing Keno. We grabbed a 4 top by the window with views of Willow St. Our waitress was very friendly but we had to wave her down for water and the bill. Not a problem as the vibe is very casual and we went with the flow. The BV Pinot noir was a decent pour at 8.00. My friend liked her Hobo Shiraz at 7.50. My other friend had water. She chose the portobello burger and fries. Two of us had the fish tacos. They were pretty basic with commercial salsa, unripe avocado, standard flour tortilla and a moderate portion of fried white fish. There was shredded un melted mozzarella I scraped off. I skipped the sour cream. The tacos were 12.99, but there were three. I am a fish taco fanatic and would give these a 4 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being outrageous. Guapos tacos rate an easy 8.5. Sort of a bummer as I wanted to love this place. If I ate meat it would be a fun spot for a burger but I don't and there was nothing else on the menu that beckoned me to go back. The music bar is not opened at this time. I had a great time with friends and pretty ok food but nothing to run back for....I miss the old grungy Harry's very much. The total bill for two wines, one sandwich and two entrees was 50 plus tip.

Ceres Bistro Reviews Needed

I am game to try Ceres. My daughter's experience was so bad she is very resistant. We have a few weeks until the 25th to sort it out. I did email the manager about dining on the 25th and have not had a reply as of yet. I am always optimistic and willing to try again. Thanks for remembering our dining history, old school and thanks everyone else...I aim for dining perfection. Myy daughter and I both are in hospitality seasonally so are more aware of subtle nuances to big blunders perhaps..cheers

Mid Cape dining

No question, Ocean House in Dennisport. I have reserved an 8 top round several times (they can accommodate 9 I am sure) . It is located in the upper dining area and is quite comfy. I love the food. There is a 3 course menu for 29.00 that is a killer deal. The menu is creative and the presentation flawless. There is valet service and splendid views. I am at OH at least once a month in fact head there for my girls annual reunion Friday night. You will be very happy with this choice.

Ceres Bistro Reviews Needed

We used to enjoy Ceres but last Mother's Day was a total disaster for my family. Soon, my mom will celebrate her 89th b day and we are celebrating with a dinner and lunch. We are seeking an ultra special dinner spot (in Worcester) and are considering Sonoma (Princeton). Mom mentioned there is a new chef at Ceres and is curious. Has anyone been lately? Thanks! We will have her second party the 26th at the Art Museum Cafe. I have not been there in quite some time.

Stephi's on Tremont

This is our second visit this year. We had a long day moving in Boston and needed some sustenance. I called to see if they were serving food at 4:30 and was told they had the afternoon menu until 5. We got to the restaurant area at 4:45 but could not find a parking space. We finally arrived 4:59 and had to dine off the dinner menu. We sat outside as we were in casual moving clothes, plus, the afternoon was still lovely. Our waitress chose our light bites and wine. Our capable waitress chose the Sauvignon Blanc, Whitehaven (Marlborough) 2010 (WOW)..our tuna tartare and goat cheese app were both heavenly. The bed of warmed goat cheese was surrounded by Kalamata olives and roasted garlic. The crusty herbed baquette was chewy and warm. Our towering tuna tartare was wonderful. It was sashimi grade tuna served with sesame poached tomatoes, whipped avocado, chipotle chili soy sauce, spicy mayonnaise and lime vinaigrette..what a lovely light meal. This is a fun spot for people watching. The area was positively hopping. The bill was 50.00 plus tip.

Restaurants in Isla Verde in Puerto Rico

I forgot to add Metropole's link : http://metropolpr.com/default.html

Also a MUST is Casa Dante in Carolina. Their rice and beans and sangria are memorable. Carolina is the airport area so a minute from Isla Verde. The setting is casual but you find this your favorite dining spot.

I liked Mi Cocina in Isla Verde as well. Very local.

Waterclub is a trendy hip hotel in Isla Verde. I have been many times and love their roof top bar for drinks and snacks. The hotel restaurant has rave reviews but I only spend layovers here for 5 hours or so at the hotel and beach. Down the road 15 minutes is Pamela's located in Ocean Park at Numero Uno Guest House. A MUST for beachside lunch. Not cheap but not bad either.

Sunday Lunch in Watertown

Crazy egg, you get the prize and coffee..when are you coming down Cape Cod to claim it...

MUCH appreciation,,,

Restaurants in Isla Verde in Puerto Rico

Metropole x from The Ritz is very good, very family oriented and fairly priced. I loved their stuffed chicken with black beans and rice.

Sunday Lunch in Watertown

Ok can someone synthesize this for me..it's rather confusing based on recs that are closed, recs for places folks have not been recently, recs that are outside Watertown..LOL..I will buy someone a coffee if they can!!

Has anyone been to the Aegean lately? The Yelp reviews are abysmal. http://www.yelp.com/biz/aegean-restaurant-watertown

Mom is a very hip "young" 89 ...I am finding this to be such a challenge....there does not seem to be a place that is a great fit for us considering time and day and options...awell, we will wing it and see where we end up..thanks all..

Hangar B Eatery on Chatham, MA

Every day, Chef Erskine features specials. I cannot recall the omelette but it may have had Asiago cheese. My soft shell crab entree was a special. There are usually 3-5 items. I do find some small changes such as smaller glasses for the fresh squeezed OJ and smoothie but I don't care, the food quality and the hip vibe is worth every penny. Chef Erskine updates his Twitter with specials @hangarb so take a look.

Hangar B Eatery on Chatham, MA

You have to deviate away from the hash, Ciclista..promise? I love his special menu!!

Sunday Lunch in Watertown

thanks...trying to synthesize all these great recs. The Spot and Victor's intrigue me. I have given up hope for a "nice" sort of Sunday lunch and can go for a great greasy spoon diner sort of place again if the food is great.

Sunday Lunch in Watertown

Thanks all..I am driving up from the Cape to meet family in Watertown to visit my grandmother's friend who is celebrating her 100th b day....really prefer Watertown...could do brunch. How is Victor's?

I was thinking Rino's and by now the Triple D hype is over.
