My husband and I stayed in the Castro in San Francisco for less than three days, and once we discovered a Yucatecan (Southern peninsula in Mexico) restaurant and their cochinita pibil, we went back every day until we left. But I guess it's not fair to say that was our best meal ever. There have been too many great ones to name!
My current drink of choice:
Tequila blanco with St. Germaine and lime, also French 75: Gin, simple syrup or grenadine, lime juice and champagne. Yum!
I really wish I could:
Try the Korean taco truck profiled in the New York Times!
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
I don't have dinner parties to often (shamefaced). Usually I just cook for myself & my husband unless it's Thanksgiving.
My favorite comfort food:
God, I love meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy. I NEVER understood why meatloaf gets such a bad rap.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Not in order: Hakata Tonton, Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches, Macondo, Taco Mix (116th), Kashkaval Cheese and Wine Bar.
My most tattered cookbooks:
Lucinda's Rustic Italian Cookbook: this is really the only cookbook I use, while I get recipes from all over the place, magazines and online. I love it because everything is simple, simple, simple. No tomato sauce, ever! Pretty much every recipe has olive oil, garlic, salt pepper, and some type of protein or veggie, maybe red pepper flakes, not much else. It's great!
