Cyrus or Meadowood

We just celebrated an special occasion at Meadowood and had a beyond fabulous experience. From the food to the wines to the service to the room. Truly fantastic. I would go into detail, but it would be exhaustive as we had seemingly everything. Much more interesting than the French Laundry or Cyrus, in my opinon

Ella's restaurant doing dinner?

Haven't been in this area in a long time. Was in the neighborhood and notice they do dinner now. Has anyone been? I used to love their brunch (a long time ago) and have had business in the neighborhood lately. Is it worth a try?

Best burgers in the Bay Area 2011

i thought marlowes was pretty close to perfect. it would benefit from either not buttering the bun, or putting the aioli on the side or something. it was a bit of a grease bomb, kind of over-gilding the lilly. in my humble opinion

Best burgers in the Bay Area 2011

rouge uses beef chuck that has been cut, salted and ground. they might amass a larger following if they put some of that dry age in there. I would definitely go more often. i think the scraps from the dry age are unusable as there are parts they shave off and throw away. also, if they are using dry age, it would be a result of a very costly mistake

Prather Ranch lard pie crust

waffle shop on telegraph?

noticed a new spot between 41st and 42nd, across from the church's chicken.
overheard someone leaving, locking up and telling someone else they would be open in a couple of months. really small space with 'waffle shop' painted on the outside in small letters. wonder if there is any connection to the pinole location. anyone know anything?

Chez Panisse plus this year's other Michelins

all of this is BS. chez is a four star restaurant. that means that they cannot afford to be inconsistent, no matter how the produce changes daily. the produce changes daily for ALL chefs. being excellent and consistent is their job, as is dealing with ever changing products.
embracing the food media and basking in their adoration when press is good and then having your press director write a statement distancing the restaurant from any critics that do not is LAME.
chez hasnt changed in 30 years. maybe that is what michelin is referring to?

Favorite seafood/shellfish?

I was eating with some other 'hounds and we were discussing the diminishing seafood stocks. then we made our wish list of things we would miss most in the absence of seafood and shellfish. I think, pedestrian or not, tuna, in all of its forms, would be most missed by me. followed by oysters and clams.
what seafood items are board favorites?

URFA BIBER.

Anyone know where i can get this niiice chile powder?

Fish and Farm Review. Hyper local? [moved from San Francisco board]

Is it me, or do these words mean nothing anymore?
Sablefish? Salmon?
Sablefish, according to my fish monger, is from Alaska.
Salmon season has not opened yet locally, and might not this season.
Mostly local and organic? It is harder to eat otherwise in this area, shouldnt we afford these words more weight? Shouldnt the chron. know this also?
Am I being too semantic here?
