Locke-Ober

My wife and I will be visiting Boston in a few weeks for the first time in years. One of the places that I look forward to returning to for dinner is Locke-Ober. I assume the losbter savannah is unchanged!

As I recall, there was a time when it was considered more appropriate to request a table on the second floor when one was dining with a lady. Is this still the case?

Also, is it helpful to be able to request a particular waiter? This is often the case in many old-line establishments. If so, would you have any suggestions?

1. When you mention "Capital" are you referring to Capital on W. Garvey or New Capital on W. Valley upstairs?

2. With our number, do you know if we can call ahead at Capital and reserve a table on a Saturday and avoid a wait?

Another SGV DimSum Query

A group of us (probably between 9 and 11 persons), not all from LA, will be getting together for DimSum on a Saturday in a few weeks. We're a mix of experienced DimSum eaters and 'newbies' with a sense of adventure. We're looking for the best. I've done a bunch of reading on this and other forums and am pretty aware of the "no cart" vs. "cart" debate. Can you please share your collective wisdom on the following choices? Also, with that many (9 to 11 people) would we be able to reserve a table ahead?

Recommendations in Rangoon?

We will be traveling to Burma (Myanmar) in May and look forward to revisiting some of the great places that we ate in Rangoon (Yangon), but are also looking for recommendations. We are up for just about anything and generally avoid places directed exclusively to tourists. On our last trip, we particularly enjoyed Le Planteur and Furusato.
