My lunches near Carnegie Hall

You've gotta order from Tuscany, an Italian catering/pizza joint on 55th between 6th and 5th. It's a little hole in the wall that you can't eat at, but they have really great pastas, sandwiches, salad, and pizza. My favorite is the penne all vodka with prosciutto.

Where to buy mantou?

You can buy fresh ones in sacks of 3 on the street corners underneath the Manhattan Bridge (E. Broadway and Forsyth). Also try the scallion versions!

Flushing's Best

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted, but thanks for the Shanghainese tip. It seems like my beloved Yangtze River and Sun Yang Spring restaurants have since closed.

But in the meantime, I go to King Five Noodle on Prince between Spicy & Tasty and Sentosa. Besides their great noodles (must tries: beef noodles, shredded pork and preserved vegetables, zha jiang mian), the 3-in-1 appetizer (seaweed, marinated boiled egg, and dried tofu), and beef pancake roll are good too.

Milan in late September?

Any suggestions for reasonably priced eats in Milan? Are there any local specialties I need to try?

Although I've been to Florence and Rome several times, this will be my first time in Milan. I'll be in the Duomo area most of the time (and understand it's easy to get sucked into touristy restaurants) so any recommendations would be much appreciated!
