Any experience with these Portsmouth, NH area caterers?
I haven't actually had White Apron cater anything before, but I've had several meals by one of the owners (Jay) and can vouch that he definitely knows what he's doing food-wise.
Best fried clams in New England
Arnold's in Eastham MA (on the Cape). Long lines, super casual atmosphere but delicious and generous portions! been going there since i was a kid.
Chowhounds ~ where is you best apple picking!
I second Apple Crest! mmm, cider donuts, petting zoo, gift shop and apple picking!
other's in NH - Brookdale Farm & Lull Farm in hollis nh. Both have gift shops and are next door to each other.
Best free/cheap cheese tastings in Vermont??!!!
i vote for cabot too. you don't have to go on the tour if it's not your thing. You can just come in and sample cheeses, maplesyrups, mustards etc. There's no pressure to buy. Only issue is that you are mostly sampling different types of cheddar (which I guess is only an issue if you're looking for variety and not just CHEESE LOVE!).
Another good option is the Mountain Cheese and Wine Shop in Stowe, VT (off of rt 108). Tried a delicious welsh cheese called Red Dragon there. It's a mustard & ale flavored cheddar. MMMMM!!!
Farmers Market near Woodstock, VT
Hey everyone - this is a great resource for finding farmers markets near you whether you are in Woodstock VT or somewhere else in the US.: www.localharvest.org go to "Farms".
I check it out every summer to see where/ when the newest farmers markets are.
The Shaker Table, Canterbury NH: Terrible
Food has probably gotten bad because the chef that worked there two years ago is my friend's husband and he has moved on. It's unfortunate!
